I agree spellweaver. I never made it to the dragon as our group got bugged by this guy. After that I haven't tried VONS again.

Dragon was a fun raid but the demon queen and the Titan raids were to me better ones.
There is definitely a lot more involved in the Titan raid. I'm a little bitter, cause one of the assholes we grouped with dropped one of the pillars on my bard and killed her after the battle, then made some derogatory comments about female gamers. Bleh! However, Titan raid IS pretty impressive. I found Demon Queen a pain in the ass lol
Well what do you think ? Me and my gf stopped WoW and looking for a nice game to play together... Any opportunities for decent duo content ? I d/led the trial and I am gonna give it a try but wanted to see what you peeps think
I'd go for Guildwars instead, it works better for 2 players and have no monthly fees either.

Well it is a cheap game, personally I found the lack of movement (feet glued to floor) and the fact it felt like a single player game too much. PvP doesn't interest me and it is very click and forget, so had little or no holding power.
I didn't totally hate it, but I did get the feeling that I would have been better off booting up a proper single player offline game.
Well actually my gf used to play Guild Wars on her own in the past, she said its a nice game etc. but she isn't really keen on going back to it...
I played it myself since I own all 3 campaign and never found myself caring more than 7-8 levels and indeed I always felt like "I could have been playing something else".
So far we're leaning towards a combination of LOTRO + DDO (DDO is 4.99 at Atari store now if nobody noticed!) - An open world game etc. and if we just wanna dungeon our way then we play DDO. I kinda like the concept of no regular MMO quests and only dungeons so ..:)
I think we'll start in 2 weeks - Sounds like a good time for both games, Mod8 for DDO, MoM for LOTRO and tbh I kinda like Turbine so far:P
zspawn, both games are a lot of fun. The dungeon design in DDO is some of the best I think next to the old days in AC. LOTRO as you said I enjoy the open world. Both games in my opinion have a great community.
Anyways, don't forget to get your free in game item from mmorpg.com. Hey free is free!
Unfortunately that's for US version as far asI can see
Anyway I play some LOTRO now on my own and it's a great game definately gonna be my main MMO..
I played some GW today as some1 suggested i feel to disconnected from the game... I don't really know what's going on and feels more like a single player game...
DDO is 6 euros or so now so I guess it's a cheap month trial
(I don't know why but this game always makes me turn back to it!)

You turn back to it because what it does well it does very very well.
the thing i found most disapointing about d and d online was it was actually quite lazy in its conception . it made the assumption players had not gone beyond the simple dungeon hack . i played the trial but essentially i was bored by the end of it . with an mmo you really want something thats going to last . i played a d and d for about 6 months in 1992 so im hardly what you d call hardcore .i cant see any reason why anyone couple or otherwise would want to play something this repedative , if you want a good game world you can explore together maybe try lord of the rings or warcraft . lord of the rings has a nice community and decent pve gameplay .warcraft i d say offers the best gameplay if not the best rpg experiance . a lot of kids play so you get lots of immaturity in it . the trick there is to find a quild with older members . i think in d and d your only going to find hardcore d and d fans its not got a lot ( if any) appeal for anyone else . proberbly the dullest mmo pay to play mmo i ve ever played. theres worse ones like vanguard but at least they tried . d and d followed a boring formula and well ended up being boring .

Actually most of DDOs dungeons are pretty unique and well designed. It does not lack for fun or excitement until you have played all the dungeons and then it tends to get repetative. DDO is not an explore the world MMo, it is a dungeon crawl MMo with much better combat and character creation than most MMOs. This game once you get past the trial is not just the simle dungeon hack. Your limited time in game explains why you may feel this way but the game has some amazingly fun dungeons to play that take more than simple hacking to get through. DDO is good for a duo if one of you plays a healer you can probably go quite far. The key is how you multiclass to make the most of limited number of characters in your group. Of course the hirelings will be a big help.
Vanguard is completely different from DDO but is far from dull. It does have a huge world to explore but the character creation process is right now kind of cookie cutter. Vanguard is working on an AA system whicg may bring some variety to classes that currently only seem to have one build per class that is good.
Vanguard is trying every day to improve. I would suggest you research a little before offering commentary on things you have no actual knowledge of.
Well I did play WoW and it's a grindfest in the end.
I played it for 3 years and a half and I have like 3 level 70s all full epicced out and been up to Hyjal.
Thing is the game is about an open world but to be honest it's really small.
Why ? Ok let's see - if you wanna hardcore raid all you do is fly to raid and go inside. Or even worse wait at a major city and be summoned....
If you wanna PvP you just dwell in the battlemasters room and queue to NPCs for either arena or BGs...
From all MMOs I played LOTRO EQ2 and VG have the open world feeling cause you travel constantly. EQ2 was probably the best with vast number of areas...
Anyway you shouldn't compare DDO with LOTRO / WoW and tell me to get that cause I already mentioned we are gonna play LOTRO. But I can see myself playing LOTRO *AND* DDO simply because DDO has no open world, travelling, crafting grinds or all that. I can just jump in a dungeon it seems and complete it...
That way I think it can be played in conjunction with another MMO
Btw I already got the game it was 4.99 as I mentioned with a free month !
The usual EU practice is to say we will get it a week or two after the US, in which time the US has problems (sometimes exploit blocking rather than problems) so it is put off until the first patch is available. The exact same thing has happened with Mod 8, we were supposed to get it yesterday (13th), but was delayed, with no new date given.
It is a bit of a shame that the time gap tends to mean we have a lot of the surprise sucked out of any new module. Not so much of a problem with new content, but events such as the devil invasion are pretty much ruined by it ending in the US before the EU starts.

It really is a shame that events are run in such a way that they can be ruined for the EU players. I expect modules to be ruined due to people playing the test server, but special events would be nice if they ran some for you guys in the EU first. This should be for all games as it seems the EU servers are always one of the fuller and as such should be treated more equally.
There are alot of games out there that can be considered having duo content. I don't quite know what you really want or don't want out of a MMORPG to tell for certain sorry.
Most of the game I know of that 2 people can have fun spending time together doing stuff are usually pretty challenging games, or very harsh to either your time or your money, or both even.
If you edit and give more preferences in a game I might be able to help out better. However, since this is the D&D online section. I'll recommend you not choose D&D online for couples, but hey, I can be wrong.
Well I haven't had the chance to play that much, plus I'm waiting for the new Mod for the starting area (and my gf to arrive on Monday so we can play together).
I rolled a fighter since I'm mostly a melee guy... I liked the way the characters move and such, I've done some dungeons but I'm looking for a guide for newbies to understand how the game works (ranks, levels or whatever).
I like that you have many choices on how to build your character and that I can mostly jump in do a dungeon and logout.
A lot of people complain about lack of open world but hey, I got LOTRO for that. I just like instancing (I did it a lot in WoW) so DDO is perfect for me so far !
Well my gf used to play Guild Wars, that was her first MMO....We couldn't play together cause she was living in a +8 timezone so we never tried together...
I did try it with a friend tho but moving around together in group seemed like a chore :
Then she moved in with me for 4 months so we gave WoW a chance.
Levelling and instancing together from level 1 was the most fun I ever had in an MMO (even if I was playing 2 years of WoW and doing endgame with another char).
Anyhow, WoW grew a bit stale when we capped... She's more into exploring and questing, reading the descriptions etc (thus we will play LotRo) however she liked instancing and raiding a lot - but WoW was too time consuming so she got bored of farming a 5man dungeon for -1- item or badges or raid for DKP 4 nights a week 4 hours a day... So we needed something of our own pace
I'm looking for a "2nd MMO" just to break the monotony of levelling up - So it's kinda pointless to play for example LotRO and EQ2 I guess - But LotRO and DDO seems like a sweet combination for some reason...
If you do the dungeons on elite pretty sure you're not going to be killing them in one hit.
Mod 8 would be good for you like it was me. It has builds at the beginning when you create your character on how you want it to be developed out over time.

My hubby and I played DDO together for about a year and loved it. I still play but he has returned to pnp style. As for just the two of us. I ran a cleric and he played a barbarian. There were few quests where we actually needed someone else in party (rogue for instance). Raids are a bit different though. Most raids are completable with as few as 5 people. Some can be soloed, I am not uber l33t by any stretch of the imagination so I have not soloed any raid to date. However, as a couple, we had a blast and in the US on Khyber server, you will find lots of couples running together. You will also find full families running together for that matter. Give it a 10 day trial and check out Korthos village together. Everything on the island can be done with just the two of you in party.

Yep pretyt much agree that this is the best plan for you. DDO is different and a good diversion. LOTRO and EQ2 seems pretty pointless to play simultaneously to me and i have played both.
EQ2 is a fine game for what it is but, IMO, LOTRO is better all raound and certainly more of the pace you mention here. There is definitely a certain WoW like grind to the raiding and such in EQ2. While that exists in LOTRO it is by no means necessary and this is coming from someone who detests the reputation grinds in LOTRO. Also LOTRO is chock full of small intimate kinships (guilds). I would say they are the majority and the big time raiding, hardcore, whatever are tolerated by not really held in any special regard by most people.
Also with Moria the exploration end of things definitely get taken up a notch. EQ2 has some real good exploration too with its expansions and packs and various other things. But it has nothing like Moria.
Both good games, I think LOTRO suits your needs better though. I like EQ2 but parts of LOTRO are just nice. The shire is just restful. Doing the quickpost quests is sometimes just a great diversion and I really have no special love or lie of messenger quests. Some of the cinematic parts of LOTRO are great. I got to play a session as a dwarf and see the release of the Moria Balrog. Got to fight off the watcher to enter Moria. DDO has nothing of the kind. DDO is for kicking ass and taking names.
