I have played both..the one thing I liked in WoW over EQ2's quest system was the exclamation point over an npc's head saying that they had a quest..I had to ask every damn npc in every town if they had a quest in eq2 which got kinda tiresome..especially since I know I must of missed a few quests in eq2. But they both are good questing games.
after i beta test the EQ2, and find out EQ2's quests system is crap.
here is a typical quest in EQ2
talke to a NPC A then he told u to kill number of mobs at B, then u head back to NPC A.
then u start click next NPC and do the samething.
from lvl 7- lvl15, all the quests. i mean it, all quests are excatly same types. that's one of the reason i delete this game after SOE said they gonna release this game at 11/7, u can't make people buy your game if you just give retard quests like this.

Ive beta tested both, and though this is the wrong forum for such a comparative question, I will say the the WoW quest system to have a nice mix of static and dynamic. . .found it to be very very user-friendly, intuitive and not leaving me with a sense of boredom.
I found the EQ questing system to be tiresome and static and difficult to want to get involved with.
Sounds like the EQ2 quest-system is amuch like the one in SWG, wich sucks, and wich also is SOE. I was after SWG for the graphics, but after that I learned that graphics are secondary. A lot of the hype around EQ2 too seems to be about the graphics (and tha fact that it is the successor of EQ). WoW, on the other hand seems to have a quest-system much like the one in AC2, wich is great. That is the impression I got from beta-reports and previews at least. Rant me if I´m wrong!
Well. I can't speak for EQ2. But I can speak for WoW. It doesn't have quests. At least for the first 20 levels (didn't get past that). It has chores. Errands.

i would think at this point and time the more to the point question is which one has More working quests that one can acatuly finish get an updated journal, whatever rewards are there ?????
with all the comments on wonderful graphics on the other why aren't cloaks visable? even daoc can do "you can look and see the cloaks" and has a variation of different looking armor as well
How about, neither! From what ive heard so far the majority of quests in each game are just fancied up fed ec quests or go kill monster A and bring me C. Id have to say Guildwars, DnDO or DnL will have the best quests.
I can't tell anything about EQ2, but i don't really like the WoW Quest System. Ever guy who gives Quest has a gaint Questionmark over his head and so you just run from Questionmark to Questionmark an in between you slay some Monsters or/and collect items...
I prefer games in which you have to ask around a little so that you really have to read what the guys tell you and not only look what you have to kill and what you get for it...
The WoW Quest System should really be a little more "tricky".
I cannot Vouch for EQ2, but I have played WoW ( currently downloading the OB now ) and I must say it is a very fun way to play the game. Some say the quest system in WoW are Errands? Too Easy? Not really quests? But when it all comes down to it, I try to look back on other games that had various quests and try to relate them to how WoW is doing it. I like the idea of Having the Bright Yellow Exclamation mark over an NPC's head! No matter what game your playing, you still have to run around and find Individual B and it can get old running into a hugacious city and seeing 10,000 NPC's and each one wanting to give you some Quest and all your trying to do is find that Individual B! So the Exclamation mark deffinitly makes it more easy to locate quests, and to see what quests your able to do based on your level or status etc.
Another thing I found about the quest system is the level of difficulty. There are a lot of quests that tell you to Deliver something, to go to X-Point and Kill X-amount of creatures... even bringing back X-Amount of furs, bones, papers, etc. These are all basically easy quests, but later you discover they become more and more difficult. Travel across the world and talk to this person, find out some information and bring it back to me. Not necessarily difficult, but time consuming, and yeah, you really want that 10 Silver or gold or weapon he is offering, so you accept it! There are also many that tell you to go kill X-amount of this specific creature, but just getting there requires a party of 3+ people or else you'll die in no time! I think the quest system is fun and intuitive and the best part about it, is there are sooo many quests in the game. If you get bored of doing quests, which inevitably will happen, you can do so many more things in the game, besides just crafting items!

WoW, due to the fact that a very, very large majority of EQ2 quests are very frivilous and often times aren't even worth starting the conversation with the NPC. Even white-red conning quests can sometimes be worthless.
In contrast, it is guaranteed that a quest taken in WoW will always benefit your character if you're taking and completing it at the appropriately indicated level. If not for the items/monetary rewards then for the exp alone. And also, well, I found more WoW quests to be very involving when speaking of the WarCraft lore. Most of the hassling *worthless* quests are all centralized in the main WoW city hubs and by the time you get there you don't even see them to bother.
In conclusion, thumbs up for green quest arrows and very specific quest directions. The quest directions allow someone like my not-to-bright brother to even have a chance of completing quests, thus, keeping him playing.
Why do I get the feeling that alot of you are full of shit? This is actually an interesting question. Can we hear from someone who has gotten to a reasonable level in both games ? Fed Ex quests are terribly common in lower levels of all mmorpgs. As an EQ vet I'd be shocked if they weren't offering substantial quests by the upper 30's. Take a look at a primer for an EQ class epic weapon quest, they are insane.

I like Everquest 2's quests MUCH better than WoW's, but the problem is in EQ2 the quests are too hard to find. I love WoW's exclamation points over quest-givers' heads.
Though in the next update for EQ2 NPCs that give you quests will "call out" to you, so we'll see.
I voted for WoW, just because it's a pain in the ass to actually get the quests in EQ2.

What was the point of even mentioning the quests, because this post is the exact same thing as just an "eq2 vs Wow" post, except you added a word that is meaningless, why cant you all just let it go, and play the game you want, and stop trying to piss people off, thanks.
Neither gets my vote. Both are chores dressed up as quests. After the umpteenth time fetching some thingamabob for another NPC, the quests become tired and old, no matter what story polish the quests receive. The quests don't have the fun and imagination and appeal of well-crafted quests in single-player RPG computer games, like Planescape: Torment.

since todays patch all npc's that have a quest that you can do will say so when you walk by.
So far i had no trouble at all using eq2 questsystem, at this point in mmorpgs it is almost made to easy to do quests.

they are both thesame more or less
eq2 NPCs have voice is only difference
rofl
no eq2 is better
killing 10 cartoonish ugly WOW mobs for quest is more boring than killing 10 nice looking eq2 mobs
Killing EQ2 Claymation characters makes me feel like I am killing Mr. Bill from the old Saturday Night Live series.
