Wow, that really is a good deal! I remember when Earth and Beyond closed down, all I got was a copy of UO with the free month.
I would have reactivated yesterday if I somehow knew about this!
what pisses me off is the fact i was going to re-subscribe last week however i put it off. so mega lose for me. Aion looks great, however it will probably go the way the TR and Auto Assault went.
/shakefist
the difference is taht auto assault and tr were nc soft adventures to the western market and werent developed so close to "home" then aion.

I hate when companies do this part.
Wouldn't it be common knowledge that a new game would allow everyone the chance to pre-order a new game? How else would any company be able to get that headstart on sales?
Tied in with that, wouldn't one free month subscription come with the said pre-order? I don't know any recent games in the last few years that didn't include this 'value'.
The first two are good if you like playing those two games. If you were bored of them and played TR, why would you go back? Kinda like someone tired of eating broccoli, then they win a 3 months supply of broccoli from their local grocery chain.
The real value I see in here would be the Aion beta access. I would have loved to get a chance to get in and look around.
I guess they are sweet to do something, but I hate when things you normally get anyways are always posted as a 'bonus' or 'added value'.
How about free copies of Aion to all people subbed in TR until the end? That would have been a REAL bonus. Don't think it would have cost that much money either. (they would have got it back in subs from the old T.R. people later).
"TO MICHAEL!"
No way in hell lol. Korea alone will keep Aion going for years and years.
What part of "including digital client" didn't you understand?
I guess the part about being able to pre-order access. Why would someone have to 'pre-order' free access? Sounds weird.
I was thinking more of a free BOX, a tangible thing you can have (a lot of people still prefer box over digital for a variety of reasons).

It makes no economical sense to give away a free box. Be grateful they're giving away the client.
As for the pre-order access, sometimes limited pre-orders are available with certain benefits for those who manage to.
Friend, I'm not trying to start a argument here. It's just a discussion, lol. Did you have your morning coffee yet?
I'm not talking economics and they are pretending to ignore them to make customers happy. The advertising here is they are implying giving away 'free' items or bonuses. 3 months access to their games doesn't make good economical sense either, they are losing money from those subs if that's what you mean.
Again, I'm just trying to point out the company is not doing something stellar here, which is typical of any company. I am not company or game bashing so you shouldn't feel the need to defend them.
I still stand by my post that if they are really trying to make up for the fact they are closing a game some still like and want around, make it a REAL gesture. I know those loyal TR fans would probably have loved to get their hands on a free box copy of Aion(dare I even say Collecter's edition) as a "thank you" for playing. How much do you think overall that would have really cost them? Not even 1 million dollars probably. I don't know how many people were still subbed to TR, but if it wasn't over 20,000.. @ $50 a box copy it would not have cost them over that million. (They also could have written that off as well).
That would have made way more sense from a public relations standpoint to cover the closing. It also would have been huge in the MMO industry as a real first thank you from a company to customers.
Imagine other folks who play other games hearing about this? Best publicity ever, and satisfied TR fans. Probably would have made them wander over here if they were on a fence. ("REAL customer service? OMG!")
I think I'll just read the rest of the thread, not looking for a fight.

There has to be a catch, for all we know this 3 month play for free thing is just an extended trial period....after the 3 month free play it's up to you too pay for the client....
I'm not trying to be rude at all, what I am saying is:
The free gifts they're giving away at the moment cost them little, but giving away physical copies will. What they are giving away is definitely alot of bang for one's buck. Purchasing all of said free gifts seperately will cost one quite a bit.
That, or they're hoping you'll like the games and continue playing.

I agree, although the way you put it sounds like NCsoft should stick with the Korean market.
