Earthrise is not disimilar to Darkfall; yet there is no hate?

I am curious about these two games. Both are promising similar open world, PvP gameplay. Both small houses and not based in any of the big countries. Yet I see literally no hate threads on Earthrise. Anyone have a clue why this is? Not saying there should be but just thinking DF is taking a pretty big chunk of grief right now.

I think it's a matter of size and vocalness. The ER community is smaller and overall seems less inclined to say things like "will change MMOs forever". In a lot of ways, we just make outselves a smaller target.
Earthrise fans do not go out of their way to tell everyone else that they are idiots for enjoying other games. Earthrise also doesn't promise more features than any other game out there, more advanced AI, more advanced combat, larger world etc.
Plus, Earthrise hasn't been in development, or at least in talks since 2001.

Plus, you kind of get into the whole Tasos deal.
It's more of the 8 development years, lack of community updates, we are going to release "soon", etc., that gives Darkfall it's rep.
Darkfall isn't taking grief because of its genre. its taking grief because of its idiot developers and the loudmouth who speaks for them.
if Earthrise, Mortal Online, etc., had been "in development" for the last 5-6-7-8- years ( depending on which fanbot you ask ) with nothing but delays and broken promises ( no pre-orders ever lol ) then they would be getting the same treatment.
Earthrise was announced less than a year ago. If 2015 comes and it still isn't released, it might attract more denunciations then, at least if it hasn't been abandoned as dead.
Don't worry, it will be next on the list.

Maybe it has something to do with the darkfall fanboys constant posting about how this game is the second coming or MMOs, or video games in general. It's just another low budget turd. When (IF) it comes out and it isn't at all as expected I'll be in line to say 'I told you so'.

Earthrise doesn't have crappy promises and absurd PR in the form of Tasos Flambouras--- the Famous Albatross.
That's because the Darkfall farce is sucking all public interest like some massive black hole as it approaches a release date.
Mark my words, once Darkfall crashes and burns, the flock will need a new game to latch onto. There are too many desperate, burnt-out MMO veterans roaming the plains looking for a new victim to pronounce as the next Messiah or WoW killer. Earthrise is a prime candidate to be the next in line.

DF is getting a lot of trolls because of the amount of time it has been in development. Also the community is A LOT louder than Earthrise community. We also do not really flame trollz.. We are a more mature community than DF in my opinion. We always help out each other and never get into crazy arugments. We have a great community leader that keeps everyone in check.
Also we are already going into closed beta. So by the time that all the flamers/trolls come we will most likely already be in closed beta. With gameplay videos and weekly/monthly updates.
Edit: I have no hate towards DF. I will most likely try it out when it is released. Tho I might be busy with Earthrise closed beta.
So I will try to fit it into my spare time.
I'd go with they don't have Tasos boasting that players don't know what they want in a MMO but that he does. Among many other wonder Tasos posts.

QFT...I can even go so far as to say ER has probably the most maturest community of all the MMO games in development, if you don't believe me check out the forums for yourself and try to find one troll post or a thread that has degraded to flaming....
Personally I think it has something to do with the fact the game and its limited amount of info that has been released, you won't see any ER trailers on youtube praising it as the next Messiah of MMOs like you do with DF. So most of the community are being realistic about the game, and are also limited to their own imaginations.
Although I'm pretty sure once Beta videos are released or are leaked, there will also be a trolling community to follow....Hopfully by then the established community won't be leaving or won't degenerate down to the a trolls level, and will to keep the trolls in check....

I think it is because the reasons you gave as the similarities, namely:
Has nothing to do with the Darkfall hate.Maybe if the Earthrise devs start a narrative of us hardcore mature gamers versus those carebear WoW sissies it'll start. They are already about 10x more open than Aventurine ever has been, and they're forums are not the unmoderated shoutfest that the DF forums are.
I'd say that the ire leveraged towards Darkfall has little to do with the type of game (despite how many times it'll be noted that "WoW players simply can't handle this game and want it to fail"), and much more towards the Dev house and their relationship to their community.

In addition, Earthrise Devs are open with their community and go out of their way to do things like, oh, I don't know, the "Earthrise Dev Chat" tomorrow. People like it when companies respect them by taking their time to talk about their game, answer questions, and make them feel like they matter.

Earthrise looks good can't wait to try it out. Darkfall , wow there is a lot of hate over there just like to read what is happening. asking a question can turn you into a troll or a fanboy.. neither sounds like fun...
If darkfall turns out to be crap this is second on the list.
I'm watching both games because I like the rulesets on both.
I'd wish that a big developer took the chance and made a game exactly like Darkfall, but with good customer service and publicist.
The thing is that every time a big company develops an MMO somewhere along the line they realize that the main crowd wants a storyline game that has safe areas, and even levels and classes.
I'm not thrilled about Tasos' rants, and I'm sure not thrilled with the community on the forums.
I am thrilled that someone is making a game that's not trying to make everyone happy. I just hope they follow through with it so other developers try to make their own game without looking to draw in more paying customers at the expense of the gameplay.
I hope this isn't seen as a fight, I like the looks of this game and the community. I just think that Darkfall is being unfairly beaten upon.
I come in here because I'm interested, people go into the DF forums just to ruin it for everyone.

Earthrise is not a Fantasy game so it doesn't threaten WoW fanboi superiority complex, Darkfall on the other hand.. as well as, well Any other mmorpg to come along in the Fantasy genre WILL get hate from that direction, then give the time that DF has been in developement that hate has time to swell up and fester. Darkfall makes casuals on wow nervous maybe even some EQ players as well, if it replaces them on top as the THE fantasy game to play they will have to learn to pvp, and most of them will die horribly. And they Know it.
Even if Darkfall manages to obtain 11mil subs, it probably won't cause WoW to shutdown and force its playerbase into playing Darkfall and making them "learn to pvp". The reason DF pisses so many people off is probably 'cause of nutjob fanbois like yourself. The more time I spend of the DF forums, the less interested I become in actually playing the game.
I'll wait till the end of '09 for some good 'ol sandbox MMO action, with a community that isn't fanatical and a game that won't be horribly dated by '09 standards.

The "I play a different game" superiority complex is what has done it more than any fantasy setting or FFA PVP could ever do.

Biggest reason is that Earhtrise fans are not screaming-insulting-arrogant-believe in anything like a child then call others stupid-raving-fanatic idiots that post 5 million posts like some WoW forum about how hardcore they are, but still only have WoW as their only game history.
So it's treated as a normal everyday game with a casual wait and see approach. Darkfall forums are just one big pit of lies from rabid fan bois, someone need to cool them down.
