Today i turned on my computer, went to check my email, and the SAVED info didnt let me log in. I got an error code that said something along the lines of "the account doesnt exist, or the password and username is incorrect".
This often happens with hotmail/msn, (random errors, works later). So im not too worried at this point.
I proceed to start WOW, and again, the username is saved, and i have a G15 keyboard, and we'll say G1 is binded/macro'd to my password. I enter this, and it says "the username and password is incorrect"
I try it again thinking i may have hit the G button twice, as ive done before, sure enough, thats not what happened.
Sounds to me like i got keylogged/hacked. Ive used my credit cards to renew wow subs, buy pizza offline, etc etc.
What do i need to do? Call blizz and have them cancel wow and change pass over phone, cancel my credit cards used on this computer. And MSN has no PHONE NUMBER that i can find to contact them... just make a new email and pretend the old one never got stolen?

If you see charges in your account that you didn't do then yes cancel your credit card. As for your WoW account just call them on Monday, the will ask you a few questions to confirm it's your account, and then they will reset the password for you. At most you would have to fax them a notarized document saying it's your account blah blah.
Once you get your account back if everything was deleted just throw in a ticket saying your account was hacked and you need a roll back. If your character was deleted you can make a lowbie alt and tell them what's up.
No matter what happens to your account as long as you are the original owner you can always get your stuff back.
Edit Add: In the meantime download Ad-aware and some free antivirus software. Scan your computer and make sure everything is clean before you get your password sent back to you.

So cancel credit cards for sure. As far as MSN hotmail. I dont get much important email, mostly junk. Do you think id be safe just making a new email and making like nothing ever happened? Or should i follow through as much as possible with Hotmail customer support as well?
Probably be easiest to reformat the hard drive to make sure whatevers logging/hacking is gone?
If the email account didn't have anything important in it then I'd junk it. I suggest going with Gmail as they are just better all around in my opinion. If you think you will want your hotmail account back at all I suggest doing it now rather than later.
Edit Add: Yeah you can format as it's the best way to get rid of all the nasty stuff. Just make sure you get some kind of anti virus in place before surfing around a lot and make a practice of checking your computer at least once every few weeks.

I actually have a pretty good anti virus that I pay for. It does cause problems sometimes, but it keeps my computer safe. I have the three computers for a year deal and I have it on two computers already so if you'd be interested I could PM you the details to be the third user.
Edit Add: Don't listen to the poster below me. My bf and I have both been hacked, our stuff deleted, and we got all of our stuff back. Stop scaring the poor guy karat!

Good luck getting your stuff back. My old guildleader was hacked and lost everything on all of his 70s and they told him sorry about your luck.
Frankly at this point i could give a shit less about my epic 70's.. im more or less worried about any personal info SS# ever entered, credit cards, ya know.. RL things like that.
I can always re-lvl considering how easy it is, but like i said.. RL crap first.
sorry to ask again, but do you think just re-formatting the HD would be the safest, most guaranteed way to be rid of whatever is logging or hacking?
Most junk today is easily removed with Ad-aware and some type of anti virus program. If you don't want to have to download drivers and lose all your important files, if you don't have a secondary drive to back them up, then just try to antivirus and ad-aware method.

Yes, I reformat mine once a year. If I have anything fishy going on then I do it even sooner. In fact I'm reformating my gaming PC over Thanksgiving weekend.
Thanks again all.
My pc is extremely new, drivers are easy enough to install, only pain is wow again due to so many patches, but id feel more secure KNOWING it was gone vs, being somewhat unsure with ad-aware and anti virus.
If it matters in any way shape or form, if i got it from a wow addon the only ones i was using were-(keep in mind i was hacked 2 days after installing them). Quest helper, cartographer, and damage meters.
Odds are i stumbled onto a bad link or something i guess.. still keep an eye out if you installed those addons recently.
This is what has kept my computer free of problems for a year now:
1 - Install Superantispyware (free)
2 - Install Avast (free)
3 - Install Mozilla Firefox and never use IE.
4 - Cancel WOW account every month, so the card information is deleted, inmediately after resubscribing for one month.

This is an online virus scanner. When you get a virus or trojan it will turn off whatever viruskiller you uses without telling you.
Use it and then get a good viruskiller together with add-aware. Then try running the online scanner again. Also get a good firewall, Zonealarm is good and free.
See that your windows is updated with the latest patches also.
That should be enough but if it do anything odd again, reformat the harddrive totaly.
This is why I don't ever use a credit card on the net if I can avoid it. Gamecards cost a litle more but it is safer.
Don't see why you would have to do #4 as the complete credit card information is not viewable from your account. It only shows the first 4 digits and the last 4 digits just so you can verify which card it is, it doesn't display the whole number.
So let me get this straight, you think someone hacked your email accounts and your wow account. It's a new computer and you use a G15 keyboard. Have you tried using another keyboard? Can you access your info on a different computer? I wouldn't format my drive until I verified this from another computer.
With ID theft call your bank, credit card company as well as equifax and get your credit frozen. I had my ID stolen last year, sucks.
Yes i tried my laptop, and gf's computer for both emails and WoW on my laptop. it was definitely changed.
I re-installed windows, ran AVG free version about 3 times, fully updated, ran AD-aware free 3 times. deleted all cookies etc etc. Is there any other way i can be POSITIVE im not still being logged?
Also already cancelled my credit card that i use online, so that should be safe now.
