I hope you guys realise your pinging a server in frankfurt and not the actual data server Darkfall will be located on. The routing will vary, sometimes drastically for some. It all depends on the nodes located around the data center and your routing table to the server and nodes. My ping was 132 on a 10mbit charter connection. I suspect it will be higher if I do decide to play on there servers. Most likely around 200ish which is normal for a Euro based server. Lowest q3 server ping for Euro is 132 Lowest warsow ping for Euro is 198 Lowest cs ping for Euro is 149 Lowest ping for Euro in WoW is 210 Just a heads up!
This has nothing to do with the game and everything to do about bragging rights. I couldn't pass up a chance to show up Houston and Dallas. Hell, I'm not even interested in Darkfall.
153 ping from Muncie Indiana, not to bad I guess. Running U-verse Pro Package.

Ohh wow thats there ONLY international server. GNi has a lot more Amercian based data centers. Yet Euro Launch is first...strange...seems like GNi can very easily make a NA based server. Easier then a Euro on anyway Maybe this is good news for a quick launch of a NA server.
Aye the only problem for you guys is the lack of a NA publisher, that's why there is no NA launch planned yet.
But once they find it, it s gonna be very easy to set up the servers.
im in new york city i pulled an 88 ms ping pretty damn decent. then i again i got roadrunner cable we got fiber optic infrastructure in our neighborhood so ive been known to pull an easy 2mb a sec downloads
3.4ghz Phenom II X4 965, 8GB PC12800 DDR3 GSKILL, EVGA 560GTX 2GB OC, 640GB HD SATA II, BFG 1000WATT PSU. MSI NF980-G65 TRI-SLI MOBO.
If we amuse ourselves and consider this thread an international spontaneous ping survey of sort's, it Looks like the US will be pretty lagged out compared to Europe and Australasia, I wonder how that will impact on the game?*
* I'm not willing to say/ask anything more, due to the High inflame ability of this game and all post's and conversation's that happen around it.

Euros are going to WTF!!?? Pwn Joo!
Less caffeine and more Prozac for you my little friend!
Depends more on the number of switches it goes through than the distance. I've had IPs in my state that were slower than across the nation because they were buried behind dozens of servers. The internet isn't just a big wire from your house directly to whoever you want to communicate with.
Only true for the 'edge' networks. But on backbone links they use optical repeaters which is why the transatlantic link is so quick. The limitig factor is the speed of light and distance. However with sattelite distance is the absolute problem again because of basic physical restraints of sending a signal so far. About the best you will get in absolute ideal conditions is an aditional 600ms latency from the lowest orbits. In reality it will probably add a second or two.
Doesn't matter whether its is 30% slower it is still the limiting factor unless you have a poor local connection. he guy in Swedens (on 100mb fibre) results illustrates this. (A DSL tail will add whtat 20ms I would guess?) The speed of light in a wave guide is still the limiting factor.
Indeed they use erbium doped fiber amplifiers, my bad, the point is thses don't introduce any significant delay.
Geo syncronous sattelites are around 40,000k above the equator which equates to an extra 275 ms. thats before you add transit delays to the base station and in this case you will need to go from light to electrical to radiowaves.
Long story short isatellite does have higher latency Nice to talk with someone that dosen't talk complete bollox I have to say. Remarkable times we live in, who wpuld have thought it when a 300baud modem was da bizz.

I got 161 to Frankfurt. I guess that's good enough to play, I don't know.

Arf, Norway 65 ping
still try europe servers i want to see how well there prediction system works
How can it be ? Some lone islands somewhere lost in the middle of pacific and such a compared good ping
I was as surprised as you are!
Maybe it's bounced off a satalite instead of undersea cable.
Yeah sending the signal 20 times further would make it quicker
Arf, Norway 65 ping
37 ms from Oslo, Norway

And when we got more women on the team, it was like No, no, no. We need puppies and horses in there.
