Like many others here I've come back to UO since nothing else really compares over the years imo. I have a few questions though that I've been unable to clarify by searching other posts...
I've read conflicting posts though that you must use the KR client to access the new Stygian expansion - is this true?
Also, I've downloaded KR but it is almost unplayable even at the low graphic settings with no sound. I think it looks great but everything I do is so delayed that I can't really fight anything. I have a 3.0 GHZ P4 with a Radeon X300 card and turn off/disable everything when I play. Not the best but WoW runs fine at regular settings and i can even get Lotro to run at minimal settings better than UOKR. I'm not in the position to upgrade my puter right now, so if anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks for any advice!
Edit - I just remembered Stratics has a great UO section and found my answers there, looks like they're building on KR for the new expansion and no mention of 2d.

Rest assured, the 2d client will definitely be supported by the new expansion. I doubt they'll ever do away with the classic; they'd lose way too many subscribers if they did.
The new expansion, when and if it ever comes out, will also be playable with 2d.
Don't really bother with KR now as they will overwork the client again (called the Stygian Abyss Client) and hopefully get a lot better and playable version out.
Thanks for the info guys - I'll be sticking to 2d then, it's really amazing how well UO holds up after all these years as far as that "fun factor"
I really like the look of some of the things in KR, and I followed some tips to get it working pretty well.. but.. without being nitpicky it just doesn't feel right. I wouldn't resub if I had to use that client.
I did notice the population seems pretty low on Origin, I'll probably load up one character and transfer to Atlanta or a more populated server
Edit: I mean Atlantic, no need to move to Atlanta I suppose
Atlantic still has a sizable population. At the unveiling of the new King in Britian other week, I'd estimate over 200 people showed up at the event. And those are just the people that read the UO Herald and knew to show up.
