Its not exactly new, but it does reveal some new information.
Hi Everyone,
We will be using this thread to post the status and progress. There will be no ETA mentioned until we are done with the server and client build / testing. Please be aware that there are some things which are beyond Acclaim or the TCoS team's control which can cause delays.
Currently TCoS Team and Acclaim are waiting for additional files from a third-party vendor.
Thanks for your patience and co operation.
Phew
GM and Support Lead.
And in another thread it was revealed that the third-party vendor is GameGuard. It makes sense. An earlier post from a Spellborn dev said that the developers are waiting for some code from Acclaim before they are able to compile the beta build. That may not have been exactly correct. I am guessing that it was supposed to mean that they are waiting for some code for Acclaim from GameGuard.

While this might be true it may also just be Acclaim covering their ineptitude.
Gameguard sucks ass! I sure hope they don't use this in TCoS.

what is bad about gamegaurd?
It is already being used with the EU live version of the game and is working fine.
Do you know when US version will be available? I've checked a bunch of sites including their forums but no definate date yet... maybe i've missed a site or leak somewhere?
We don't know yet.
This is probably slightly more likely than aliens holding the developers hostage.
It does nothing to prevent botting in game and hinders and has created many issues with many a legitimate user via software and driver conflicts for game keypad hardware and various software that runs in the background like anti-virus software, etc. All you need to do is look at Lineage 2 to see how effective Gameguard is at stopping bots/cheating.

Just like DRM programs, none of them are ever uncrackable, but without them the problems would be an order of magnitude worse. Being imperfect is definitely not a reason to stop using it. To say that it does nothing to stop hacking is like saying that the police do nothing to enforce the law.
They probably are waiting for some GG support or code parts or licenses or whatever else can be the issue with that crap software. With TCoS Devs generally not being very speedy, it is not really a surprise that it takes so long, plus probably nobody worked in Xmas week anyways,
