8 is not a bad number for classes though if it is true... and if they are sticking to how the Jedi have their Warrior/Conselor/Sentinel, then is it safe to assume that each of the other classes will also have 3 variations as well?
If so.. 24 path choices is not too shabby...
Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.
"Unfortunately, the most interesting aspects of the game are the ones least is known about. Confirmed are realm vs realm, player vs player, raiding and space travel."
Being Bioware, it should be fun regardless of the number they put on it. That said, I wish it was more like the ORIGINAL SWG classless system. And nothing was "predefined" as a class. Oh well. Some day....

This should be humorous. I can't wait to see Bioware's absolute failure with this MMO. Just my opinion and a pure guess! No reply needed.
Just so there is no confusion about the screenshots associated with the article, they aren't new.
They have been been previously posted by another member of of the swtor forums somewhere a long while ago along with some concept art including what looked like a 'home interior'. Herethey are again for anyone who may have missed them the first time around:
Thanks for the info. I added it to the sticky up top. It looks like the reporter mentions the eight classes and not the interviewee(?). i wonder if this was a slip of the tongue or if he was given the info. It will be interesting to see if this holds true.
"If we don't attack them, they will attack us first. So we'd better retaliate before they have a chance to strike"
at least they have confirmed a player based economy. so it sounds like they may move away from the linear economy systems seen in most recent MMO's that are more NPC driven.
they also mention it may be for the 360 on the last page
The game may be being developed for 360, but “we’re only talking about PC today”. Best of all, the immortal “we’re not talking about anything to do with space today”.

Yeah, I'd rather they focused on 4/5, especially if they want to do in-class variations.

Very good find, that's quite interesting. It brings up alot of questions about what they intend to do with the game. This also has me worried that they simply plan to make players distinct upon name over uniqueness. Hell, we might still have a chance; perhaps there are subclasses within the classes, that is, if they go the WoW route and decide upon uses talent trees like so many new MMOs seem to be doing (not that it isn't a good idea after all if implemented right).
My main concern though is how limiting these classes will be.

Best not get hopes up. Really. Read my topic about it. Don't waste 2 years hoping, only to come to the realization, that you were right in the very beginning.
Even Wizards nerfed DnD 3.5 with 4th ed. 4th ed is a joke in comparison, and this is the last bastion of complex character development we are talking about here, and you have hopes for an MMO aimed at prebu teens?
4th edition blows just as much as 3.5 and 3.0. it's all non-sensical horseshit for children, i don't know how it ever got swallowed by the old timers. too bad no one plays 2.0 anymore.
and who cares if this game will be on console, FF11 is on console and that game doesn't get crapped on for having too many kids. and is there anything wrong with consoles? i still play battletoads on my snes, whats wrong with you guys.
as far as this game goes, it's an mmo. go in with low expectations, and you can't say shit till it comes out
"Unfortunately, the most interesting aspects of the game are the ones least is known about. Confirmed are realm vs realm, player vs player, raiding and space travel." oooooh really!
Agreed! Nice to see these elements are bbeing planned!

Uh...Our group still play 2.0...aka, Advanced Dungeons & Dragons. Course, between the 5 of us we have just about every printed book made for AD&D. What we don't have in book form is in pdf form.

I will say it as vividly and passionately as I feel about it: I totally HATE the clone wars style. I purposefully used the word "hate" in connection to "clone wars movie". Being a Star Wars fan for as long as Star Wars exists, it deeply saddens me to see this deformed, flat, soulless style now come into the next Star Wars MMO. Its something I deeply regret to hear, and if SWTOR in the end really visually looks more or less like the Clone Wars movie, I am definitely going to skip it. Star Wars or not. I enjoy content and gameplay as any other bloke, but if that is true, its going to be more a kid game than is good for it. Personally I feel that would also be a great mistake and a hindrance for the success of SWTOR, but of course thats just my feeling.

Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!

(about the game appearance) Oh come on, you didn't know this game would look as much like the new movie and following cartoons as they could? George Lucas sold out and he's HUGE into product tie-ins. Of course he would make the mmo and any other game look like the cartoon, which looks like the stuff you buy in the store.
As for the 8 classes, I'd say I'm disappointed, but I knew the game would be simple since George Lucas is into marketting for kids now. I'm expecting CoH simplicity with more action-oriented combat. Sooooooooo Tabula Rasa. Shit, did I just say that myself? Ok, I'm disappointed now.
Or maybe they took a leaf out of WOW's book and picked a style that would run on a lot of computers and not require the latest and greatest - aka Vanguard, AOC etc.
So performance shouldnt become an issue with a lot of people in a small area - like a city or a fight.

bleh. my 6 year old nephew's saturday morning cartoon has better graphics.
I was hoping for more classes, but seeing how they plan to make specific story arcs for each class I can certainly see the issue with having too many. Though if anything, it should be quite interesting if they add new classes later on.
I agree with the part where he essentially states it as feeling more heroic when being outnumbered and fighting larger groups of enemies, and always disliked the concept of champion/elite "normal" opponents.

Interesting. Wonder if that was a slip or if it is actual information.
Good read though. And I have to agree, even though it is announced now, it still seems like a badly kept secret in many ways.
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
Final Fantasy 7

hmmm. 8 class's seems pretty vanilla and linear.

I'm going into this game expecting it to be a online KOTOR game and not a mmorpg.
