Free 2 play or Pay 2 play?
No subscription model has been anounced for this game which is strange considering they already announced the solid release date to happen in less than 2 months but didn't include any pricing structures.
Personally I think if this game does anything other than a Free 2 Play it's going to fall flat on it's face within the first 2 months.
Just look at Arch Lord. I've seen absolutely nothing over the years from this in any of its videos or screenshots that would make it seem better than games like Arch Lord and many other Free 2 Play games.
So what will make this one survive as P2P when so many others that actually look better can't?

Theyre banking that enough people want a sandbox ffa full loot pvp game that theyll get good subscription numbers.
I don't know if your topic is incendiary enough to get a 25+ pager like Dracaan. We will see though.

This is based on everything that has been publically shown.
There's simply nothing that they've ever shown to the public that makes this game look like anything more than a big game of mindless grab ass.

I don't see how tens of thousands of people are going to want to pay to play grab ass.
I've never played a free game that had anything more than terrible graphics and five npc models. There's enough free games for the peasants who can't afford $15 anyways.

Most likely pay to play and it will have to survive on the features it provides.
Combine that that an mmo should be quite profitable with a 100k subscription base and they have reason to see it work.
Cut off point for many games a few years ago was about 30k players and everything else above that was considered a success.
If this game actually gets 30k players and can actually keep those 30k for a full year it will be a success.
I just don't see that happening.
Archlol was just fail from beginning to end. It didn't pretend to be anything more than AAG (Another Asian Grindfest)
If this game delivers 3/4 of what it claims to, and does so in a fun, polished manner, then I will pay.

I still maintain that free mmo's are for asians and peasants. I'd rather pay the price of a console game or a pizza delivery for a month of entertainment.
The fact is that the above is simply your opinion. Many seem to have a differing opinion.
Seriously stop comparing sandbox games to ordinary run of the mill games: Reason being they are a different ball game!
Look at SWG and EVE both were/are (SWG died after the NGE) successful games, both are lacking gfx, however if you look at the game play and community - WOA! now thats where the hook was.
Darkfall is needed to fill a gap in the MMO market. In fact it goes further and fills the hardcore PVP Sandbox Niche, since EVE sadly dosn't attract new players due to the real time skill learning system, and SWG is effectively dead, so Darkfall = gapfillage in market = potential for sucess. Whereas games like aforemention Archlord offered nothing new, and the demand simply wasn't there as WoW had just taken off along with some other better done linear mmos like lineage 2 or Lotro etc etc.
I think what it comes down to, is you are either trolling, or simply just want a free game.
Just for clarity if you want a good game, with good updates, with a good community you have to go P2P for several hundred reasons. Name one F2P game that can offer this except Guild Wars which is technically a PlayBeforeyaPlay game.
F2P game = EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPic Fail - If Darkfall went this route I'd cry and crawl back into the hole I emerged from.
Just get a damn job and pay the £10 a month. (seriously entertainment dosn't get any cheaper, with £10 you could buy 3.45 pints of lager (yea a pint costs £2.90 here in merry old Oxford) or an entire months worth of pure awesome pvpfesting).

Btw what the hell is 'Grab Ass'? (Sorry am from the UK) Is that slang for 'its gonna suck', but with homosexual implications? Or is there someone ass this is in reference to that has eluded me?
Btw I don't really get it if its meant to be a negative statement...I quite like grabbing female asses - well only in the dead of night when they can't see me ----> also allows a quick escape back to my hole.

Friendly reminder: Don't single out and attack other users.
Even if it turns out that that person did have an IP match up with another account (hypothetically speaking), and even if that person's new account did have a throwaway e-mail (hypothetically speaking), and even if that person's ban date did line up perfectly with the creation of a new account (hypothetically speaking), that doesn't give you the right to single them out and attack them publicly. Bring it to the attention of the mods via report, and it'll be dealt with.
Keep it on topic guys.
the game will only need to keep around 300k players for 4 months to make up the cost to create (that and the box sales)

"Free" games arent really free, they all have subscriber shops.
It's far more popular in asian MMO games...
Funny thing is, the majority of "free" games require you to buy something from the shops to progress by high levels.... and the majority of hardcore players of free MMO's spend more money on those games, then they would if they played a P2P MMO.
Goes to show what people will do if u put phat lewtz in front of their face with a real money price tag on it
