I admit, I LoL'd. But seriously, no. McCain is running one of the worst campaigns in history, and the economy is in crap-shape. AND he is running after Bush, who might be the worst president in history. I don't need polls to tell me which way the wind is blowing.

If it was really the worst campaign in history, don't you think Obama having spent 4 times as much money would be in double digit leads?  He's not. He can't sell his crap to the public.

Obama has spent over $650 MILLION dollars to convince you to vote for him.  If McCain did that you'd say he was trying to buy the election.

Sorry, but the deserting coward has broken the Army with the endless occupation of Iraq.

Can't sustain operations against Gran Fenwick now, let alone Syria.

The numbers don't lie...Obama's lead is substantial and he is absolutely destroying the early vote polls.

The polls had Gore up this much or more 8 years ago.  ditto for Kerry this time 4 years ago.

    the polls don't mean shit.

I believe that there is NO WAY Obama can win, and that McCain win will by a pretty good margin.  Why?  I don't think that ANY of the polls are accurate.  I believe that too many people are hiding the fact that, even if claiming to be Liberal, they are not going to vote for Obama.  Even in a poll, I believe they would lie.  Why?  Well some people are not being truthful about their choice, and that's very probably because of the reason WHY they made their choice.  Lie, even in a poll, because someone might ask them to tell why and then they couldn't do it.

Here's what I see that I don't think others are taking into consideration:

    1.  Palin/Woman Voters - there are plenty of women out there, not just feminists and lesbians, that would love to see a woman in such a prominent position.  They know what I know, that women are still not treated as good as men are.  So I believe that some women, even if they are Liberals, know that having a woman in office would be of better benefit to them.

    2.  Race Voters - Yes, I'll say it.  Racists do exist, even though I am not one.  There are some people that would not like a non-caucasian president, even if they claim to be Liberal.  Plus, we have an entire generation of older, senior adults that grew up during a time where african-americans were not held in such high standards.  My grandmother who's 84 has told me plenty of bad stories about how some were treated when she was a child.  So, the racists and older americans just might not vote for obama simply because of his race, and again, it will not matter if they consider themselves to be Liberals or not.

    3.  Liars/Politically Correct Voters - there are tons of people who only 'go along with the group', who would never want to cause waves and just keep everyone happy.  I believe there are plenty of people 'pretending' to be Liberals because of the stigma associated right now with being anything else.  But when they start pushing buttons on the voting machine, knowing that their votes are anonymous, they will vote for the other side.   (I used to know a person like this, and I KNOW that he wasn't the only one guilty of this..plenty more like him out there.)

    4.  Stupid/Lazy Voters - there are those that will put signs in their yards and bumper stickers on their cars, and then, will not pull their asses up off the sofa and bother to go vote.  So the number of actual voters will be much smaller than those that claim to be Liberals.

GO OUT AND VOTE!  I stood in line for an hour last Tuesday and early voted!  It was one of the best spent hours of my life!

So get out and vote, or keep your damn mouth shut when things don't turn out later like you wanted!

Like I explained earlier: Gore was behind for all of October and the first 2 days of November.

And sorry, up to 30% of the election will be settled by Nov 3rd.  I don't know how anyone can truly thing Obama is going to lose now.  Are you really that naive?

You went from a few days ago:  "Watch out McCain is only 1% behind with 11% undecided!" to making excuses about how "Obama only won because he spent more."

Obama has the confidence and money of the American people.  And no one, not even Ronnie Reagan, won by double digits.  So get off that horse.  A win by 7 points in US Presidential elections is a landslide.  320+ electoral votes is a landslide.

In other words, what are you going to say when Obama wins 320+?  You demanded a landslide if Obama was so popular...it looks like you are going to get it.

I'm not saying it will happen because it might tighten up by then but I'll laugh at all the Obama naysayers if Obama wins 370-170.  Those who insisted McCain was going to win by ignoring 99% of polls and focusing on one or pretending that race is going to swing things for an old guy.

Cause newsflash...people are just as willing to vote against someone because of their age as their race.  And seriously, only a religious nut would want Palin that close to the presidency.

Obama 51-44 350-190 is my call.  You heard it here first!

LOL...  again, Why can't Obama win by double digits if he's spent 4 times as much cash...foreign money i might add.

beacuse his message is socialism.  pure crap.   He can't make the sale.

30 Points?  I wish someone knew something about election history.

Should he be as far ahead of McCain as Reagan was from Carter (widely considered a landslide)?

Something drastic would have to happen for Obama to lose this now.  Barring something drastic Obama has this comfortably (5-7 points).

"Something drastic" already has happened - that's how Obama jumped ahead. It was a tie virtually until Sept.

Obama isn't ahead now because of his merit or worthiness. He's ahead because he's not a Republican like George Bush.

And the sad thing is that Obama will win because people are too lazy to research into WHY the economy crashed and WHY Freddie and Fannie collapsed.  These problems we are having now started in the 90's - like a slow growing cancer. The Bull market in the 90's led us to the Bear market in the 2000's. The inflated housing prices started in the 90's also under Clinton and HE was the friggin genius with the idea that everyone in America should own a home.

I'm voting for McCain but he wasn't my first choice. I could never vote for a Liberal. I think it'll be a lot closer than what the Polls say though. Honestly, I think the Dems could put Bart Simpson on the ballot and he'd narrowly beat McCain in November.  And that makes me sad:(

Fuckin' morons are already printing up "Palin for President 2012" stickers and shit.
So expect the Republican ticket to already be a losing option in 2012.
Hopefully a real showstopper Independent will show up to go against Obama in 2012 or we'll be stuck with his ignorant ass for 8 years.
Here's to hoping the Mayans were right about 2012.....

If McCain loses, and he probably will, it'll have othing to do with Sarah Palin. It'll have to do with republicans screwing up, Bush and all, by spending like Democrats over the past eight years. The Liberal George Bush divided the party and paved the way for a loser like McCain to win the nomination.

McCain then went for the socialist bailout, which further separated him from the base. He then came up with his crazy socialist housing scam, and that hurt him more.

He also screwed up with Palin by handing her to the same idiots who managed George Bush.

He ran a campaign for morons in a year where the democrats fielded the worst candidate in their history. Obama will win, he'll raise taxes, throwing us into the worst economic mess since Carter. he will lose the congress in two years, and the White House to either Palin/Jindal or Patreus, or some combination of them.

There are no showstopper independents. Independents only elect Democrats. It's republicans who don't like government in general, so they are the ones who vote for independents. The democrats always vote for the democrat. Only a strong green helps Republicans, since they are the party of even bigger government than the democrats.

Agree with everything you said Fishermage.

Your right, but the republicans had six years of complete control to see the problems and fix them and they failed. Instead, they choose to go on one of the biggest middle class money grabs in American history.

You talk about merit and worthiness, maybe you should be talking about accountability. It's time to give the Dem's a shot.

Foreign money?  It has come from the average US citizen.  I don't know if you are in denial or something but last time I checked Obama is extremely popular in the US (although admittedly he is even more popular abroad).

And sorry, the US is too polarized for it to ever be a landslide.  8 points is considered a blowout by US standards.  Heck, for a country that leans so far to the right in general for a Democrat to win at all is amazing.  Clinton only won the first time around due to Ross Perot and then because he was the incumbent.  This will be the first Democratic president to win the White House without a major right wing 3rd party candidate in 30+ years.

In case you didn't know...Republicans generally win in the U.S. (post WWII)

In fact, with the baby boomer population hitting its stride I'm shocked Democrats can even stay in the race.  Trust me in 15 years when those boomer get older and start whining about social security the chances of a Republican with these types of values winning is nearly zero.  I'm going to enjoy my 50s.

     News from the election front:

Early voting:  primarily older/non-hispanic white/male.  Via 538.com if you are curious.  46/41 Obama!

Umm...if Obama holds ANY sort of lead with older male white voters this election is done.  Book it.  8 days left.  McCain needs something drastic to happen in the next 3-4 days to turn this around.  Like...an Obama video of him beating a child or something with a stick.  Repeatedly.
