Awesome. This is one of the best reviews I have seen so far.
I love the movies you have posted. And especially:
"Once I got to the more advanced and later areas the graphic changed alot and amazed me more and more. Later I even found out that on your char you can see earrings and necklaces... I got a necklace that shines in all rainbow colors all the time... througout the game you will notice so many little details they have put in. From all the animations of NPCs which are moving around the city... some do work and bringing boxes from here to there... everything in the world is moving. Also your char is never standing still. Depending on the area they will do different actions, like cooling them with a blower in hot areas, pulling the sand of their clothes in dusty areas like deserts etc. ! You always see that Aion is finally another game where the developer actually put a lot of love and detail into."
After all these years it looks like we are finally getting a world that is alive
Fianlly something different form the cold soulless dead worlds ala Vanguard & Co.
Extremely thorough review, thank you! You provided us westerners with something to satisfy our thirst for the game. I read your review from the beginning to the end and, by the looks of it, the game will be a very fun play.
After you played it, you'd probably want to gouge out your eyes, lest you see other lesser MMOs artwork. It does look fantastic if you like this type of art direction, which I do The way those characters react in water by splashing around is really unique.
The world looks quite upbeat and positive, not so much gloom/doom like recent releases with all the darkness in them. (AoC, War, etc). They just have too much of a negative vibe emitting from them. In these crazy days (with mass killings in India recently) it's nice to have a game releasing with some built in cheeriness.
Only the big areas have a loading screen which are actually very fast (on my pc ~1 sec). But everything else has flawless changes, so no worries here. Its not like in AoC where you have to zone even into taverns ^^
Also regarding instances... they try to avoid that as best (luckily) - always think of that they dont want to make this another WoW where instances dominate the game. They want a MMORPG
Kind regards

Well I love the animations and combat style of Aion , but I wouldnt say its different from what we are used to in MMORPGs. So nothing new here, but at least what they did they did it right ^^

Thanks to share with us your impressions Lord Evil.
Will be great if you can get us up to date about how the game is evolving after the retail launch. Thanks in advance.

it was a very interesting view on the game

waiting for ... nothing..
That character creation screen is simply amazing. It's nice to see you have that flexibility in here to truly customize a character.
It looked like you could make any race or *alien race you wanted. Very nicely done. Does this support DX10?

No the game is DX9, but still looks beautiful and runs smooth like silk ^^

Wow, then I really couldn't imagine this in DX10.

Again, nice post.

Very nice review. I must say I'm dissapointed that they use instancing & have a severe lack of dungeons (5 really isnt a lot).
EDIT: One question tho; when you move from one zone into another, is it a flawless change of scenery or is there a loading screen?
Only the big areas have a loading screen which are actually very fast (on my pc ~1 sec). But everything else has flawless changes, so no worries here. Its not like in AoC where you have to zone even into taverns ^^

Very nice review....
But no word on the combat... Does it feel fresh compared to all those other MMO's that have copied more or less the EQ system.
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
Well I love the animations and combat style of Aion , but I wouldnt say its different from what we are used to in MMORPGs. So nothing new here, but at least what they did they did it right ^^

how about character customization through gear? Is there a lot of variety in item appearances?
Grymm
MMO addict in recovery!
EQ,SWG preCU,L2,EQ2,GW,CoH/CoV,V:SOH,
Aion,AoC,TR,WAR,EVE,BP,RIFT,WoW and others... no more!
Yes there is... I just bought me a new bow, which looks so awesome.
You can also see earrings and necklaces (some of them have really cool glow) ^^
So overall there is a lot of diversity, as far as I know you can also dye your armors, at least I saw those dye pots in AH...
Kind regards,
LD
