LOL - if you think class balance is an issue with WAR, you're in for a nasty suprise with Wrath! FWIW, I've never seen any game over the last several years get class balance to a point where at least 25% of the players were not constantly complaining. The inevitable nature of PvP is that some players will do really well, and some will struggle. And a struggling player will usually blame the game system, because everyone should be a winner, right? Candy for everyone!

    You obviously never played:

    A) Daoc and it's expansion warlord classes and/or

    B) WAR and it's endless "Zomg BW's! " cries :)

Pointing at Wotlk first and then try to defend WAR with balance whine = native to PvP = rofl :p

when blizzard has the guts to make an MMO with opposing factions that have unique and different character classes to choose from depending on the side you are on, then you can talk.  Until then you dont have a leg to stand on.  Horde Paladin anyone ?  No ?  well then make an Alliance Paladin.

    What a Joke.

If anything WAR is a new version of DAOC.  please dont try and start who copied who, because we all know Blizz makes a living off of copying other games ideas and stealing/implementing them into its own games.  The whole warcraft idea was born from Wahammer lore.  As far as the MMOs go,  I do believe wow now has a version of the Tome which first debuted in WAR...nice try tho.

Just an endless argument, WAR or WoW. If you canceled WAR you at least owe it to yourself to go back after the big patch or after the 2 new classes are implemented for everyone, if the game still sucks then at least you'll know its not for you.

As for me, I quit a few days after WotLK. Not because I went back to WoW, been there done that, that game is dead to me. I quit because my server, Dark Crag was a freakin ghost town. I didn't like the endless scenario grinding but it was the only real way to PvP, after they increased the queue time I was out. The game is mind-numbing and boring, there is really nothing to do unless you hit max level. Sure at 40 there are probably fairly decent RvR battles going but until you get to T4 you are S.O.L.

People can argue this way or that, tell me their server is this way or that, won't make a difference. If you enjoy playing WAR and it offers you all that you desire in a game then by all means play it, if you find it seriously lacking and can't stand it, bounce out and never look back. I fully intend to go back a week or two after new classes are in just to check it out and see if it got better.

Should people re-sub or sub for the first time, you will never find the answer on a forum. I ALWAYs play every new MMO that comes out hoping to find one that takes me back to the joy I had in AC and SWG(Pre-NGE). WAR held me for a bit but its the same routine over and over, just like WoW. For me WAR never delievered on massive RvR battles, least not at lower tiers. T1 and T2 it was a rare day indeed when you could attack a keep and get the other side to come and defend. T3 and T4 were slightly better. Although it is kind of disheartening to play a game based around RvR and you find yourself attacking Avelorn keep and having a rough go and every tiem you die and spawn in the warcamp there are literally 20-30 people milling around waiting for TA to pop.

I have little doubt that WAR will stick around, if they can get new players to want to play past the first few tiers they will be fine. Course who knows, I personally don't place much stock in a game that had to offer free character transfers and seriously PATCH the hell outta the game within the first month or so. Either they thought they were gonna have A LOT of people playing or they just put in too many servers, either way the last thing I should have to worry about when playing a game is, am I gonna find a server with people actually on it.

Rofl, WoW now has achievements which was *hardly* first introduced in WAR, it's an Xbox/LOTRO thing that has been around for ages.

As for WAR is a new version of DaoC... rofl, you wish, if it didn't live up to anything it's Daoc, nearly every Daoc player seems to be in consensus about that.

I think you will find that once you reach lvl 40, there are even less thing to do.  in all honesty, I probably have a lot more fun while leveling up.  After that magic 40, the game goes downhill.   Even on a decent populated server, RvR is lacking, Scenarios got boring pretty fast (particularly if you are on uneven server). High Lvl PvE, e.g. Bastion Stair / Gunbad / LostVale / Warpblade, well, that's the only bright side, but even then gathering qualified people for this took ages.    The WAR's community is dwindling.   A lot of the lvl 40s in my guild has been pretty much on inactive status.

I have to say that WAR core game design is flawed, it's a patchwork of zones with no glue binding them all together.

Tired of getting rolled day in, day out, week in, week out as an Order player in and outside of scenarios.  Tired of being badly outnumbered.  Tired of every zone I get into being Dest. controlled.

And irritated by the fact Mythic is nerfing one of the only 2 bright spots of the Order roster, since everything else there is a joke.

Anyways, I too once said I'd never quit a certain MMO, but the developers usually seem eager to throw reasons when you say things like that.

It all depends on server choice... last I checked order pretty much controls my server.... well in so far as any time destruction goes to capture stuff order follows us around capturing behind us then rolls us with 2 or 3 to 1 odds most times lol.  But it's all good, as far as nerfing one of the only 2 good classes on order side? wow, I must either really suck at my class or destruction in general mostly sucks on my server because it seems from my perspective that order gets all the love while destro... lol I can not even get my epic quest reward shield working since they refuse to patch ANYTHIGN having to do with destro lol.

Mythic basically has until 1.1 comes out as to whether or not I will continue playing.  They nerfed the fug out of chosen at the end of beta and with the buffs to everyone's dps and 0 buffs to our survivability I just don't feel inclined to play as much as I would want to.  However, that is a good thing in some respects :)  more dates, better grades, better work performance lol.

Dark Crag on a slow night is med/med and during primetime, High/Full.  So, umm, not sure you know what your talking about.

Also if you think adding a HUGE content patch, with new classes, improvements to UI, bug fixes, PVE content and new RVR rewards and influence is a bad thing, then your credibility with me is basically zero.  Also, the server merges was a great idea, the game does now appear to be growing again and there are now 18+ servers that have heavy traffic.    Just a few weeks ago there were 13 servers med/med.  Now there are 18 in primetime, many of which are hitting High and Full.

Right, because Warhammer released their tome of knowledge a few whole weeks before Blizzard released their achievements.   You do realize it takes time to design, program, test and implement things like this right?

Give me a break, both games got their inspirations from LOTRO [or maybe some other source].  Neither company pioneered this concept and neither stole it from each other.

I would be inclined to think Blizzard modeled their after lord of the rings based on similarities.  The term "tome unlock" sound like something taken from a first person shooter so I would guess Mythics inspiration came from some other source.

I will resub, love the game.I hate hearing that this is like WOW.WOW was not the first mmo WOW is a take off of  EQ and DAOC with auction house and mail added.WAR PvP is great and thats why ill resub.

I will resub. It still has some problems, but with each new patch it gets better.

It is better then diarrhea. Busdriver you might want to see a doctor about that, so you can get out of the house more.

  • SplixxSplixx Member Posts: 41

They might be popping a bit faster now, but how many weeks was it where you would wait 20-30 minutes? Yeah, thought so. In the beginning on any scenario you could get out and be back in another one in a couple of minutes. So the company decides to shoot themselves in the foot, lose a lot of their player base and then fix it, and you think all is well now? Now that is LoL! It is pretty easy to get new players, damn hard to keep em, and even harder to get them to come back.

If you have never played WAR and you are currently playing WoW you might as well stay there if you want mild PvP, just an endless BG/Arena type of fighting in WAR, which you can get in WoW. Only difference is that at least with WoW you get great PvE content, WAR offers next to nothing outside of scenario's with occasionally great RvR. Not a whole lot of WAR in WARhammer. I always recommend people to at least try the game out, but don't come to WAR expecting massive PvP fights. While they do occasionally happen they are the exception and not the rule. In the end if you enjoy WAR play it, if you prefer WoW play that. There WILL NEVER be a general consensus on games.
