The title pretty much explains it all. What do you like in MMO's? It could be something implemented in games already, or it could be an idea that has not been done before.
no more send letters and run from loaction A to B to C then back to A type of quests, none!
also less collective quest.
also when i fight a mob, and the mob will ask me why i want to kill him, if we can communicate, and then during the quest the mob tell me the truth, then i can decide : keep kill the mob or go back kill the NPC who give me that quest
also why we have to kill the mob? if we just wanna a necklace from a mob, we first thereat them, and if your char.'s fame is good enough, the mob will just hand it to you. if not we can just rob the necklace but not just kill them.
i just bored

Well I assumed he meant actually being able to talk to the npc's like real people. If it's just talking to them as in being able to pick one of 3 sentences from the dialogue and going from there... Then yeah that's definitley possible.

I want less of the, 6 guys team up to kill one nme (unless its a boss) and more of one guy kills 5 at a time, or 6 guys go killing masses of 500 enemies.
after 6 or so years, I had to change it a little...
hmm, you should play Diablo II then, it might not have the 6 vs 500 thing, but u sure do kill ALOT of monsters... thats one of the reasons why I liked that game so much, cause you get to kill so much stuff in a run.
I am so sick of games that incorporate guns and proceed to make melee weapons more effective. I want a traditional MMO that is focused on the use of ranged weaponry. The melee guy should be the exception and he should have a hard life and be super clever to survive that way.
This is what sci fi games like AO and SWG started out with. Then progressively nerfed the guns or underpowered them to begin with. Thus making Melee the best most effective class.
I would just once like to see a MMORPG (that is not a FPS) get guns right.

Right before I saw that, I was going to suggest that you look at Fallen Earth, since guns will be done correctly it seems, but its going to be an FPS/RPG hybrid. I would say that the company that is making Fallen Earth is heading in the right direction. They are trying to please most types of gamers by giving them all types of things to do. They are also getting voice actors for all or atleast most NPCs, and will be having tons and tons of different lines for all the NPCs so that everytime you try to talk to members of a certain group they all don't just say the same lines over and over while not talking to you.
I would like it to feel like I'm acctually in the world, like I can acctually affect it and interact with it and those in it. I want to be able to destroy cities, build fortresses, attack anyone, etc.
The more MMOs that come out, the closer to this we come.

1) Customization: Not just looks but also skills/stats modifiers, down to even picking weaknesses[balanced against perks.
2) Skill-based system: No -bleeping- levels what-so-ever, if you smith or whatever all day you are going to be uber in smith but suck at combat!
3) FPS styled combat system: you click or react to a cue and get an action. I would like to see a combo system for melee to even ranged weapons[ancient and modern].
4) Meaningful playing fields: Meaning no more copied landscapes that just add space to your already crappy playing field. Add some colour, unique style to each place. Give a History to each place.
5) Worthwhile storyline that doesn't end or start with a mere singular point: In some ways EVE-Online got this down, and a few others but I think the newer MMO's fumbled on this point especially!
6) All above BEFORE GFX: Graphics are great and cool but no good physics/game/combat system you can forget all the uber gfx in the world, that's what you get when you play Lineage 2.
That's about all I can think up right now. I think they're not unreasonable, just obvious flaws in the existing games today.

We are working on exactly that actually. Having all the players in the game be open to the changes and outcome of the game. This could be discovering secrets to uncover the storyline together, solving riddles, partaking in unexpected attacks from NPC's, ect.
One of the goals in our game will be to create random events the players can experience without even being aware, to make the game feel like a living, breathing world.

What I really want to see in a MMOG is the old round based combat system replaced by a dynamic arcade style combat system tho still using character statistics.
Also, I absolutely want to see a platform style MMOG. In all the games out there all you need to do to reach the most dangerous part of the world is be high level and run (optionally you'd also need a key), but what I'm saying is I'd like to see a game that actually makes a use of the jump key and not just puts it there for decoration. Make the player work hard to get through dangerous zones, jump from ledge to ledge, crawl in small tunnels, hang onto ledges and that sort of stuff.
But then again, I'm probably just dreaming and that won't happen anytime soon.

Yep, we are doing this as well. We're making an arcade style fighting system using the num pad keys. Should be pretty interesting .

I want to do away with the LEVEL System. I think that we should be able to customize our characters by mixing skills and slowly powering up each skill giving a little more realism to the Roleplaying Game. Along with that, I would like to see a game that adheres to both semi-solo gameplay and group gameplay (basically don't give the group a bonus in experience, just because they are in a group).
Oh! Almost forgot, I WANT A BETTER CRAFTING SYSTEM. I want to be able to be an armorsmith/weaponsmith and be able to be just that. If it fits at very high levels I would like the craftspeople to be able to create special magical weapons and armor.
I want the game to be a society. I want there to be conflict between guilds, nations, and individuals. Skill based is a must. The reason we roleplay online is for the interaction with other people. Make that an integral part of the game. Taverns or whatever. We need to have a political system that we the PCs influence. Give us adventure. 3 against 1000 may not sound feasible but it sure sounds like fun. Also do not promise things you do not deliver on the day the game goes gold. Yes improve the game throughout its life span but do not promise things that are simply a glimmer in some developer's eye. I want truth in advertising. I want to spend my time with RPGers who are enjoying the game as it is.

1) No predefined classes. I'd rather see skill trees and levels. Having to play a certain class tells you as a player what you can do ingame. I'd rather be able to pick and choose my skills/talents/abilities as I go. This would allow me to make a character that I want.
2) Player and guild ownable land and benifits. This would allow a player to setup his/her own area ingame to build various structures on. The player could then maybe demand tithes from adventurers whenever monetary loot was taken from mobs within land that he/she owns.
Guild owned land would likely be on a much larger scale and seeing as usually guild have larger coffers to work from vs the single player there will be bigger/better structures to be built etc(not to say that ingame Donald Trumps wont arise...if you have the cash onhand you can do what you will. But your average player wont be able to afford the upper tier structures that a guild can). Each structure in and of itself whether owned by a single player or a guild would give certain benifits depending on the complexity (cost) of it and it's type. If you build some form of a military building then you would get a bonus to the tithes from mobs killed in the area due to more guard patrols but conversley you would have less mobs to kill.
3) A real storyline. I want each world to be dynamic. I want GM events galore. If Server A does not have a guild that can defeat the Witches of Oggie then that entire server is unable to access the area(s) that they guard.
4) Gm's that actually care to respond. I don't want to have "roving" server GM's that will get back to you within the next 2 weeks. I want a reply within 30 min. Even if it's just to say "Hello, sorry about the delay but we are swamped right now. I'll get back to you within the next (insert time here). Also the "crisis" GM staff. Whats the point of petitioning someone training you repeatedly when you know that no GM will ever look into it within the next few min?
5) Game Balanced for 1 aspect only. Meaning that it's either fully GvG/PvP/PvE etc and not a mix. You can still make a "good" game with a mix but then you would end up with balance issues on one side or the other. Not to mention the min/max players who are gods in one or the other form. Pick one type of game type and stick with it and balance for that only.
6) Reputation system with repercussions. If as an example PlayerA has a habit of scamming then they can be marked by the GM's as such and their name would show as a certain color. It would also be account wide vs targetting only the toon. I'm not talking about the scam's that folks run ingame saying ItemA is uber buy now for 500 Shiny Coins when the item is only worth 10. But rather the "bait and switch" type of scammers that use ingame mechanics to their advantage. If a GM can confirm they used the game mechanics to benifit themselves or their group/guild in a way that it wasn't meant then they are tagged as such. Penalties would be permanent on the entire account(Less the name color changing which would return to normal after a pre determined amount of time or a penalty worked off). Maybe merchants dislike them now and jack up prices 5% or their earned experience is lowered by a small percent per kill. Multiple infractions of this type would result in account banning or a myriad of ingame extreme penalties.
7) Exploiters banned...depending on the severity and the number of occurances. If PlayerA is found to have a 3rd party "hack" program running then say buh bye. If PlayerA is able to stand in a certain spot in a certain area and kill mobs without any harm to his/herself then they get a warning. The 2nd same offense would result in a ban.
8) Constant upgrading. I want new patches, content, fixes on a regualr basis. If it takes ages months to add another skill tree or 3 years to fix pathing in a certain spot ingame then I'm off to find some other way to spend my cash. I myself would rather see a pathing exploit fixed then to see a server taken down so that they can patch in new shield graphics.
9) Communication between players and Devs. I want the devs to listen to the community. If over the course of 2-3 months you see a pattern develop that say for example the skill tree of "Holy Protection" is nowhere what it has been described as then the devs can take a long look and adjust if they feel it's warranted. And if they feel it's fine to not post "It's fine" but rather go into detail as to why it is being left as is even though many ingame feel it needs tweaking.
Again this is MY own opinion of what a good game would be(give or take some ). Some may like my ideas and some may not. Everyone has their own version of a perfect MMO should be.
