A Druid would be the best solo class imo.

Without a doubt go for the hunter class, its almost made for solo play. You'll stil need a group for most 'group' labled quests but with anything else hunters the way to go.

    Feign death ftw!

    Ditto on druid......feral build

Stealth..bear..cat..easy mode at about the mid 20's when cat really kicks in

Hunter with a pet to take much of the aggro another  favorite for solo

Paladin may prove interesting if your so inclined

It's all personal pref i supose.. HUNTER..

I've tried most clases upto around level 20 and most can solo very effectivly although i've always fubar'd mages, can't play those if my life depended upon it.

Just try every class till about level 10, thats when most get their feel.

    Hunter is for suckers!

    j/k

I'll echo some of the support for Druids, but will toss in advice for warlock.  Not only do you get pets, but they're dam fun with all the options for PvP.

My druid's been dormant for a little while, but I really enjoyed raiding some of the large Horde cities.  My record in Orgimar is 20 minutes lol.

I personally like my hunter and pally for solo gaming. Pally is good cause you get metal armor and healing right away. Hunter is also good because of the pet but ammo takes up a seperate bag slot.

if u gonna solo and want to train to 50 fast hunter is the way to go. druids are good soloers too but hunters kill much faster making it easier exp therefore faster leveling.......

when i played i used the pally but i think its all up to your own personal taste. you could level with any character it just depends on how long your willing to wait to level it up

Don't roll a hunter.  You will hate yourself later down the road.

ive been playing the trial for the last 2 days, i expected ugly graphics but its nicely polished, tho i dont set high standards as i play ao too. game seems alright so far (lvl 4 now woot:P), i went in without checking what class would be best so i rolled a human warlock and started the questing, it gives u something to do. someone also offered me 50s to sign a guild charter but sadly trial accs cant sign it :P

Feral druid is a good way to go. A good mix of abilities which if you arn't 100% happy with might show you which class you might prefer.

Honnestly, don't even worry about soloing at all. Blizzard designed every class so it has the ability to solo. Even classes you usually would expect to have difficulties being able to solo such as priests can solo just fine in WoW.

I noticed you're playing a rogue, A rogue is quite a good solo class. Just stick with that one. Play the class you enjoy playing and don't worry about being able to solo because no matter what class you pick, you can always solo.

As many others have said hunter is a great solo class for levelling and pretty good for pvp too later on.

Don't write the rogue off though as even though he will struggle with multiple mobs he has the best single target dps in game and the best survability by far. You just need to level it a bit to get the key skills. PvP with a rogue whilst not the easy mode that many say is certainly very strong. But it's one of the easiest to level on a pvp server as you can pick your fights and if there's too many red names at a quest spot stay stealthed for 5 min till they move on (as opposed to doing a gy run).

Warlock is good too for levelling allowing you to breeze through and take group quests and elites near your level which other classes can't touch. They've been nerfed pretty heavily in pvp now so many other classes should be higher on your list if that's your priority.

Paladin is another strong solo and good pvp class although the play style isn't to everyones tastes.

When you get to 55 you might want to consider a Death Knight. They are very strong for both levelling and pvp.

The easiest beginner solo class right now is a protection warrior. You can take on 3 or 4 monsters at a time with ease. Get a nice shield and 1 hander and you'll pretty much kill nonstop. Druid is also a good choice but can't handle the same amount of targets at one time as a warrior, even with bear form.

You CAN handle the truth...it's just really slippery.

Hunters were built to be a solo class, that is litterally their purpose. But I've leveled pallies and they're fast (go ret until you can do dungeons then switch holy).  However I've heard shammies have zero downtime, haevn't played one though. But yeah Hunter is the best way to go imo.

Don't think about what is easiest to solo - think about what is going to be the most fun to play and will suit your play style. As an above poster said: all classes are balanced so that they can hold their own equally in solo play. It's just some require a little more work to do so.

It's obviously a personal preference thing, but I found the druid class very painful to level.  If I could only have one toon, I'd probably go with a mage.   Don't underestimate how nice it is to be able to port all around the world while others are stuck flying (and how much time it saves).  Also, a demon spec'd warlock is probably even faster to level than a hunter once you get the felguard.  I'll conceed that a hunter is fun to solo, but it will likely limit your end game experience.   It's one of the classes that very few people play well.  And, unfortunately, a poorly played hunter can cause huge problems in instances.  As a result, I'll almost never invite one on a PUG (I'll only run with in-guild hunters that I know).  Just my 2 cents.

I have one character of EACH class, all over 70, with my druid being 79, my lock 76, and my hunter 71, so I am definitely qualified to answer your question, OP.   All the other classes I have are only 70, because these 3 are, like we're talking about, the easiest and fastest to level, actually solo or otherwise.

What people have said about ALL classes being able to solo is true.  However, if you want to level FAST by taking on multiple mobs and not DYING (which wastes time if you're about leveling), then the 3 below are THE way to go.  Why kill one mob at a time when you can take on 3 or 5, even?

Of the 3 below, the druid is the toughest to START with.  You will not probably LOVE the class until after level 20.  However, if you stick with it, you will certainly NOT regret the choice.   You're a tank, dps, and healer all rolled in to one.

And I disagree, respectfully, with the person that said rogues have the best survivability.  Oh sure, hunters have feign and rogues have vanish, BUT....there are cooldown times involved here, and rogues, until high levels, are NOT all that good with multiple targets, in the way of getting adds, that is.

I also have to differ on the prot warrior suggestion.  Oh sure...I didn't die much on my prot warrior, but it took what felt like a thousand years to kill things.  Yeah, sure...nothing kills you....but you take forever killing things.  I hear this has improved some (the mage and warrior were my first classes, so they're four years old now, and I haven't leveled a warrior RECENTLY, but I can't imagine that being a good way to level unless you're very very patient).

In the following order for ease and speed of leveling:

Feral Druid (although it doesn't really pick up until around level 20, you'll really be glad you hung in there with this class....most fun I've had of ALL the classes, and very very very easy to solo even taking on multiple mobs, but more so after lvl 20 than before.  At 77, I could easily take on multiple mobs that are several levels higher than myself without panic.  LOL)

Warlock (I leveled mine as affliction, but demonology is also good...both for soloing.  Although, at HIGH levels demonology is better than affliction for solo.  Destruction spec is fun too, but I didn't respec to that until I was almost 70, so I can't speak on soloing or leveling from low levels with that spec before that.)

BM Hunter (Great for soloing, but in my opinion, this class is very very boring.)

Deathknight (Mine is frost/blood. After you have a level 55, you can make one of these, and they solo very well.)

Frost Mage (Mine is fire.  I have played this with all the talent trees though, and frost is def best, imo.)

    In no particular ORDER:

    Warrior (Mine is prot.)

Rogue (Mine is subtlety, crazy fun in PvP)

Shadow Priest (leveled so far shadow, will respec to healing at 80)

Paladin (Mine is prot. I list this LAST, because for ME...it was the most boring of all the classes.  But opinions vary GREATLY on that.  LOL)

Shaman (Listed last for ME, because I had such a TERRIBLE time deciding what talent tree.  Ended up elemental.  Still besides pallies, my least favorite.)

    I'd go with Druid.

Personally i love my priest, there is always need of a healer somewhere and until 70'ish u can be shadow spec and still heal just fine in instances, and there is almost always a group out there looking for a healer. As shadow spec u have zero down time if u just use your wand, i normally do a shield, smite, holy fire, shadow word: Pain and wand until swp runs out and if the mob isn't dead then another smite, and then i have spirit tap which brings my mana back to full easy :D and with a priest u can easy take 3 mobs at a time (psychic scream FTW :P).

I've also leveled a Shaman, shamans can like priests be elemental or enhancement spec and still heal just fine in instances untill 70'ish. I leveled my shaman before water shield and back then i had almost no down time (i leveled as enhancement) but i would expect with water shield u would have none at all :D.

I never got my paladin very far, but after level 35'ish you can AoE grind your way to level 80 in no time, and paladins can be tank and groups also need a tank :D. So with a paladin you get the option to be a healer or a tank and that is not a bad thing imo.

i can't comment on druids, but in end game druids are very usable in any spec.

But i'm a type of person that likes healing, and if that is not your thing then choose a lock, hunter or rogue for easy soloing.

If you spec correctly in enchancement you can literally go on indefinitely with no down time. The combination of Water Shield (with talents) and Shamanistic Rage can turn you into an unstoppable machine capable of mowing through mobs. Since changing from Resto to speed my levelling I'm loving it and I think my guild are starting to get worried that I won't want to go back once I hit 80.

Better question to ask is what classes aren't good for solo play until 50. Answer is:

Priests, Paladins and warriors. I think shamans might have mana issues but are easy to play. I never solo'ed on

Druids start off a little slower. Remember you dont get cat form until lvl 20 so 1-20 is much slower than other classes.

Mages start off pretty strong from the start. By lvl 6 you can conjure food and water so you never have to buy food or water. Unlike other classes like hunter, rogue and druid there are no massive, class defining abilities you have to reach a certain level to get (pets at lvl 10 for hunters and dual wield for rogues). Also you get portals to the major cities which DRASTICALLY lowers levelling time. Set your hearth to an inn, port to a capital city, get training/use Auction House or bank and then hearth back to the inn and you can be back out and questing in a couple of mins.

The 3.0 changes to ret to make them godlike isnt really noticeable sub 50. Firstly because the gear is horribly itemised for ret paladins sub lvl 60. Once you'll get to outlands you'll fly through the levels until you decide to go to northrend where you'll level to 80 in no time.

But basically the answer is mage
