Console version of the Witcher now confirmed, superior to the PC versions

GameloadingGameloading Member UncommonPosts: 14,182

Looks like the console version will gain some noticable upgrades from the PC version

"Game designer Jakob Stilinsky says that the console version (for PS3 and 360) will be a little slicker. It'll feature extensive use of motion-capture for the character animations, have better lighting and environmental effects, improved enemy AI and full achievement and trophy support."

Not to mention that the combat system in the Witcher, I think, is just better suited for a controller rather than a keyboard and mouse.

Don't you worry little buddy. You're dealing with a man of honor. However, honor requires a higher percentage of profit

many people love Witcher. However, I never cared for it. I didn't hate it. It was just "bleh" for me.

People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.

I lol'ed when you posted it would be superior too the PC version.

The pc version is almost 14gigs, i want to see how they are going to do that.

The witcher isnt that great though.

Good for console users and people with weak PCs.

Personally, I'd definately prefer KB/Mouse controls. Specially considering they'd also need to create new a GUI, unless they want a mouse emulation of the analog stick(which is probably how it's going to be)

And the improvements: Improved Enemy AI -> It's an RPG. They mostly just zerg you.

Motion Capture for persons -> So they've made new animations for characters? I call bullshit. There's no money in that.

Better lighting and enviromental effects, yeah that is very well possible.

And you get achievements. Not really worth anything if you ask me.

So as stated, it's a little slicker.... hardly superior imo.

multiple dvds wouldnt do it, and xbox doesnt have blue ray. Also, consoles are naturally weaker tehn most top of the line pcs.

And  most of all, anything done on the console will ultimatly be patched for the pc.

The pc version had the same motion capture effects, the enhanced edition expansion added the lighting effects so it sounds like the superior aspect will be achievements...

ofcourse multiple dvd's would do it, The Witcher really wouldn't be the only game running on multiple disks. Lost Odyssey, The Last Remnant and Blue Dragon already have multiple DVD disks and so will Rage and Final Fantasy XIII.

Also, the game runs on the old Aurora engine and really isn't that demanding and it has the benefit that every console has the same architecture so the game can be fully optimized.

The additional lighting will probably be on top of the improvements already in the enhanced edition.

Also, there has been no confirmation whatsoever about any PC updates the console version will receive. If the updates are because of the optimization for the consoles, it's doubtful it will ever come to the PC version.

OMGZORS PC's are obviously for beta now.

I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.

Wait, Consoles get a game first, it's obviously because PC gaming is less important.  PC gets game first, obviously PC is beta.
