Need new shooter game or RT

blueninjajblueninjaj Member UncommonPosts: 16

kind of tired of playing games with little or no action. The thrill isfrom real timestrategy shooting such as GunZ or Rakion. Real time stuff is appealing, anyone know of some of them that you DONT have to buy or pay monlthy fees?

For RTS there's Dreamlords from AeriaGames (www.aeriagames.com) very fun game.

For shooting games you have tons of choices, S7 League, Soldier Front, Combat Arms, so on, so forth.

Also for a very pure RTS (DreamLords has a heavy mix of RPG in it with a hero which you equip with gear) try SAGA.

    played dreamlords it got boring

I am looking for a real time combat system with levels not just killing for the hell of it or fixed levels like rakion or gunz its fine and all but its restricting. I saw a few games that had some good ones but they are P2P and theothers were crappy unless u DO pay

If you read my post it said i was looking for FREE games not ones i gotta pay for

    For F2P your choices are:

    Allegiance

The Shattered Galaxy - Yes it does have a pay option that allows you to get other units, but you can still enjoy the game and be just as good as others, if you have the skill, if you don't pay.

Pox Nora - If you don't mind card games this is considered RTS.

    World of Battles

Savage: The Battle of Newerth - Commander = RTS & Warrior = FPS

Tremulous - Players can build up structures in game like a RTS and it has team based FPS stuff in it also.

For other F2P FPS MMOs visit The Best Free FPS - Shooter - MMOFPS list over at freemmogamer.com

P.S. Next time list all games you can think of that you have played so others don't waste their time suggesting and describing something you're already played.

Don't feel like listing almost every free mmo out there. I have played too many too count, I seldom remember them till someone says it. I suppose I will say these:

Flyff, Rakion, GunZ, Ragnarok, Last Chaos, Perfect World, Guild Wars, Eudemons Online, Rose Online, Hero Online, Dreamlords, Atlantica Online, BOTS, Corum Online, 2Moons, Anarchy Online

umm thats all I can think of off the top of my head

I'm glad you haven't played the ones I have listed which means I didn't waste my time.

I think you took the words RTS into extreme depth lol, Im not looking for something turn-based or units stuff. I want to fight other people or mobs in real time rather than click -wait to kill- click next one-repeat. I tried going back to GunZ but the game is extremely hard to master. Almost impossible without macros or hacks.

Watching a video and reading the wiki it just looks like a FPS type of game which I listed as the last link. It's even on the list for FPS MMOs.

  • blueninjajblueninjaj Member UncommonPosts: 16

from the looks of it i should just stay with rakion or gunz, on the otherhand do you know of any good mmo's? I have been trying to find a fantasy mmo to keep my interest but it's kinda hard to find one that offers good stuff.

  • nickelpatnickelpat Member Posts: 661

Depends what you consider 'good stuff'. Try Combat Arms, it's a popular FPS game that's actually pretty fun.

Probably not. There's the fact it's not out yet, and then the issue that the if the community is, as I have heard, like the Shadowbane community (or AC Darktide at that), it's nice all at.

I would actually recommend LOTRO, the community is extremely kind (I've had random players give me full sets of purple [the best] armor for my armor for free) and they hold events for each holiday. Right now the Yule Festival is going on with special quests, dances, rewards, races, and areas. It is a pay-to-play game, I know you said you'd prefer free-to-play games. It also has some awesome dungeons. The new Moria dungeon (you must buy the expansions to access it) is huge. I don't mean huge for a dungeon, a huge area in general.

The Sagas of Ryzom matches what you want pretty closely, I don't know about regular events but the employees are involved in the game. I see customer service representatives in-game quite a bit chatting with players. So I could only expect they have periodic events. There's tons to do, it's a game without classes too, so it doesn't get repetitive very quickly. I do not yet know if there are dungeons. The community for Ryzom is very nice too.

I would also recommend Tabula Rasa is it has great dungeons (layout and visual style) has a great community, quite a few events (every Friday night there's a boxing tournament, periodic Server vs. Server wars, when the time comes they hold in-game Olympic events). The devs are very involved. But as you may know, it closes all servers in February, I don't know if you'd want to sink time into it.

Overall, I think LOTRO suits you best, sometimes you have to spend a little bit of money for a great game. If you think $15 a month is expensive, just remember that Neverwinter Nights (first graphical MMORPG) cost $6 per hour. :)

    Thank You,

    - Eric

I like your help and all but what part of free dont u get man. There are so many free mmo's that compete with those p2p ones so why pay even 15 bucks a month for a game when a lot of free ones are of almost or better quality

Sorry about that, I forgot you said free in your first post. Ryzom is actually free. Tabula Rasa goes free Janruary 10th until it closes on Feb. 28th. Lord of the Rings Online is free if you get someone else to pay for it :P :D
