Why do people hang around in forums non stop dishing a game?

Just curious.
I can understand people getting pissed when games likes SWG, UO, and EQ had game changing patches and addons that hurt the gameplay. And I can understand people getting mad and venting in forums and to the company itself for ruining the game for them.
What I dont understand is when recent games like AOC, WAR, LOTR etc......come out and you see some really hateful posts about these games that have only been around a small time getting so much flack. Heck WAR has only been out a few months, and every other post on their forum is a flame, hate post about the game. Despite the game receiving high marks across the review sites.
Maybe to combat this MMORPG.com can put a flame section in their forums and move these posts there. The ones that are just there to troll, no other reason... I think we all enjoy constructive criticism, but it seems like these boards are becoming more of a troll playground these days.

ROFL, MMORPG has been a troll infested spam your hatred towards every MMO playground for years! It'll never change and trying to segregate trolls into trolling other trolls in their own private forums isn't feasable! Just gotta live with it and ignore those threads/posts!
It has to do with disappointment. AoC and WAR both promised a lot more than they delivered. People fell in love with the hype, and when the game didn't live up to it.. well, they raged.
As to LotRO - I think it is a backlash from the recent round of hype it has gotten here. MMORPG.com's yearly awards have always seemed out of touch with the true state of gaming (sub numbers, etc..), and that adds to it. ::shrug::
I would have also liked to see a more severe moderation, but it's not within this site policy to heavily moderate the community. Still, the noice to useful information ratio is way too high (not that it ever stopped being high).

Here you have some peace: You are just the typical fanaticm hurt because someone is using common sense and is being critic with your game.
The same reason people spout unsubstantiated praise for unreleased and unproven games. Freedom of speech and opinions are a potent mix.
That not it, people aint criticising the games around here, they are just trolling around.
Maybe 1% are giving it a constructing critisism, the most people on mmorpg never gave the game a shot and are so heavily integrated with the graphics that nothing else matters in the game and that makes me sad, its just fucking trolls, nothing else.

You do realize that making up stats and making broad generalizations is, in and of its self, very troll like right?

To be honest trolling has been around since the inception of forums on the internet! People will always have opposing views. Just like in real life some people feel strongly about things and thus they present opinions which others may find harsh/offensive. Therefore, just like in real life there are 'good guys' and 'bad guys'.
But why is this forum mmorpg.com so abundant with trolls? Well its not rocket science.
1.) A site dedicated to a tonne of games of the MMO Genre. So you've already got conflicting opinions on what is 'good' and favoritism.
2.) The success of WoW. I'm sorry but this has some blame in the matter regardless of what you say. It has set player expectations of what an MMO is/should be so high that no developer has been able to keep up. Enter player frustration.
3.) Then we have the fact that there are MANY gamers now, with high standards who are simply not playing an MMO they enjoy or not playing MMOs at all. Boredom. So they come here to check out the latest stuff and spam the forums.
4.) My last point. Forums are fun. Just like an MMO, people enjoy it in different ways. Some people post about the positive, some about the negative.
Combine all 4 and you have mmorpg.com
those new games promised the world and delivered nothing. marketing hype ftl
Because people from those games hang around in other games forums saying,
"Our games the best, for real hardcare players"
"Its going to take yours down"
"how can you guys play this crap, *insert game* is so much better"
Well, its fun to rub the failure in their face in a "I told you so" attitude.
Because its fun?
They probobly dont want more people to play that game and feel the same way ^^
