The Logic and Semantics of Full Loot

xover33xover33 Member Posts: 70

I will probably get flamed to all hell for this but bear with me

I am not against loosing the crap that is in your bag or even your weapons because in all honesty in real life that stuff can get jacked real quick.

Here is the problem I have.

If I just killed someone with the intent of taking the clothes off their backs in real life, it does not take me 3 seconds to strip him bare.  It takes a good 45 to 90 seconds to strip the person of the clothes on their back, the armor they are wearing or what ever.

So why in this game the minute I am kliled does it take only 3 seconds (if the robber has an empty bag) to take the clothes off my back.

What is the Logic behind that, honestly.

I know it is a video game, and I know I can ghost run back to my corspe, so technically it should not be super realistic.  But, if the person is robbing me from the clothes I am wearing they should have a risk of some other passerby seing them and stopping them from doing it.

It should take 60 seconds to loot a guy fully.  That way the The Pk'er has a risk from taking all the stuff. He has to worry about and questioning whether it is smart to take the clothes off this poor saps back.

If I am going to risk going out into the world that I just want to explore, then their should be some securities that the people out there with the only intent is to take defenseless saps crap have to think hard about.

no flames.  but however from my understanding you will have to rummage through your victems bags and possibly have to move many items out of the way to get anything of value. so the one with a sharp eye out for the good loot and quick reflexes fr nabbing an item will have an advantage here. No it isnt 45 to 90 seconds but it also isnt a "loot all" type of looting. Just another way that skill has an advantage in the game. Im sure in many cases it will take several seconds to get anything good off of a corpse, granting plenty of time for your buddies to defend it. So yes i would think there is definitely a risk to looting your corpses. better watch your back

But my armor is not in the "Bag" it is on my freaking body.

maybe all the gear is like those quick remove wind pants with the velcro or snaps on the sides?

But seriously, you have a point. In most cases in UO people would just grab your gold, reagents and weapons, leaving your armor depending on if there was any threat near by. If you were taken down near a town you had a better chance of not being fully looted.

3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"

Oh Wow, I've set you up to mention another thing that this game has in common with World Of WorldCraft.

If you squint your eyes, you might not realize that this was my original goal.

Let us call it: Thread #3 That Darkfall has in common with WoW thread.

Nope, no Orc rac- oh wait....

Well at least there are no Dwarv- hrmmm....

    HEY LOOK! ITS ELVIS!!

    *runs away*

But on topic: There is no real logic as to having to have full loot in pvp other than personal preference. If items in game are next to meaningless, then full loot is kind of a moot point. If anything it wouldnt matter if it was full loot or just gold loot...

People should probably read about the game first before commenting on full loot.

You can't loot someone fully in 3 seconds. You have to drag each piece out of the tombstone GUI and into your bag. And some pieces will be over each other, so you have to move things around to get to the good stuff. No confirmation, but probably is configured however they had it in there bags.

Secondly, there is no ghost running back to your corpse in DFO. You spawn at your bind point.

Sure and when get hit by a sword your clothes get cut up and you take a year to heal.  Great idea.

And if you want to change your shirt it should take a minutes also.  And if you want to see how it looks you need to go find a mirror.

I love where this is going.

And you can't carry stuff in your backpack except a bedroll and some fruit caue they're all too big.  And if you want to eat you have to put your club down first cause you only have 2 hands.

    You're a genius!

I like this idea... In games that have harvesting of resources, it always takes time to harvest so why not have a delay to loot a player?  Although I think 60 seconds would be extreme.  Admittedly I know very little about DFO ,  but it sounds just like the looting system on UO except you were able to just take everything and sort it later (before insurance came into play).

    /fail

There is no ghost run, you come back at your bind point according to the forums and faq, so no WoW like feature there.

you dont have to go back to your tumb stone to get your stuff if you do not wish, there is no courps for you to return to.
