These Darkfall news remind me of Age of Conan... one year before it launced!

All I seem to hear about is how smart the goblins are. This leads me to believe they have only finished ONE small starting zone with goblins and all the people that are in "beta" (if there is one) can only play in that zone. This reminds me of Age of Conan long time ago when they did these press events where they only showed Tortage beach because other content was bugged or missing.
How can any sane person think Darkfall will launch this year? Look at the facts:
- No marketing
- No credible beta leaks
- No info about launch date
- No info about a LOT of stuff
Do I need to go on?
And this latest "review" by 2 italian forum guys is a complete joke. I actually laughed out loud when I heard about it. It still puts a smile to my face 
. What are we going to have next? Three Eskimo forum guys telling us how they joined beta servers from their iglu?
I really hope I am wrong. If they DO lauch and the game is awesome, II will come back here and admit I was wrong. Unfortunately all the evidence points to the fact that DF is still on VERY early stages of alpha/beta.
If I were a betting man, I would say they will launch at the end of 2009 with tons of bugs still in the game.

Luckily, we don't really care what you believe, so Darkfall can release this year (or shortly after) complete as a game and make us all happy.
I very doubt OP is a girl in first place..forum handle is clearly misleading here ...
However the conclusion of the press members is

I don't understand what was so laughable about it. You do know that Italy is a pretty important country, right? It's not nearly as "backwoods" as your eskimo example.

I guess I understand your post, and I doubt a release this year too, but...why does any of this matter?
What does it matter if they are done yet or not? if they are credible or not? they haven't taken anyone's money really, if they release later then they've said they will...oh well they are certainly not the first to push back there release date. If the game sucks, oh well they would be only the 1 millionth mmo release to be really hyped and then completely suck. If the game releases with tons of bugs well they would fit right in on this webpage with all the others that have released this year.
IF they release on time and the game has bugs everyone will complain endlessly that they should have waited longer, if they wait longer everyone will complain they break ALL there promises and its total vaporwear.
The fact is The devs at Darkfall owe you nothing. They can release in a month or in a year it doesn't really matter. Maybe the game will deliver maybe it will suck we can speculate endlessly (and we have) but in the end only time will really tell.
Personally I fall somewhere in the middle. I dont think Darkfall is vaporwear, I dont think it will be released this year (in the us anyways, however I REALLY hope I'm wrong here). I think the game will be good, maybe not as good as everyone hopes, but I think it will be decent, but in the end only time will tell.
Goblins? I guess most folks just skimmed through the beta testers reviews; or is that previews. There were Ork Beastmasters, freaky bird-men, and hivekin mentioned.

I also find it funny that there are now terms like "credible beta leaks". Btw there was a beta leak posted here earlier that may have gotten taken down.
Basically showing a screenshot that wasnt suppose to be released that showed global chat discussion etc..

I just found it funny that they invite 2 unknown random guys from a random country and ask them to do this "beta review".We all know English is the "common language" nowadays and if Aventurine was serious about this review, they would have invited someone from a known gaming site.
Didn't they do this same thing a year ago? Invite some random guys to do a similar review, telling us how the game is not vaporware?

Actually the random guy called them up and said he will be in the area can he come by and take a look.
Actually it appears that the 2 Italians called them up and said they wanted to visit the site and look at the game.
Oh, to your original post, I dont think the game will be ready by the end of the year. More likely by Q2 of 2009.
So this is how you get to play their game? Call them up when you happen to be on the area?
This is exactly the point I was trying to make. This kind of behaviour is not really professional now is it? What they should do, if they indeed have something good to show for, is to invite a group of known game reviewers from different gaming sites and magazines and let them write about DF without nda.
This Athens presentation was the most promising thing that has happened, all other stuff is just smoke and mirrors imo.
I do like the direction they are going with DF and I believe it could be an awesome game. I will be one of the first people to preorder when it's available. I'm just saying it won't launch any time soon.

Us taking someone's game updates at face value because he has no reason to lie to us is NOT the same as someone reading a review and obviously only reading and responding to things they want to make their point sound good. i.e someone reading a review that mentions goblins and other creatures...and someone like the above comming here and saying "lol so the game only has goblin in it this game isnt complete and will flop"

So I just wrote an E-mail demanding to testdrive the next Mercedes prototype they make. I guess I have to travel to the factory in germany, but as potential customer I would rather have the prototype shipped to my country.
I will write a review/preview on how the unfinished prototype perform. If my preview on the prototype is positive the BMW fans will probably go mental and call it vapovare. I realise I have to find the flaws in the Mercedes to make the preview credible.
Read my post again. I never said AoC had no marketing. FC did a LOT of marketing and hype (my personal favorite was their "Death Never Looked so Sexy!" campaign). I'm saying DARKFALL does not have any marketing. Well they have had something but not a real marketing campaign like they should have if they are planning to release the game.

But AoC wasnt even close to finished when it was released. Even with a huge adveritsment campain they failed with their product.
FunCom's fault, if they wouldnt overhype their game they might have a little better respons from the people playing it.
And those are the 'AAA' companies many here lay their only trust in.

Well not all forms of marketing are as expensive as tv-ads. With todays interwebs and all, you can do some solid marketing with much less money. But having no money is a no excuse. They should have money for marketing. If their marketing budget is zero then I'm sorry to say they are a bunch of amateurs who will probably fail big time. It's all about project management.
On the other hand if the product is awesome, word-of-mouth will kick in and after a couple of months they could have tons of subscriptions without doing any marketing at all. Lets hope this is the case.
