The good folks over at GamerGod.com have posted an exclusive interview with Jon Shellenberger, the project lead at Sentinel Studios about their upcoming MMORPG "Centia Online." Here is some of what was said:
| GamerGod: For our readers that have not yet heard of Centia Online, can you tell us a bit about yourself and what sort of game you envision it being when it is finished? Jon: My name is Jon Shellenberger. I am the project leader for the game and I will also be doing level design and some modeling. I started this project after I tried Anarchy Online and Neocron. Though I did like AO and Neocron, I was not thrilled with a lot of things they had to offer. Neocron's combat system was just not logical to me. The more I thought about it, I came to the question of "Should I make my own game?" I then searched the net for info on doing this sort of thing. After that I started doing a design document and also went on the Gamedev.net forums searching for some help. I was blasted with spam and hateful people who didn't know what they were talking about. Only a few people who replied were not against me, but did spell out the truth of what I was in for. After a few weeks, I got an email from a programmer and then another week another programmer, but that last one turned out to be our webmaster. That's where it all began. I envision this to include all parts of sci-fi MMORPGs you could ever want and include some areas of fantasy games. Exploring space and the planets and moons within and being able to fight a massive war across many systems |

If you read any of the details on the Centia Online races, you'll suddenly find yourself reading a script from the TV show Stargate SG-1.
What a rip off.
This actually sounds interesting... DO nto now how much they can back up what they say, but the theory behind it is great. Openended skill advancement.. Superior to any level system. A hassle to create but superior if implemented well.
I will follow this one with some interest. Sci Fi UO.
Only game I wait for right now: Imperator.

Accually when I read it, it didnt sound anything like stargate sg1, i think your just a waste of life flammer who likes saying crap to every mmorpg dev team or anyone starting any game for that matter... i hate flamers so you should go fall off a cliff for all i care and you will just get banned from forums, etc...

Teh Blind Man, you have either never seen an episode of Stargate SG-1, or you have some connection to Sentinel Studios which has you on this board flaming anyone who notices what is obvious.The statements on the game background show blatant copyright infringement of the movie Stargate and the two series, Stargate SG-! and Stargate Atlantis.

Stargate the movie was made from Von Dankien's 'Star Gods' concept. So, there really isnt anything wrong with the story here other then the fact that it is using the same concept. So maybe we should call up Von Dankien and say stargate stole his idea?
You idiot. Did Von Danniken mention cruel aliens that steal technolgy and enslave countless races across the galaxy? system lords? System lords named Anubis? a lost city named Atlantis where vast amounts of ancient technology was found?
All that stuff is straight out of Stargate episodes.

Wormhole Xtreme hahahaha. I wonder how many people really get that joke hehe. I found it awfully strange they took so many things sooo closely as well. Seems they changed a lot of it now though.

Yeah... I told them they needed to dump the whole Anurid alien race fast before half the entertainment lawyers in LA that the major studios have on retainer are filing cease and desist orders against them.

You are right. That is still SG1, no matter how they package it hehe.
I've been dying for someone to make a SG1 MMORPG, but these guys are going to get sued

If you think that way, send an email to the stargate sg1 team...
Tell them to sue the history channel for making documentaries on the stargate, wormholes, aliens and the such before you get them on us...

History's Mysteries Ancient Aliens it was part of that series I have it on tape. Man that theory has been around for a long time who ever made it or relatives of the guy should sue Stargate SG 1 team and the makers of the Stargate movie. Is that what you guys are saying?
