The thing I hate about WoW the most is the number of trolls it brings out. These people are pissed because: a) their game isn't doing nearly as well so they're jealous b) they blame WoW for other developers lack of innovation and crappy games, c) bashing WoW is the cool thing to do on the internets.
Is a man not entitled to the herp of his derp?
Remember, I live in a world where juggalos and yugioh players are real things.
Yeah, I hate those people almost as much as those who look at a thread title and make a retarded post without reading anything that includes pointless **** that other people already posted.
I started playing WoW in 04/05, I bashed it then, when it wasn't the "cool thing to do on the internets". I'm playing WoW again with my clan while we wait for Aion (and a mediocre game with friends is better than a good game with none, atleast to me), it is "my game". I have a lvl 80 in T7(.5) after farming the same 7 or 8 heroics everyday, and same 3 dungeon raids every week, how freaking exciting that was. I'm now moving onto the exciting feature of farming counter-strike matches in order to obtain new gear, so I can become better at farming counter-strike matches. Against enemies I can't even talk to, that may as well be mobs, because they are strangers, and any excitement that PvP may have had, was removed shortly when it is so easily obtainable by talking to a NPC, and getting so much of it that it doesn't feel like a special event...also a good thing I'm paying monthly to connect with thousands of other people on my server, when 99% of the game's content is stuck in instances and arena's with a handful of people, that often aren't even from my server. What a marvelous end game.

Pot. Meet kettle. Its not like "Things I hate about WoW" or similar type topics haven't been discussed here ad nauseam for years either.

I like wow. 99% percent of population is not OMFG I WANT HARDCORE, WOW IS EZ MODE WHAT A JOKE GAME HOW CAN PEOPLE PLAY IT. That 1 percent(which is most of people of these forums) can go play your uber hardcore mmos. Most WoW players are on the wow.com forums having contructive talk about the game. so you guys can keep feeding into eachother. 99% of wow players won't read these forums.

There's nothing wrong with that...I agre with you. But being hardcore and getting the best stuff doesn't have to mean time spent. My problem with WoW, is whether you are hardcore or not, aside from 1800+ arena rating, nothing in the game is a challenge. If a 10 or 25 man (or if they would bring back awesome 40 mans) actually took effort, and random gropus of people who sucked at the game couldn't do them, then no matter how much time you spent on the game, only the good players would be able to accomplish them. But oh no, that would be way too hard and all the little kids would whine on the forums, so they dumb it down to ez mode.
questing and levelling up is mindless and no fun for a start. all quests are not fun, collect and return, this is not gameplay this is is cheap way to keep you playing and looking at nice graphics . nearly all quests are like this, this is an insult to all gamers intelligence, they should be paying me to do not other way round.
there is no individuality or thought put into gameplay, every facet of the game is avaiable though the forums or add ons or playerbase, all playing same game doing the same thing, therefore no excitement, im not forging my own path or story at all im just a cog in a big wheel of a raid, im not an individual im either a healer tank or dps, and my worth is based on how high i can make the numbers go. you killed a boss, big deal your only the 4256111 person that day who has killed that boss.
everyone looks the same, everyone has same armour and clothes, customization is not true, becuase in a week or two some dork has done a spreadsheet and found out x=yx += blah blah blah and to get into a raid you need to follow the dorks results.
its too small, citys keep getting smaller dalaran is tiny for apparently massive world of azeroth. all the npcs stand around like manequeins with question marks on head, yeah really immersive.
pvp what a joke, its all instanced junk for a start, the battles are the same over and over and over, its no fun, pvp isnt something you do for fun. its work, and you save up for rewards. i dont need a prize or a reward for pvping it should be end in itself, something wrong if im supposed to be given a reward, kind of makes me think they apologising for putting players through that rubbish. mmoropgs are supposed to be living breathing worlds or apsire to be at very least, alerac vallet case in example its not unique its played over and over, and starts over and over with no consequences, so why did i fight through damn thing if its just going to reset ? oh im supposed to fight it 100 times? why so i can get 100 marks of course, and then buy a sword, thats it thats the point. maybe they should make it fun and make you want to play and win just for hell of it.
theres no real pvp read trealm forums, everyone jokes with everyone else, theres no war, people just kill each other in bg for new shiney trinkets and armor.open the damn world up let us set up citys bases etc, for real world pvp raiding with tactics and consequences, i want to burn a players city down and this includes all their loot and gear, maybe then people would actually give a damn and fight.
and that goes for whole game everything resets, no consequences no persistence. the game is all loot based, its just subtle form of gambling, except your gambling with your time on pointless exercises.

Way to be a complete retard and not read anything but the thread title.
That is why WoW is popular, because people were not interested in many of the aspects of the older games, WoW then made them more bearable and this ended up opening up the genre for new players.
*cough* No.
WoW is popular because it's the paradigm of an accesible MMO, targetted at a broad audience where only time is a requirement to advance.
Grinding quests is no more bearable than grinding in older games . I would argue it's a lot worse to Quest-Grind than it is to form a party and socialise.
Of course if you play WoW you wouldn't know this because there's no need to group in WoW.
this is why i liked SWG sure it was Powerleveling on Dan. but it was still a group and you made friends....
I don't hate games and don't hate players who may play something i don't, as far as i'm concerned they might be able to show me what i've been missing.
I've tried WoW and it wasn't for me, i didn't like or dislike it...it simply didn't appeal to me but i'm not blind to what Blizzard has done
WoW managed to accomplish what most MMO's don't, it took the gaming world by storm...it brought in gamers who four years previously would have -never- entered a MMO let alone pay for one...along with praise will come the hate, it simply goes with the territory.
i completely made an accout for the sole reason of pointing and laughing at zeblade about their comment and to give cal props hahahaha and oh...talking...screw you hahaha <--- loves playing gnomes

Before I begin let me say this. I played WoW, for about 3 1/2 years. I got to level 70. I tanked Illidan on my pally. I've downed him, I've gone through the content in that game more times than I could even begin to comprehend at this time. I quit, about 8 months ago. Why? I saw what it became. It's that thing somebody loves so much they refuse to see its flaws, and use it as a comparison for everything else. Most the time omitting what the other thing brings to the table completely and only looking at what they lack opposed to WoW.
What I've seen a lot of you not noticing is that WoW had an absolutely HORRENDOUS launch... The servers were down about 70% of the time, When they weren't down you couldn't log in for 2 hours because of overpopulation. They released with glaringly obvious bugs that not even my testing house would let through.. And we tested such crap as Legendary, Hail to the Chip, and Incecticide. Quite possibly the 3 worst titles to be released, ever.
The game has gotten to the point that comparing any New title or launch to it is complete madness and just plain ignorant. It's like Comparing a Nissan GTR to a Ford Pinto. I'm just fed up with people ignoring the flaws WoW has.
First and foremost. The game would be damn near the same as a single player game. You could strip out the MMO from the name and it's practically the exact same experience. 3/4 of the game Requires absolutely no interaction with other people. Last time I checked The MASSIVELY MULTI-PLAYER implied a sense of community within a game, it required you to socialize and come together to achieve something greater than yourself. But WoW gives each and every person this feeling like they are Hercules and can do damn near anything by themselves.
Secondly. Quest grind is far more mind numbing than a group of people sitting in Dreadlands at the north wall pulling Ravagers and CONVERSING with other human beings during the down time.
Thirdly, where's the downtime? Why the god damn rush? Aren't we supposed to enjoy video games because they depart us from reality for a while? Why should the game force me into this feverish fast paced environment that is a mirror of life in the real world?
Fourth and finally, Mutual respect between players in the community. Albeit you may have HATED that prick PK outside Moonglow, but you RESPECTED him for his skill. Wow strips the skill from PvP. Smash a snare button then feverishly drop you hardest hitting attack as much as possible... You know how I won at PvP on my T5 warrior? I charged hamstringed and spammed Bloodthirst and Heroic strike. Since when is that skill? They are making PvP Twitch based instead of tactical. Not everybody relishes in being faster than another person.
Wow is a game for Pricks, Whiney little girls when they don't get there way, and 10 year olds who immediately identify with the Disney movie-esque Graphics.
Respond with your typical WoW lover rhetoric, I'll still tell you to shove it.
Two things that I really hate in WoW are: 1) first and foremost, it is and is becoming even more of a single-player game with no obligations and motivations to participate in group-oriented activities.
2) this stems from the first bullet point - community has to be the worst an MMO can have. Just by observing general and trade channels throughout the game tells you a lot about the mentality of players. But of course, we must also realize here that is mainly Blizz's fault for making the game such a manouverable place for such a mentality (i.e. get epix and you win).

Another person who played the game for a looooong time, got his fun out of it and moved on and is now telling people how horrible it realy is. I think these are the only WoW haters I can't stand to hear from. Now don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with saying WoW has many flaws, all games do.
Also to remark on your second to last comment, which one of those categories do you fit in since you played for 3 1/2 years? Don't make generalizations like that, they never help to get your point across.
Right now? I'm a complete prick. Just because I played it for 3 1/2 years, does not mean I enjoyed those 3 1/2 years.. I stayed for my friends.
Word.
You stayed on a game that you didn't like......for your friends...for 3 1/2 years?!?
*boggles*
1: either you're admitting that your friends have such immense control over your life that they are able to convince you to piss away almost 4 years of your life...i've heard of peer pressure but this takes the cake!
or
2: that at one time you actually liked WoW (enough to stay with it for 3/12 years) and now you're bored, but instead of just moving on you feel this intense need to flame it and the players because it's the new 'in' thing to do.......and you're bored.
If you can't say 'no' to your friends then that's on you bro and invalidates your entire argument because you played WoW for all the wrong reasons...but i think it's a bit of both.
I think you're bored...you played WoW because 'everybody else was doing it' and you enjoyed it well enough to stick with it for almost 4 years, like so many other you barreled through the game to get the highest level/loot and found yourself with nothing left to do.....so now that it's cool to hate on video games/players you jumped aboard that train as well.
By your own admission you are led around by the nose by people you can't say 'no' too......my suggestion to you: stop being a prick, find your spine, and start thinking for yourself.

I'm glad you don't play WoW anymore. Those of us that play and enjoy it are better off without people like you. I'd point out how wrong almost all of your "points" and sterotypes are but it would be be pointless. Please, get over yourself.

Don't you understand?...he's already admitted he is a prick...and he only played WOW for 3.5 years for his friends..who by his own admission are also pricks, whiney little demanding girls and 10 year olds with a fondness for disney-esque cartoons. Seems like he would have been right at home with the company. So if he and his friends fit the profile of WOW players..by his own definition...why did he feel the need to quit at all?...hmmm?

Played - EQ 1/2, WoW, SWG, SWTOR, GW 1/2 UO, STO, CO, DCUO, AO, Rift.
The peopel that play it is what makes this mmo the only one i truly never liked.
I'm not a no life that sits in front of his computer all day long, I'm an intern that sits in front of his computer all day long.
No signature, I don't have a pen
Right now? I'm a complete prick. Just because I played it for 3 1/2 years, does not mean I enjoyed those 3 1/2 years.. I stayed for my friends.

Is a man not entitled to the herp of his derp?
Remember, I live in a world where juggalos and yugioh players are real things.

Good point.
