Mythic has kept their word

that they were in it for the long run

If you haven't seen patch 1.06 and the notes for 1.1, do it, its refreshing. I am very surprised that EA decided to stick with it and keep funding the big and pricy team working on the game. If you have read any of my posts on this forum before then you know that I didn't buy this game because it was an unfinished piece of crap with a good core.

It seems like 1.1 will bring the game to the state it should have been at launch. (better late than never) :)

I think its a good thing that a company finally decided to keep playing instead of running in fear (Funcom). We really need more competition in the MMO sector and this can only bring good things for the gamers. We all benefit from this

I sincerely hope that their sales pick up after this, Mythic deserves it, they have proven that they can listen to the community and work on what is truly wrong with the game to make it a more enjoyable experience. If they keep this up I have no doubt that this could be the best MMO out there and I'm only a few good patches away from buying it :)

Good work Mythic (Screw GOA)

What do you mean when you say that Funcom ran in fear?

  • ZtyXZtyX Member UncommonPosts: 368

Do you realize how big Games Workshop is? Table top fantasy Warhammer is so big. ..

They have a real fanbase. Of course they're not gonna quit. But, yea. Good job.

And I don't think Funcom is running. They're just adapting to the new reality.

The game is weak from the core. The patches are nice, and I have no doubt they'll try to do whatever they can to please the players they have now, but what we got is far from what was promised, and to even get RvR to DAoCs standards, they would need to rework the entire game which is never going to happen. We have WoW with keep sieges. Some people like that. Personally, I thought they could at least do as well as they did with DAoC.

Bans a perma, but so are sigs in necro posts.

rofl, do you have any idea how far away this game's experience is from a tabletop experience? Apart from the fact that the characters look the same it's nowhere *near* similar.

I totally agree with you. Mythic can patch this game all they like but they would have to completely redesign it to turn it into a good game.

I mean that when they saw that the players were unhappy they panicked and made bad decisions. After the damage was done the lead guy resigned and the team working on the game was cut to only a fraction of what it was. Not that it won't be salvaged eventually but its going to take years, just like it did with Anarchy Online

Post was good, until this showed up.

    Um.. What? Screw GOA?

Even though you're from Canada and it might not concern you, what about the people playing on EU servers, screw them as well?

This should be: Good work Mythic, good luck GOA.

    ?

You have a strange way of looking at what I said

GOA has done an horrible job in EU and they should be replaced, everything I've read points to that. I haven't seen a single post from someone from that region that liked their work.

Ah I see so "screw GOA" means "GOA needs to be replaced"? I'm not an expert in the matter, but I think that changing companies is not something that is easy to accomplish. I think it will screw europeans even more so better keep it as it is.

Personally I haven't had any problems with them, and even if I did I'd never hope to screw any company over (yes, even Funcom).

Patch 1.06 hardly fixed anything. Many issues in the patch notes haven't been fixed at all (again).

Plus the performance has gotten worse for many (again).

Not to mention the constant kick backs to character select screen and the client crashing shortly after.

Every time they do a big patch, they manage to create instability within the client (again).

I hold my breath when patch 1.1 comes and the havoc it's going to create.

    Cheers

Maybe it would, that's probably a big problem that Mythic is trying to find a solution to right now. It's easy to say that they breached their contract and should lose it, but finding a more competent company is something else. I would think that EA would have ressources over there already though

Mythic made to many fundamentally bad design decisions and nothing short of a complete game overhall will fix many of them.

Im sighing right now.  I wont do an emocon because this is a forum.  Truly, I am disappointed.  I've been following the threads about "returning to war" or "war patch 1.0.6".  But its the same old.  From this point I can honestly say that war is sub par.  They had their chance.  Whatever, blow me away mythic, make me resub, if you come out with something unique and FUN! I will come back if people say its fun.

I'm not defending anyone here by any means, but patch 1.0.6 was mainly about balancing the classes and tweaking certain things. It was already known prior to its release.

The patch that most people are waiting for is 1.1, and I must admit after reading the patch notes (it is currently on PTS) it has a LOT of good things, providing everything works as planned and it doesn't impact performance negatively.

OP was curious because it was written by a person who admitted they haven't even purchased/played the game yet but feel Mythic deserves some praise.

Trust me, as someone else mentioned, unless you want supercharged version of WOW battlegrounds with Keep battles, this game won't be for you.  Mythic can't really do much about it either since they chose to model the game after WOW rather than their other legacy app, DAOC.

Now some people love the game as designed, but it just isn't working out for me.

But no doubt, Mythic's in it for the long haul, but the real question is, will EA stay with it?  They've got a history of pulling the plug on underperforming MMO's.

If the game is turning the way it should be with this pacht now, then I doubt we can say Good Work Mithyc. I sure hope the turns well amd they make a profit, I hope this for all the employees they have, but this is not a good work, this work should have been done before game release.

I totally forgot about the balancing debacle patch 1.06 brought.

*Witch Elves are left unharmed and still able to use the idiotic critting exploit and thus till OP.

*Sertain healers (like AM) have been nerfed so bad, that now even less people want to play a healer or started rerolling a different class now.

Instead they just nerf the classes that needed nerfing (BW, Sorc, WE damage) to bring them in line with the rest, they buffed all other damage more or less, so people are more bussy clicking the rezz button and walking back, then actually playing the game!

Balancing is a delicate issue and nerfs and buffs to classes will always be done.

But what Mythic did wasn't any delicate at all. And when hardly anyone wants to play a healing class anymore, then you've got a serious problem.

    Cheers

I really, realllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllly didn;t want it to come to this because I quit the other games I was playing to devote all my playing glory (LOL WTF) to warhammer but I must say, out of returnning to Eve, EQ2, and WoW, I see NO reason to continue warhammer.  EA or Mytic created subpar, I dont know which one but its obvious the impact is there

Got a survey from them in the mail one day. They asked if I ever would consider returning to the game. I wonder what the percentages on that answer is from the ones who bothered to answer that particular survey.

The problem is that the concequences of patch 1.06 become only really noticable in end T3 and T4.

I just rerolled my Knight (as it was always supposed to be my main) and in T1 and T2 these changes aren't really noticable yet.

But with my WL I could clearly notice it in T3 how fast you die now and it's just not fun anymore at this time.

Especially that healers now need to focus on single targets to heal as HoT's are crap now, you can forget being healed basically and the number of people dropping like flies so fast. You can forget getting any rezz anymore either.

So I really hope Mythic wakes up sooner then later and realizes what they have done.

Or I will drop the towel in the ring as well and give up.

How can you blame Mytic for healer not healing you? blame the stupid healers!

I play a RP and I have no problem keeping my pet groupmembers alive at all, as long as they stay with me and defend my hairy little as as they should.

I waited for war for close to 4 years and only ended up playing for 3 weeks. The game was nothing like they marketed it to be, they rushed the game out which they said they would never do. I am a huge warhammer fan but the version of the warhammer world EA made makes me sick. I have never in a game seen such dull environments and gameplay. i wanted this game to be great but its horrible, to put it bluntly.

I find it kind of funny that there are so many people on this forum that have already said "screw this game, it sucks" and yet they stick around.

I have a reason to stay, I'm keeping in touch to see if it improves in the hopes that it will eventually be at my level of quality. But it seems a lot of people here just want to whine, even 2 months after release. It doesn't make for very interesting discussions, its like talking to a couple of kids that just goes LALALA I can't hear you!

Haven't you guys learned the meaning of "letting go"?

  • GnazonGnazon Member Posts: 442

You know that the game has problems when, when a patch is released people _immediately_ start looking forward and discussing the next patch, which is exactly what seems to have happened here. As someone has said here already you cannot fix WAR without redesigning the core elements of it, so I am willing to bet that as soon as 1.1 hits the servers, we all be discussing the new awesome 1.11 patch. :P
