Alien Vs Predator
I wouldn't see this that much as an RPG with a level system but more like end game PvP, like farming honor in WoW at cap level. Only discarding the leveling up process. Predators would be gear based and Aliens skill based. I would so much like to see the Predator culture explored.
Underwold
Now the war of vampires-werewolves has been in most people's mind, even from the World of Darkness era. I would love to see this game offering possibilities to play your character both in modern age and the middle ages, not in a linear story fassion but more like an ability to change from one era to the other whenever you want.
Star Wars: Legacy
What I like most for an MMO in Dark Horse's vision of the Star Wars future is the Imperial Knights. Those who've read the comics know what I mean, it is a perfect setting for an MMO, with 3 factions, the Jedi, the SIth and the Imperial Knights who are basically the "gray jedi".
Highlander
I see this game more like instanced large areas where 2 people can enter. The rest of the world should be solo play. You start at modern age and the higher you rise in strength by winning duels, you can unlock older historic Eras. Each time you get beheaded you reroll another immortal who is a tiny little bit weaker to your dead one. Your stats and progress in essence remain with a minor penalty for each loss.
How do you like these ideas and what are your dream IPs?
Comments
NONE. IPs are too serious of bussiness to do anything out of house these days.
I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.
How easy is it for an MMO to attract a viable subscription pool if it isn't based on a well known IP?
I can think of Eve only.
AoC, Lotro, SWG, Matrix failed even with a solid IP. So starting from scratch is financial suicide IMO.
I thought Marvel Universe was a great idea and I was sad to see them pull out of the deal.
Dune would make a great MMO if it was done properly.
Grand Theft Auto would be interesting with rival factions and gangs you could do missions for.
I didn't like how Marvel Universe added new superheroes out of nowhere.
I would love to see Dune!!!
I picked Underworld since I love me some Vampires and Were-creatures. However, I did tear up at the thought of a Highlander mmo. Unfortanately I think the lore would be more dificult to impliment.

But thats exactly his point.
MMOs today are all about attracting the most subscribers. Its all business. What we want is innovation, something new and different, not the same old cookie cutter grinds, amirite?
I like some of the ideas you posted. Sound pretty cool, and some would be pretty innovative. But, like paulscott said, IPs are too serious business. If those games were to ever be made, we would not see those features. We would just see the same old shit, with different graphics.
All that being said, I would love to see AvP made into an MMO. But only if I could play as a marine.
Pokemon and or Digimon are the two IPs i would like to see.

WATERWORLD!!!11!!!
Well, Underworld would work well but CCP/White wolf are working on their "World of darkness online" and underworld is kinda a copy of that, so the original will probably be better.
Highlander could be intresting.
Alien could maybe work but A vs P would not, mabe as a massive FPS but not as a MMORPG.
And while SW: Legacy surely could work I think that we will get most of that SW action in TOR.
The IPs I expect to pop up soon are Wheel of time and Narnia.
Dune
Battlestar Galactica
Wheel of Time
Fred Saberhagen's Berserker

I accept that. On the other hand I believe an MMO is nothing without subscribers. And quality alone never survived anywhere. So IPs are a necesary evil when WoW holds the market by the balls.
And you'd play a marine?! OMG
You are one of those people who are responsible Bounty Hunters will be able to solo Jedi in TOR!!!
Mass Effect. I think they made an amazing universe and story for an MMORPG or MMO in general.
WHAT!! World of Darkness on line?!
I haven't heard of that! I did a quick google and didn't come up with anything.
Oh I hope it is based on the old Masquerade concept but I doubt it...
nobody said this one yet:

I would spam: "I don't like you..."
Original Gothic concept would be cool i think.
Highlander would might be fun if it was set up right. I think instancing would kill it though.

BSG
Firefly
Mass Effect

Wheel Of Time
Yeah, it started a Year ago. White wolf and CCP merged (you know the icelandic guys with Eve). They are pretty closed mouth about anythyng yet but CCPs boss did mentioned a few things about the game in a interview last X-mas.
The rumour is that the GFX engine will be based on Eves avatar system but few things are really known about it. It should be about 1 year into work right now, there was a rumour about a 2010 release a while back.
I don't know however if the game will be based on the old or new WOD but the game is in development.
AvP is the worst sort of pulp that gives sci-fi a bad name, so I'm passing on that. Highlander is just a tad better, but I can't see how an MMO based on that would be interesting. Underworld is sort of a step up, but as said before, CCP's project would make it redundant.
Myself, I'd ask for a new MMO in a rich sci-fi universe. A bit like SWG, but somewhere other than the Star Wars universe. With less pew-pew than we're seeing in games now, and more exploration and diplomacy.
The Culture books by Iain M. Banks would make a very good setting:
* Interesting and varied species (and humans who can change their sex in a matter of months).
* Sentient droids and AIs who are the true brains behind the system.
* Drug glands that act as built-in biological boosts to your mind and body temporarily when activated.
* Amazing worlds such as man-made huge orbitals (they somewhat resemble ringworlds).
* The condition Banks calls "post-scarcity" which virtually eliminates the need for money - it'd be a breath of fresh air among the wildly capitalist futures we have grown used to.
* And the amazingly complicated game of Azad...
I'm willing to bet all these elements lend themselves very well to an open, freeform, SWG-like sandboxy MMO.
would be a great idea...but only for the money...because it would attract all types of weird kids only willing to destroy the world
but in the form it's a good idea
I dont wanna sounds blizzard fan but diablo as a MMO would be fun...I know a lot of people would rage about it....but you could have 2 factions (Hell/Heaven) and different races/classes

I would have died and gone to heaven if they made a Shadowrun MMO. It would be a perfect IP to develop. Too bad Microsoft has their blaphemous hands on it.
