Is this game worth it? ive not personaly played it and yet it looks entertaining to me, is it a fun game? And yea im more of a pvper than a pve guy.
No its bloody awful and incredibly boring. It suffers from extremely lazy game design and unfortunately no amount of patching will ever change this. You would be much better off saving your money and the disappointment which will surely follow. I quit halfway through my first month of play and couldnt muster the interest to play through the last two weeks of my subscription.
However if you are not interested in challenging or complex gameplay then you might be ok with WAR. When I first started playing this game I quite liked it but it rapidly became extremely tedious.
This is definately a "safe" game to play because although it has PvP playpens you can fight other players in, losing has no real consequence.......but then neither does winning unless all you're interested in is gaining levels and winning bits of gear. Dont expect any meaningful battles in this game though. There are no armies marching forth in units, no strategic battles that have any effect on anything. Despite what the blurb says war is not everywhere - you have to go wandering a lot to find the war in WAR. This isnt really surprising because Mythic in their infinate wisdom decided to cater to everyones needs. In other words the RvR actually isnt a neccessary part of the game so obviously many players dont bother with it and just grind their way through the PvE quests or hop into the mini-battlegrounds........which actually totally defeats the point of the game if you think about it. An RvR game where you dont have to fight the other realm to play the game? Hmmmm.
It has more in common with WoW (the game it was based on) than any Warhammer world. Its basicly just another static gameworld which you wander through, directed by the linear story with the option of fighting players on the way as you progress along the levelling treadmill to level 40 where you can fight endless zerg fights over and over again. It doesnt really do anything that WoW hasnt already done except for public quests, many of which are hard to do due to lack of players and even when you do get to do some they really arent very interesting.
Anyway buy it and try it if you like. WAR fans will tell you its great and that they have lots of keep battles all the time. Maybe they do. I personally thought the RvR battles in WAR were rather pointless but maybe that wont matter for you. If you want to just fight other players just for the hell of it then you might get some enjoyment out of the game. Dont expect anything deep or clever from this one though.
Is this game worth it? ive not personaly played it and yet it looks entertaining to me, is it a fun game? And yea im more of a pvper than a pve guy.
If you like Group PvP(RvR) its a great game IMHO..... Its not a solo pvp game like WoW were each class can stand up to the next, WAR was built from the ground up for RvR so every class is a support class for each other.
The PvE is ok but not as good as WoW. Theres no were near the content. But WAR is one of the most polished out of the box MMO's ever. Its not without problems, but Mythic is patching and implenting new stuff right and left which makes me think they definatly care for the game.
Its hard to get and honest answer on this website because everyone here has their opinion on what they think is the perfect MMO and if doesnt fit it, it sucks. It has been giving very favorable reviews in which you will get a more fair opinion about than here.

As I said its getting good reviews and I personally enjoy it. Its not the WoW killer, but what is? If you are like me and just got burnt on WOW and are looking for a more casual game, with pvp focus then you will probably like it.
However like a lot of people on this forum if you are looking for a very challenging game, with harsh death penalties, and hardcore then its probably not for you.
One excellent feature is that you can experience RVR scenerios even at level 1. And the grind is the easiest I have encounted considering the best experience you can get is from pvp scenerios which fit my play style.
On the negative, customization is about were WoW is, nothing like what we have seen what can be done with games like COH. And another big negative is that there seems to be more work put into the destruction side because most servers have more destruction players than order....
It's better now and entertaining... but at some point the entertainment stops because of the huge lag with open rvr-battles, which is the biggest thing in the game.. you cant maintain control when there is 50+ players fighting over keep, even 24 is enough to make the game heavy and lag like hell. its really bad -_-

Anyways good luck,
Although I dont have the same opinion as you, thats a very well written reponse. However with regards to the review scores, didnt Age of Conan get pretty much the same scores? In fact pretty much most mmos seem to get roughly the same score. Could be wrong there but thats generally what I seem to be noticing.
It's a good game, but it needs a lot of work to get to the point where it really works.
The rvr was reasonably aimless, the new patch has improved things a lot, lots of orvr in all the 4 tiers on most servers and more players are being tempted out of the scenario ssytem.
Ignore the trolls, most of them only played beta and the first few weeks of release, it's a better game now already. Personally i'd wait 4-6 months before buying/trying this game to see where Mythic takes it. They are certainly improving the game almost weekly.
Expresso gave me a Hearthstone beta key.....I'm so happy

If you are not playing anymore, i would love to take over your account, just send your logon name and password to me and i will continue playing on it, a friend of mine have the dvd with the client on it, if your sub time has run out, i will just resub on your account, and ofc chance the password..
Too much class interdependence for my taste. Can't stand their rigid rock / paper / sissors approach to class balance, very annoying to me. If you like solo PvP, then avoid this game like the plague. Classes are very narrowly focused, no true hybrids in the bunch and it usually boils down to who has the better crowd crontrol or the larger number of players.
With PvE raiding, it has never been a question of being "good enough". I play games to have fun, not to be a simpering toady sitting through hour after hour of mind numbing boredom and fawning over a guild master in the hopes that he will condescend to reward me with shiny bits of loot. But in games where those people get the highest progression, anyone who doesn't do that will just be a moving target for them and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay money for the privilege. - Neanderthal
I'am having the best time ever in Warhammer, so does about 800,000+ more people.
Try it out, you will not regret it. RvR is fantastic ( Warhammer changed me from solo PvE player to RvR nut ) and every class has something to offer ( each one has different mechanic, etc... ).
The game is much better now than it was earlier. The reason is that Mythic dumped serious rewards into the open RvR system, and now open RvR areas are packed with fights all night long -- which is kind of what many of us were expecting from the game all along, but which the game did not really deliver very much apart from level cap until recently.
So if you like the idea of big open RvR fights, pushing back and forth for hours at a time, the game is quite fun now.
Just don't do something silly like roll an Archmage.

You are correct - AoC got very similar scores and we know what happened there.
This game is in a similar state that AoC was. Itemisation is fubared, stability is awful, and the end game is broken.
Hmm, well i have played WAR, and i dont think its a bad game, but i dont think its a good game either.
I think you can have some fun playing WAR, but only for a few weeks, it gets boring pretty fast.
So i wouldn´t recommend this game to anyone, instead i would recommend you to play either Age of conan or World of Warcraft, does two games are much better then WAR.
So play AOC if you whant to play a mature game with alot of blood / fatalities / gore and naked womens.
Or play WOW if you like a fun , cartoonish , fantasy world game.
Good luck m8 !

no man, save your cash and time.
Only you can decide that... If you like a certain game or not depends on you, some people love WAR others hate it.
If you are unsure if it is worththe money you can always wait for a free trial, it will show up eventually even though it can take months.
In my opinion the game is intresting but needs more content and a little more work. Other disagree off course

depends on what you want out of your game. i would say yes but thats just my personal opinion. im having fun in the game
Im not going to judge it by what happened in the beta, but i would really love if they offered a trial the cheap bastards...

This game is awsome if you like PvP.Spend hours just fighting other people.Real teamwork is forming.Just logged off, spent 4 hours nothing but PvP.
If you are not playing anymore, i would love to take over your account, just send your logon name and password to me and i will continue playing on it, a friend of mine have the dvd with the client on it, if your sub time has run out, i will just resub on your account, and ofc chance the password..
send to nesbokaj@live.dk
thank you, and merry xmas
RvR is fantastic ( Warhammer changed me from solo PvE player to RvR nut ) and every class has something to offer ( each one has different mechanic, etc... ).
It's never boring.

Just don't do something silly like roll an Archmage.
you wish

You are correct - AoC got very similar scores and we know what happened there.
This game is in a similar state that AoC was. Itemisation is fubared, stability is awful, and the end game is broken.
Nuff said.
This.
If you are a casual gamer who enjoys pvp/rvr then you will probably like the game. WAR isn't aweful, but it does need some work.
