Uber crash on WAR - Screenshot

Ok I am going to get flamed for this but I am still curious.  I took this screenshot of WAR and not long after I quit.  I wasn't really enjoying myself but I seemed to get this major spike then the screen would look like this.  Anyone else have this?

What are your rig' specs?  Could just be a technical issue.

*edit*:  Looking at it, it looks like your GPU wants to shoot itself in the face for running the game.  What card do you have, and what bios etc.

    Quad core 9450, DDR3 4 gig, maximus extreme mobo, 8800GT 512mb....

I was pretty much on my last legs with this game and I think the last time I logged in to try it again I hit another screen like this and gave up.  First time in any mmo i have had this..

Looks like a hardware issue to me.  Does it happen right away?  What are you doing when it happens?

Let me guess.. you build your rig.. and now it's failing you..

    Looks like a heating issue..

Or a reason for you to quit.  You don't seem like you are generally excited anyways..

I used to see the same thing with my old Radeon9800 and LOTRO. The video card died like a week after that.  Overheating I believe.

yay for graphical artifacts. Looks like your GPU is overheating to me. Try updating your drivers, buying a new gpx card or removing the virus and spyware on your system. You know, the usual bullcrap that people suggest that doesn't work when you find out in the end your system just plain old sucks because you don't know how to maintain it yourself and end up having over a thousand little icons in your system tray, so many that you have to expand your task bar so that it's 25 times taller. But hey, that's you.

Dogmeats suggestion to a good windows machine:

    Windows + WAR + a browser ( prefer. safari )

    Thats all you need man!

Jokes aside. Definitely a technical issue, mostly having to do with your GPU or gpx cards memory. Restart your system and if it happens again, think about some new drivers for your video card.

Thats definitely a hardware related issue. Alt+tabbing is the only thing that I've seen that I can attribute to textures being thrown off, and they always automatically correct themselves.

Your screen looks like your card is being properly cooled or ventilated; it has proabably suffered some damage as a result. I've had several cards in several games crap out on me. Everytime I thought it was the game, it was my equipment.

My current rig runs absolutely anything I put on it.

Good points actually.  I wasn't so worried since it only happened on WAR and for some reason I could log in and play for a while then a major lag spike would hit and then it would go like this.  I might just take it out and clean it and make sure the GPU is in properly and then run through the drivers again.  I dont OC or anything because my system is pretty decent on its own.   For all the comments about having 25 icons in tray etc.  I am a pretty streamlined guy.  I keep applications to a minimum and have 2 raptor HDD, one for games and the other for booting.  I keep them both very clean.   Card is only....4-6 months old but its not the first time I have had one go on me.

I can be just a video driver crash, but this is a clear GPU overheating sign.

you got a power hungry rig there, whats the power supply you are using?, that will cause alot of problems if you don't have a good one, might have to just get a better cooling fan for your card also, and find the latest drivers for your card.

I had a power supply issue before and I went and bought the corsair 850 watt.  So confident its not that now.  However the issue is only WAR specific.  So it could be the game just sucks up way too much resource.  In order it always goes.

    1. login

    2. gameplay 10-40 minutes

    3. screen lockup (every 20 sec sound breaks in again)

    4. Back to normal after 1 min or so or screen mayhem as you see in the post.

Not playing the game anymore but interested to see if it happened to anyone else.  However I think this is a specific issue with my rig.  The key difference with this crash is that every other application and game runs perfectly and on high spec.  It only happens on WAR.

There could be a simple reason as well...Maybe each time it happened I had just been struck in the head by a black orc wielding a meat cleaver!
