By people "who actually understand the game" you mean 1 person who makes an active blog updated with only the negative points of the game, completely devoid of anything positive...yet after months he is still playing this game which is winning more awards than any other "new" MMO.

And fyi there are Koreans who speak english I play with.

i honestly dont give a crap how many subscribers they have.  Am i ever going to see all 1.5m on my server? no, i will see all X thousand that the server can hold.

as long as these games have enough players to fill at least 1 server then who honestly cares how many players they have?

    MMO wish list:

    -Changeable worlds
    -Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads

Those who cares about whether the game is making enough money to have enough resources to a) fix bugs, b) add additional features, and c) survive.

I am sure Tabula Rasa have enough to fill one server but it does not prevent it from dying, does it?

Not a very good question as different companies use different criteria in this type of claim.

I disagree 100% based on the numerous well written replies.

You are weird. How can u play 6 accounts at the same time?

Everyone I know who plays WOW has only 1 account. There is no point in getting another since I can't pay two account at the same time.

You must have missed the article about the guy that had 36 accounts........and he was getting ready to pay 1800 dollars for WoTLK for all those accounts......

That guy made a valid point that his hobby doesn't cost as much as others (collecting baseball cards etc.)

  • If a company has a press release saying 4.5 million active subscriptions. Then it has just that 4.5 million active subscriptions. Subscription doesn't mean it has to have a unique player behind it. Having an XXX amount of players is different. Because that implies it counts the unique players which is impossible. Take me for example. I pay for 2 wow accounts and they are both in my name. But I only play 1. So in my case there is 2 active subscriptions, but Blizzard could only ever count me as 1 person. There's no way to tell I have a child playing one account.

To me a subscription is the person who has bought the game and is paying the 15 dollar a month fee (or game card)......Anything other than that isnt a viable sub......Thats why  I conisder WoW to have about 4.5 million subs not 11 million......I just cant count all the asian pay by the hour players as subs.......They might as well rename that WoW Asia or something and consider it a different option...... All these companies take the numbers and twist them in whatever way it makes them look best.....Probably more accurate is to take about half of what they say they have and go with that.

Nope. I did not miss it. He is one out of 11.5M .. who cares?

99.99999% of the players don't do silly things like taht. With such a HUGE population, there bound to be some odd balls.
