I want a unique character, but I don't want it to be all the game provides such as CoH.

I put down 7 because I dont really care if I find someone that looks a lot like me, or exactly like me for that matter. We could have completely different play styles, so that would differentiate enough.

After playing EQ2, I can definitley say character customization is very important. It adds much more depth to the game, and I really hate when theres 10 clones of me running around.

Who care's you will get helmet's that cover up your face anyways. If you want alot of customization go play sim's.

  • AzzazzimonAzzazzimon Member UncommonPosts: 211

It's not very important for me, if I just get afew option to change the face between then I'm happy, you always have armor with helmet and everything on(no helmet at low lvl in WoW tho) so it's always the armor that make you look diffrent than the rest, not the actual character.

Dying armor/cloths would be alot more useful and fun tho.

Well I put an eight because I like to customize my guy so I know that it is my own creation but it doesn't bother me if a few people and I are looking the same. I will have to agree though I pray that nothing like COH comes out ever again. It raised expectations for character creation and was one crappy game.(sorry thats just how I feel)

I also put 8 down. I like my character to look unique and live up to the badass image that I have in my head. But character customization isn't the most important part of the game, atleast not to me. Gameplay comes first then everything else.

CRIMES! I'm a Elf and need levels because I couldn't Play THURsday. I couldn't play FIRDAY either because Ther servers DOWN and Today's Friday! The WEekend comes AFTER friday! Think now you this??? Blizzard sees but doesn't show that they play with our Seeing for WOW!

I Believe character customisation is essential to any mmorpg, therefore i would not like to see

"X" number of players looking like me, whether or not, armour hides the difference...

    so ill say 9..

  • dougfrippondougfrippon Member Posts: 206

I put a 6, because I belive that if WoW had NO customisation at all, I'd still be playing it, because I like the game so much. So that mean char customisation isn't that important for me.

But y'know, maximum char customisation is still the best, if we'd have ten times more customisation options I would be the first to be pleased about it. It's sad to think there is little to no chance Blizzard enhance the cusomisation options. image

It does not make or break a game for me, but I would like to be able to create a char that does not look like everybody else's char. I do wish they will put more customization in sometime after release. Because what there is right now does not allow for very many combonations.

Simply as long as you look different from other people from a distance or a set range thats what counts.  but yeah i dont like to be in same suite of composite armor as next person as it is in SWG

I put a 9, I think its very important to look unique. I hate running into clones of my self. As long as there is enough amors/weapons and cusimization on appearence I am happy.

I like a very very customizable character generation. However, I do not want it to get in the way of gameplay. If the devs want to put more time into gameplay than char gen that is fine as long as there are some differences.

I think character customization is important however......

It seems that all games make the mistake of making high end equipment all the same. So regardless of how uniwue your characters face is it will not normally distinguish you from others. This is the problem with not making high level equipment either varied in appearance or seperate but equal. It is unfortunate that one type of loot is the most uber and everyone in your profession is wearing it

In the end we all end up looking alike anyway no matter how unique our base character looks.

I couldn't have said it better myself. You are exactly right. So, how do they fix that? Just being able to dye it isn't enough. The epic armor all looks the same. I likes in Diablo II how you would have very rare sets of armor that you could collect.

Im definately a 3. Oh look! 50 types of hair color! Oh wait, you cant see hair, since its covered by a helmet. Oh look! 30 types of eye color! Oh wait, unless you zoom in all the way youll NEVER see the persons eye color. Oh look! Tons of height, weight and age adjustments! Oh wait, since everyone is covered up by tons of armor, it doesnt matter anyhow.

Honestly, character customization comes from what you wear, not your facial features. If everyone is wearing the same armor, then THAT is a problem. If everyone has the same freaking eye color, who cares? I spent forever in AC1 and DAoC, and I didnt give a damn about character customization. All I wanted to be is the only troll wearing bright red armor, and in my realm there were only 2 of us with that combination. Thats enough uniqueness for me.

I put an 8 as well.

Just to add... RuneScape's character customization system S.U.C.K.S.

When I (regretfully) played, there were people who looked exactly like me EVERYWHERE! It is truely the crappiest game I've ever played.

Well, I put an 8. To customize a hairstyle while wearing a helmet is kind of redundant. People wanted different eye color too. How often are you going to be looking at someone's eye color? Bur, if its not too difficult to implement in the game, why not. What I think is important for character differentiation, we have to look at our every day lives. Take stature for example; tall, short, skinny, fat, muscular, and lank are just some variations of how we catergorize different people. Even how a person stands is a physical characteristic. Stand hunched down, arms crossed, feet pointed outward, shoulders broadened, and back straight are another category to fit people in. Hell, look at skin color. How many variations do we have there? All in all, I think there a several different ways to customize characters. If you want "life like" customizations, why not look at real life itself. Just my two coppers.

Well as i want in ALL MMORPGS are 2 armorslots of everything!!! So that you can wear tweaked on armor in the armor slots AND social clothes in the other slots. So that you can switch outside battle. I have not seen this in any MMORPG, So i am quite dissapointed about that. AND that's why i put 10 in charcter design. Becuase then you can show off your creativety, and not to have tweak all the good gear on again. What you think of my idea? Like it? And when you have two armor types in 1 slot. Some would like two armor pieces in 1 slot. But then you make Social armor with out stats and armor with. Im good!!

    Here is my idea:

Head armor: / Social head armor/clothes
Chest armor: / Social Chest armor/clothes
Legs armor: / Social Legs armor/clothes
Feet armor: / Social Feet armor/clothes
Hand armor: / Social Hand armor/clothes
Sulder armor: / Social Sulder armor/clothes
Fingers armor: / Social Finger armor/clothes

For me it's just the clothing. I love it when they allow us to create our own outfits and armor to wear. Tailors are very useful in any game :)

For me character creation is second only to combat, it is of the upmost imprortance, If the game has crappy character creation then I won't play long, like FFXI, really no MMORPG has good character creation, its way too limiting, and that includes CoH.

you want to see a good character creation system play a WWE game or Tiger Woods PGA Tour, now thats how character creation should be

Don't you worry little buddy. You're dealing with a man of honor. However, honor requires a higher percentage of profit

  • ArxonArxon Member UncommonPosts: 175

From what I've heard, character customization was the best thing about CoH. But one thing that won me over for WOW is the fact that I can finally play as a dwarf! Dwarves Rock!!
