1:is there lag playing on the busiest server or would you never even notice? (or ill play the second most populated).

2:i play alone ALOT, which class would best facilitate this? (thinking monk)

3:are guilds/clans important?

4:having heard a party is a big part of this game do alot of people dual box? (would kinda suck)

since no one has replied to this, ill see what I can do (note: I have only been playing the game for 3 days so my info may not be too accurate)

    1. I looked around and went with the "biggest" server. Remember, not a lot of people play this game at all (not to necessarily say its dead, just not THAT lively) So even on the biggest server I wouldnt expect much lag at all. I havent experienced any yet and havent read of any complaints when browsing forums.

    2. The only input I can recommend is look at the soloability level at the character creation screen... I know its obvious but take it for what its worth  :P

    3. I would think they are because as you said in question 4, grouping is "big" part of the game.

    1)  I don't think how busy the server is makes a difference in DDO.  You don't knotice much lag for most of the game,  but you can get the occasional nasty lag spike (where everyone freezes for a moment) in a couple of endgame quests/raids.

    2)  Just be warned that solo play is very very very difficult in DDO (not impossible). Normally soloists are experienced players who are doing the quests as a challenge.  HIrelings are coming out very soon, which should make soloing a little easier.  I would say the precreated characters they offer in character generation are the best for soloing.  Rather, I think you'll need to do some research and customise a character.  I would think some kind of TWF Ranger with a splash of monk and rogue,  a WF Arcane (wizard or sorcorer also maybe with a rogue splash), a battle cleric, or a well built tank (fighter, pally, barb), would all pffer solo options.  People will readily offer builds on the forums for you.

    3)  I have played 95% of my gaming in pick up groups.  This is mainly due to the fact that most guilds don't have large amounts of players on when I am playing (in the early hours).  However, a lot of players participate solely in guild, or a mixture of guild and PUGS.   A lot of guilds seem verygood.

    4)  What's dual box?  When you play a charcter on two machines?  I would suggest it's rare.  I have never suspected anyone of it.  FOr most people DDO would be too fast to play with two characters.  Maybe I am naieve.

    I hope that helps :)

1:  When there is lag it tends to be a global issue that spans all servers.

2:  You can play solo although you're be missing out on the greater content the game has to offer at higher levels.  Any class can and will faciiltate solo play although it's dependant upon many things, one being loot, which is going to be difficult to acquire if you're spending 100% time playing solo.  If your MMO experiance is jaded I understand, if you're anti social, that's another issue.  The community in DDO is damned good for the most part although there is a rare occasion of meeting an idiot.

3:  yes, they are the backbone to a social online structure while providing an over glorified "looking for more" (LFM = spots in a group for a quest) chat channel.  I would say they are VERY important if you're to experiance the better content, more challenging encounters and have a chance at the best loot.

4:  Very very very few people do.  It's played in real time with XYZ cooridinates that involve good reaction times.  This is not a WoW clone nor a typical "korean mmo".  It's more of an action adventure real time hack-n-slash strategy game then a turn based button masher.

Dual boxing is possible but not exactly easy. Remember this is a live combat game. Roll of the dice can be a huge difference in any given battle and every battle depends on you and the movement of the mobs. I dual box only with a rogue to stand by and disable traps.

Solo style play is very possible but it is still very limiting. You will also lose alot of loot. Most players in groups will "offer" up items for roll or hand over scrolls or wands for the casters because they can't use them. As a veteran player, when I roll up a new toon, I have loot to pass down from other characters that don't use them anymore. So in party, if someone is new, I will hand over all kinds of stuff that I know they will need in future quests.

Lag is a universal thing but it is very intermitten. Also, because this is an instanced game, you find that most lag issues are in public areas or in heavy spell casting scenarios.
