Anyone waiting around for BioWare to put out a good game these days is like the pathetic sods thinking Rare will somehow magically return to their glory days. BioWare would never of sold themselves to EA if they still had the means and desire to put out BG quality games.

WTF? Neverwinter nights was far better than BG. KOTOr didn't really fit me and neither mass effect but upcoming Dragon age looks sweet. Just look on DA:O homepages dang it...

I am not happy that they make a SW game as their first MMO either, I want a forgotten realm one but Bioware still knows how to make a good game. I can hardly wait for DA

Combine and you get what? Hopefully, something really really fantastic. Now shush about "how you don't like it" or something equally ignorant

I do see your point it is like saying "Cake is awesome....and Ice cream is awesome I can just combind the two and i have even more awesomeness" but it could be on the other hand to such as "Well sex is awesome, and hanging out with my guy friends is awesome" do you see the example there?

You...are completely nuts. I just had some pound cake and vanilla ice cream the other night and it was the epitomy of awesomeness!!

"Many nights, my friend... Many nights I've put a blade to your throat while you were sleeping. Glad I never killed you, Steve. You're alright..."

Maybe its because Bioware and Kotor can be credited with re-invigorating the Star Wars games I.P by showing it was possible to make a Star Wars game that didnt suck.

D&D Online MMO didnt that already flop?

I would like to see them release a Jade Empire MMO - I thought that was a great game.

But Star Wars - love the I.P so I am looking forward to the game.

The desire has always been there, but without the means, you can't do much. While the general consensus is that we don't like the BW and EA deal, it only makes sense to side with the guys who have the means and resources, right? To me it does anyway.

And I thought BioWare had kinda moved away from the D&D/FR universe? I may be mistaken, but from what I remember that's why Obsidian picked up NWN2.

Either way, if it's BW, then it's more than likely going to be good. We can only wait and see. Me? I'm already sold. It's BW meets Star Wars for Christs' sake!

Edit: Nevermind, I just came across a website with this morsel:

"Wizards of the Coast has not allowed any other companies to renew their D&D licenses. Dragon Magazine and Dungeon Magazine have been called back to Wizards of the Coast from Paizo publishing, and the Dragonlance license has been pulled from Margaret Weiss Productions. Yet Wizards is still allowing Bioware to maintain their license."

    My mistake!

the thing that made kotor and mass effect 'mediocre' to 'crap' was difficulty, details, and too early of a release date. remember when kotor 2 came out? as for mass effect, none of its bugs are game breaking. and all three are quality games, i fail to see how you can not see that. it's just one of the biggest problems with them is that they're just too easy. far too easy, stemming mainly from their streamlined AD&D nature. but then again, many from the AD&D table-top realm thought the BG games were too streamlined...

personally i enjoyed the kotor games and mass effect, but i understand not liking them and i think they went too far with streamlining, all in order to appeal to the casual gamer. they'll probably do the same with this mmo, but we'll see. either way, i think i'll enjoy it, even if it won't be like BG2

Why? Is that a serious question? You are talking about EA and Lucasarts. The answer is simple: da money!

The game is targeted at prebup teens, and don't even try to deny it. It will be piss easy, like all BioWare games as of late.

Mass Effect? That is a joke at best for an RPG. It's a weak shooter, with some discussion elements. Some, because you very rarely make choices, and the discussion wheel is a joke: good answer, bad answer, neutral ... very many times all answers are the same.

Remember the BioWare rep, who talked about what they learned from WoW? That's right, the illusion of choice. That was present to the extreme in Mass Effect. Story was childish, characters one dimensional, sure voice acting was good as well as the score. Combat was down to a very simple formula, same with itemization, with the spectre gear being head and shoulders above anything else, just like colossus armor and savant omni-tool and bio-amp.

Mass Effect is what gamers today want.

TOR will also be cookie cutter and easy, because it's what people want. You want something complex? Look elsewhere.

  • KickphatKickphat Member Posts: 189

what with all this talk about wanting super complex and challenging games. Life its self it complex and challenging why would you want that in your games. Most people play games to get away from there life not to live another one in a game. This is why games that are simple and easy to get into are going to sell well and game makers see this.  With games costing millions of dollars to make companies are going to make games that can sell millions of copies not ones only alittle of a faction of the world will play.

I wonder about that, i am pretty sure Fallout 3 shipped around 6-7 million copies until now. Mass Effect had some impressive sells as well, the list could go on but i think you get the deal. Dragon Age Origins looks like it will sell well.

Drawing stupid examples like that won't do much really. Fact: BioWare makes awesome games. Pretty much general opinion: Star Wars owns.

That a good company makes a game in a universe they are well familiar with in the past is more likely to become a success than your stupid compareance with cake and ice cream ever will be

LMAO!!!! If nobody else gives you your props I will...that was funny, but I think ppl misunderstood. He's saying Bioware+Star wars = cake+ice cream (a great combination) or (let me stress the "OR") it could be Bioware+Star wars = sex+your guy friends(assuming you are a guy, that's NOT a great combination...unless you swing that way). Understand now? You like sex, and you like hanging out with your guy friends, but if you combined the two, you may not like it LOL.

You know your right! We certainly don't have enough hack and slash fantasy mmos on the market more dungeons more dragons, elves and dwarves that is certainly wht we need more of

but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....

    Who cares?

As long as it's better than Dark and Light, Dungeons & Dragons Online, Lord of the Rings Online, Vanguard, Tabula Rasa, Pirates of the Burning Sea, Age of Conan and Warhammer Online.

Did I forget any of the crash and burners?

TR did not crash and burn, its still a very active played mmo and NOT fantasy.

Devs need to step out of the box and stop making the typical "lets play an elf hehehehe" mmo aka fantasy games, Fallen Earth is going to rule the mmo base when the game comes out. Watch out for it guys

please tell me you posted this before the cancellation. I think out of all those games mentioned  this is the only one with a known sunset date.

but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....

  • icyredicyred Member Posts: 138

You have too remember that everyone likes diference... some ppl liked TR and some didnt and i was one that didnt but he didnt like Warhammer online but i think it wasnt a crash and burn and even this site shows it has a High volume of activity and the game has lots of ppl in it. so it couldnt be as bad as he says if it is doing great lol... unless he's going by WoW standards but that would mean he's a 12 year old boy with no life lol.
