Open Beta questions: Post them Here!

Hey Everyone,

I am not in the open beta myself but I am looking forward to this game. I was hoping to make sort of a center thread for all questions regarding the AION open beta, obviously if those in the beta can come here every now and then and answer any questions it would be great!

As per my few questions:

1) Those of you looking forward to this game, are you FF online vets?

2) is the combat fun, or is it way too easy and feels boring very fast?

3) how is the end game for those of you who have reached the CAP

4) is there in-depth character customization, or is this another gear grinder?

5) How are the dungeons/instances in this game?

6) How is the gear/money drop ratio, and do you have a chance of getting rare items from normal enemies

7) is it actually beneficial to group for exp gains? I mean I understand the ability to get better gear by killing harder monsters, but does it actually provide better exp gain then soloing?

P.S. Thanks for any replies from the testers.

I'm confused. Is there an open beta for China? The game is live in Korea and will come out in different regions throughout 2009... Test is done? Or so I thought.

    Anyway.. :)

China web site: aion.sdo.com/web1/index.html    and the main web site:  aion.sdo.com/web1/guide/index.html

Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

    2) combat is fun, but they are not 1 or 2 shot kills. it takes a little more time to kill them. Soloing can be boring after awhile like any game but me not speaking korean does not help also.

    4) There is no gender gear, if it drops you can wear it.  There is a class requirement for gear.  ( Gladiators and Temp's can wear anything, Cleric and Chanter can wear anything but Plate. and so on)

    5) There are some instance dungeons ( I have not seen any yet, I have only explored one non instance dungeon so far)

    6) Drop rate is ok i guess, I make enough to buy new gear and weapon every 4 lvls or so and buy new skills every 3 lvls. Items are broken down into 4 tiers: White, Green, Blue, Gold. (gold being the best). I have only gotten white and green drops so far.

    7) I have not grouped much because of the language barrier but partying with frends in the l33t mob area will give you more exp faster and a higher chance of l33t drops (blue & gold items)

Is there a way that I can download the China Client and get into the open beta?

  • CyntheCynthe Member UncommonPosts: 1,414

Ah ok. To person above, do you speak chinese? If not, why tackle the headache?

I would like to just see the game. Look around the town and maybe go out and kill a mob or 2. I have heard from alot of people who  played the Korean Beta and did speak Korean and I am sure they just wanted to do the same things that I want to do.

I prob already know the answer to this, but I am assuming there is no release date as of yet for NA? Is there even an aprox date its going to be released here?  I mean early 2009 is cool and all, but I would be so much happier with a date lol.

  • CyntheCynthe Member UncommonPosts: 1,414

    There's no date. :D

    /comfort

You're going to need it! ^_^

Anyone know if there are destructable buildings or keep doors in the Abyss?

or if there are any NPC guards to protect the keeps and what not?

How about what kind of buffs and new hunting grounds do we get access to when we hold 1 or all?

    Keep doors are destructable.

When you get past the door you fight guards and faction that holds the keep and also the Keep guardian.

See video of Keep battle (best to watch in high quality): fr.youtube.com/watch

Thanks alot Stay that was a great video to watch, and also that looks like a lot of fun. Any ideas on what the most popular class is so far?

Also so far is the end game in Aion something that you feel will probably have really good retention for the long term?

Graphics wise, if a PC can run Age of Conan, Vanguard, Crysis would it be able to run this game on decent settings?

Any class you feel is a little OP at this point? Or is everything basically balanced?

Are there any collectibles in game like Vanity pets? Or do you know if NC Soft is planning player housing?

Sorcerer and Assasian are the most popular jobs

The game just recently came out. Endgame might not be so great right now but they will add on to the game.

The system requirments can be found on some post on Aionsource.com. They are quite good. I computer that is about 2 years old could run Aion.

Class Balancing is a big problem right now. But again the game just recently came out and NCSoft has said they are aware of the problems I will fix them.

I don't believe there are collectables. I do know that NCSoft did talk about housing but as of right now there isn't any.
