    bah, no use refreshing yet, 3rd batch will come (if it comes) earliest tomorrow if they send the mails tonight. But good news!

  • originaleggoriginalegg Member Posts: 1,099

    Going to reply to my own thread real fast because my post count was at 666 and thats just not gonna fly.

    Here is the update for the lazy:

    "A very quick update:

    We sent out the second batch of beta invites last night and we’re going to continue inviting people as needed by our testing process. There’s no ETA to the invites, we’re moving along based solely on our needs. We might invite more people in as early as tonight, and as frequently as every day. The testers are under strict NDA and it would be very unfortunate if we had to ban people and/or to modify our testing - so we would like to ask everyone to respect our process and procedures, even those of you not yet in the beta.

    If you’re not in the beta yet, please don’t take this personally, it’s likely you don’t fit our immediate testing needs. There are a lot of criteria, but it can be as simple as hardware, location, time zone etc. We appreciate your understanding as we're trying to get Darkfall ready, we take this process very seriously.

    Another thing: We mentioned this before but there is no official Darkfall pre-order. Sites that offer Darkfall pre-orders are not affiliated with us, and we don’t support their offering in any way.

    Finally, in our beta invites we’ll never ask you for your password. We’re not asking for any information, we have everything we need in your beta sign up. There are fake beta invites circulating, and you need to use some common sense and be careful.

    That's all for now, we'll keep you updated about any changes or developments."

    I think that this game will be available only by download if it's coming out in 2008.

    That bastard Tasos has perfected the art of keeping me just barely hopeful enough that I continue checking the DF site every couple of hours...

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Self-confessed DF fanboy. Finally a real ****ing MMO.
    Interesting, if true.
    If this is the start of a genuine and substantial public beta testing phase culminating in open beta we will be seeing leaks over the next few days and weeks or simply playing ourselves.
    Until there are leaks we know they only have a very small testing population comprised of specially selected and trusted friends, community members, and affiliated guild members etc.
    Every real public beta has leakers, Darkfall public beta will be no different if its really happening.
    Until the leaks start we know they are not in a real public beta comprised of a significant number of randomly and/or anonymously selected on criteria testers.
    true but this is not OB yet.
    I find it quite funny that Tasos clearly has a "we're gonna do things our way, like it or not" attitude which I actually find quite refreshing. There's no spin, PR or papering-over of the truth. He just tells it like it is.
    Polar's right.  Every major beta has had leaks right from the get go, and DF in particular I imagine will have testers dying to share their thoughts given the controversy surrounding the game. We all have to the right to our own opinions, and I personally won't believe beta is underway until I either get an invite or see leaks.
    Yup i feel the same way.  Until he lies to me after i have invested money in his product, I have no reason to not trust him.  He just tells it like it is and if the game ends up sucking and it blows up in his face then so be it.
    Most people cant comprehend why Aventurine is not hyping it up big time so close to an apparent release.  It boggles their minds why they arent acting like AoC did, and im not sure why they would want another AoC but /shrug.
    Good update and hopefully one of the possible daily beta invite batches will find its way to my inbox.
    "The monsters are tough. I was looking for a challenge, but these things are just too damn smart." -DF Beta Tester
    "If people were dismissing it, then they wouldn't be talking about it. The well-meaning gamers root for efforts that try to raise the bar. So who's left? It's so easy being a skeptic." -Tasos
  • imbantimbant Member Posts: 1,291
    Also im glad this clears up all that nonsense from yesterday.  People who were boasting about how Aventurine missed another date or whatever excuses excuses should feel pretty silly right about now.
    Well unless you believe its still all an omg wtf scam.
    Exactly my feelings.
    And he ain't going to see any money until I try the game.
    Trolls really get too hot and bothered about this game for no reason.
    This is not another DnL.............it might fail of course, but Aventurine is not going to rip off people, at least not any more than Mythic and Funcom did with their shallow games.
    You guys know the rule - puff,puff, give
    Seriously, Tasos tells it like it is?  That is demonstratably false, or we would have been testing beta years ago.  Aventurine has a clear record of "telling it how they wish it would be" and when it doesnt happen, they ignore it, moving on to the next piece of "good news".  I was shocked to see them recently admit they were 2 weeks behind on beta, that is the only straight talk in recent memory!
    While funcom certainly ripped off the community...i really have to disagree that Mythic did.  Say what you will about the game or how shallow it is, but they were also relatively straight up and delivered a game in stable condition.  I played it for awhile but it was just WoW again with more interesting classes in my opinion so I quit.
    Now if Mythic was going to "rip us off" they would have pulled a Funcom and not told us about the cut classes and cities until after release.   I still hold a lot of respect for Mythic for just comming clean and saying look guys we are cutting stuff out because it wont be ready and we dont want to delay.
    Yea it was a very unexpected surprise when I went over to the official forums earlier this morning for sure.
    And thanks for the kind comment =) I like to think that there are still people on these boards worth sticking around to discuss the game with.  Just have to have a thick skin to get past the trolling that has plagued this forum.
    As you can see I put an enphasys on "shallow".
    To me it doesn't matter if a game is buggy, half done, devoid of content (AoC) or simply boring (in WAR case).
    Mythic hyped the game as the best PvP experience you ll ever have, when in fact it was all reduced to Battlelground...sorry Scenario grinding.
    And this after all the testers told them in beta, 1 year ago that the RvR as it was wasn't working.
    Do you think they would have changed it?
    Of course thety didn't, focusing on few instanced PvP zones (scenarios) was much easier than redesigning the mechanics of the open RvR.
    Mythic was walking with a pair of glasses with dollars note in place of the lenses, just like Funcom.
    So for me that was a rip off, you might not consider it as such, fair enough.
    But I disagree on your disagreement.
    PS: And to be honest it wasn't a rip off for me technically, since I played the Beta for 8 months and had the chance to get bored long enough not to buy the game.
    False beta bans happen everytime there is a beta announcement.
    I am a skeptical supporter of DF. I am not a fanboi nor a troll. I seek the truth in every discussion, and I am truly sorry if I mistakenly state a fallacy.
