THE BEST...yet worst mmo of all time lol???

Ok guys. im talking about old style runescape. ill admit when i was like 11-13 i use to be hooked on the game. I loved the wilderness, it was kick ass pvp!!!!.

the game had a lot of people making proffit from there proffesions, well that was the only way to make money really, also people were merchanting stuff [e.g buy cheap sell high]

There was like 20 or so proffesions you could level. [althow most not usefull for making $$$$$$$] it was still kickass.

I think future mmo companies should take a look at runescape. get some idea's from it.

add some sweet graphics, spend a lot of time on the game, make sure it has smooth combat etc

Just my opinion guys

*prepares to get flamed*

I really loved Runescape Pre-Sissy Wilderness. The game had the perfect balance of complexity and simplicity. It was simple, but made you feel smart =P. Atleast that's how I felt. I really liked the sandbox style and how I could level magic AND ranged melee AND close combat. I think games like Darkfall will try to over complicate though...so we'll see. The quests were really cool too. It never felt like a grind (The quests that is...the rest of the game was a huge grind =P)

true, actually i've always been thinking the same way, never played runescape, but it always kept me interesting, is just the walking is slow, and well what else, basically slow paced, i think i full mmorpg, with client, will add mounts or some sort of mechanism haha, that will make travel easier, but what major companies should look at, is the diversity of gameplay runescape has, common if you're bored with something, you'll just do something else, yes you have crafting skill, or blacksmithing in other games, but is not quite intense as a sandbox game like runescape, that's why a give big props for runescape, even though being really fucked up in graphics

another thing, also if they could sand box type of gameplay, like runescape, and having a intense pve. like raid, instances and stuff, in a game, wow that we'll be huge, hope darkfall has that.

to the personal point, i hope it is not that dark as it says it is, and how it looks, looks mainly killing each  race off, mostly pvp, and no fantasy what's over, i like that there is some beautiful landscape to look at, im not saying like cartoon like wow, but jsut something imaginary, and yea i know orcs are included, but i think they must hav a mixture between dark and bright, makes the balance between gamers a lot better dont you think?

i also loved how if you dropped an item, it wouldn tjust "magicly go away" it would stay on the floor for a few mins >_>

i use 2 make fortune by going upstairs in varrok and wait for people to drop and swap lol. hehhe!!!!

also the mini game with the huge ass bugs that were like lvl 130 or 230 or what ever was great fun!!!! i remember ppl use to set up there cannons etc etc. it was kinda like a raid

I loved runescape to be honest.

I really think there is something to the way the skills are set up, so that you don't have actual character levels, but rather a host of skills you choose to level up where and how you want.

Runescape would be an awesome game if it wasn't Runescape.

You have a so-so skill system that tosses out a few good mechanics in favor of more achievement mechanics, used to have nice crafting mechanics and focus,  quests that aren't tasks, and a suscription model that doesn't use paid expansions.

I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.

This is Shadowbane for me.  Loved all the concepts, the game just couldn't handle itself server-side wise.

I was one of the first 250 people to sign up for that game.  Back when there was one server, world pvp, and was only 1/6 of the size it is now.

It was awesome.  I actually preferred the 2D style to the cleverly shaped blocked style they now call 3D.

I quit the day 3D came out.
