Gonna nail my flag to the mast on this one...
...and say that I am really looking foward to DF, and that I am now, after maintaining a neutrality on it for a long time to see how things play out, an official fan and outright supporter of not only what it represents for the genre, but the game and it's reality as well.
Call me a 'fanboy' now if you want, I don't care. The insult means nothing to me.
I also don't care about the percieved 'insults' that the hateboys keep banging on about, I don't feel lied to at all, and I don't care about how long it has taken to arrive. I also don't care if the Devs are 'nice guys' or not. This has nothing to do with finished product or a good game. I want to play DF, not have a beer with Tasos....
...and to be honest, if I was trying to build something as challenging as a quality mmorpg on an Indie's staff base and budget WHILE having to put up with the hormonal whinging of mouthy teenagers just looking to push my buttons, I would be less then happy talking to the public as well. I would just want to get on with my work in silence and prove them all so wrong.
I have read everything that you hateboys have to say, and to me it just gets weaker and weaker, while the pro DF guys are getting stronger and stronger as they are proven more and more right by the building body of evidence.
The fact is that it just looks, from beta previews and SS, to be a solid and great game.
Been doing some research recently, and I have to say that if a pre-order was offered now that I would take it. And no, I don't pre-order mmorpgs usually for obvious reasons, but I have a growing faith in this one. Say what you like about this, it's just the truth. For the first time, I am starting to really believe in DF, and have hope for the genre.
I like a lot of what I am seeing out there, and am loving all the little details in the mix... like the backpack that opens up as a jumbled pile of loot that your have to click and drag to rummage through, while looking over your shoulder 'cause you know someone wants to do the same thing to you.... Great 
Also loving the graphics. Just the right mix of realism and cartoon for my personal tastes, while keeping the specs low enough for PvP. The environments look stunning to me, and even the character models look a LOT better the other recent games (LoTR and WAR for instance).
I am no Dirty Harry, but I started playing MMOs seriously on a team PvP EQ server and I miss the extra zest that environment brings to a MMORPG... DF looks like it will have that. I can't wait for the politics and power brokering that will come out of it.
All I can say is hurry up the 22nd of Jan, and hope to see you guys here (who are actually interested in the game rather then picking petty fights on forums) in game.

oh, btw, just also want to say a big thank you to all you long term fans out there that have kept your hopes alive through the sleet of sewerage that has been thrown at you down the years. I have come in late, but without you guys as a fanbase this may have stalled way before now. This is your time of victory, as the Hateboys gig ever deeper for ever more desperate and transparent ways to provoke you all, so enjoy it

There is not 1 single thing that has been released about this game over the course of the last month that proves they have anything that they have been talking about all these years.

What concerns me most about this game is that we have yet to have the beta reviewed by a respected, independent organization. The "beta previews" you referred to were not conducted by independent sources and are, essentially, Aventurine marketing material.
I will feel a lot better about this game if they would allow MMORPG.COM or some other respected site to review the game and interact with the "hundreds" of individuals that are supposely in beta right now.

Did I miss something? Did DF release while I wasn't looking for a couple of hours and we already know how amazing it is?
Oh wait....aieeeee, I am a Troll! *waves flag around* here here, hit me hit me, I am not ready to cheer for a complete and utter victory of Tasos and co. before the game actually releases, considering we have less than 7 weeks and the game is still under tight NDA.
It's nice you guys are celebrating the set release date. How come you#re also already talking as though the game launched fluid and without problems and with all features in the game, plus with the Free Trial that was promised?

no but if you want a hands on preview of the game your have to go there. mmorpg.com isnt getting review with out going there) of the game because there not going to get a beta account. so why do they need the client? they dont they have go there to get the live interview. i mean its pretty simple to understand. has anyone on the mmorpg.com admin team even followed df? i dont think so
After several years of development and countless threads about DF, the truth is we still have very little solid information about the game -- and none of it comes from a reputable third party source IMO. I'm not saying the game isn't all they claim it is, but I am saying I won't be surprised if it's not. Saying this game is the next great thing or the next failure seems premature to me. However, one would expect to see much more mainstream media coverage with release barely over a month away. Let's see what January brings and hope for the best.

I understand your point here Death, and it's valid, but take a look at TCoS....
It came from an indie dev, launched with no fuss, no hype to speak of from mainstream media, and relitively little information out there about the game itself for the casual reader, yet it seems to be doing ok. Time will tell of course, but it's EU lauch seems to have gone well and been pretty stable.
Look at Savage 2, or even EvE util recently as well. No mainstream hype to speak of, but both making money by being the game THEY wanna be. Just goes to show.

Treating Darkfall like LOTRO doesn't make a lot of sense. They're a first time developer. They don't have a large budget fronted to them by a big game publisher. They're doing things the way they think is best. AoC and War followed the tried and true formula you prescribed, and that helped initial sales, but the games weren't very good. This is a company that has steadfastly repeated for years that they were going to do things there own way, and have continued to do so.
It's certainly in your right to think that because they don't emulate the PR roll-out process that Funcom or EA used, that there's something wrong with the game. But it's not set in stone correct logic, either. The state of the game and how they seek to publicize it are two totally independent elements.
What I think they want to do - and this is what they should do - is not to have a grand kickoff day with 300,000 users trying to get in. There's been 1 company who's done that succesfully, and they did it with their 4th title. They should try to gradually ramp up as they go live. Maybe 20,000 users, and then add 10,000 users weekly as they are sure they're prepared for it. I am not sure how many game servers they intend to launch with, but they shouldn't try to fill them all in the first week. That's a recipe for disaster as has been provin seemingly countless times over the last 10 years.
You would think would realise that 3rd party previews are meaningless, look at the previews that aoc and war got. Really if you trust information from these websites you have a lot to learn and are far less savvy than you think you are. The only way to asess a game is by playing it.
Everyone's entitled to their opinion, It's just the overall way most of you sceptics express yourself - with the words in ALL CAPS for emphasis, terms of endearment, emo dots and overall tone like Rorschach in the Watchmen trailer but without the kick ass mask and being a ruthless vigilante. Even most fanbois aren't that emotional when talking about Darkfall.

Fair enough, valid post. I don't agree with all your responses, but I don't really want to get that deep into a personal slanging match tbh. People will read what I wrote, read what you wrote, and make up their own minds I guess.
I am not interested in creating trolls, only supporting a game that I want to see succeed.
