Is it a good idea to invest in an MMO?

I have been wating Starvault, there making Mortal Online. These are hands down the best Devs I have ever seen. They realy talk with the people and let them know whats going on, there seems to be no hiding anything or over hyping like WARs podcasts.
There stock is $4 a share, there brand new. I feel like even if there game coming out bombs there stock HAS ro go up after release right? Just wonding if anyone had any advice on investing in an MMO like this.

Investing in MMO companies is ok but mehh. I would deffinetly not reccomend investing in the makers of Mortal Online though. The game is not going to appeal to the masses enough that your going to make any substantial money. It is a no name company that doesn't have a very great chance of success. The game is still far to early to tell if it will even be released. In the past few years we have seen far too many games get a couple years into developement and then are cancled. Sadly the only MMO companies worth investing in are SOE, EA Mythic, or Blizzard. Mortal Online is g oing to get beat out by Darkfall just because they are hitting the FFA PvP market first.
Looking for a new game to play
Mortal Online is pretty hyped. I'd say go for it, if anything the stock prices will stay the same; definately not go down.
Infocom's stock price dropped dramatically, shortly after the release of Age of Conan. And Infocom is not a new company.
Like I said there is very little chance of this game even being released and if it does, it is not going to catch a major portion of the market to make it a good buy. With that in mind, invest your money elsewhere.

Well what I'm waiting on is to see if darkfail bombs. It is does I think I would feel alot better about putting some cash in the game. If darkfall is great I feel its going to be very hard for MO to get a good player base.
i wouldnt say there little chance of it coming out, I have never trusted game devs but these guys seem very fresh young and like they have there finger on the pluse of gamers. yes you are right that even if the game is great its not going to get WOWlike numbers. But Uo is still kicking 100k subs and its an old old game. There are some hard core gamers out there still, just depends if darkfall hooks em.

Darkfall's fanbase is ridiculous. It won't bomb, but it will be hanging by the final thread of fanbois soon after its release.
If Mortal Online goes for a mature, experienced playerbase; it will be highly successful. I think they are, so I'd say buy the stock.
lol you do know this isint darkfail right? they actualy show there progress unlike darkfail where they are so afraid to show something for the past 7 years dont get this game confused with darkfail plz not to mention the alpa test stuff starting soon so you = fail
Lol im not a darkfall supporter by any means but i still think that the game is going to be a huge hit. I would wager by the end of 2009 it is the second largest p2p MMO. Mortal Online is a no name game with very little following. I'd bet every dime i own that it never gets released.

It's gambling. IMO, if you want to gamble you will get more value for your money in Vegas. Tehre are pretty girls, you get free cocktails, a nice hotel room, shows, and you meet lots of people having a good time. It's much better than just losing money in the stock market. At least if you go to Vegas and lose your money you will have a good time to show for it.
My favorite game is craps.
Sounds extremely risky to me, especially considering how cheap stock for companies with very little chance of going out of business is at the moment.
The best devs? Are you basing this on how they interact with the community? Or the work they have shown? Just because they talk more then other companies does not put them on level with those of bioware, ubisoft or other companies like them. I would wait till beta builds to do something like this. But if you got the cash to risk why not?
