Break Away from Turn Based Playing.

From videos, it seems that this will be the first 3rd person, live full action shooter / combat. Age of Conan is close, but still uses timed turn based actions in a sort. This means that if you can't aim you can't hit. Not sure if it's truly like this, but if it is, it would be a nice change of pace. Only drawback I see is the less skilled and disabled may be at a disadvantage.

SGW is turn based, though it isn't readily apparent.

The easiest way to tell is that it's only possible to have autoattack in a turn based environment.

    Sorry.

I think Tabula Rasa had a non turn based combat system and it was very good, a shame the rest of the game was a steaming pile with no features. SGW seems different due to the cover factor but the DEVs did say everything else about combat is similar to the standard RPG system of shoot and roll dice for hit ect.

I'm sure it'll be great anyway, I just kinda wonder how cover will work in a turn based environment. I see how it's useful in a live system, But if it's still turn based type then the cover would be object oriented. So... click the wall, use. Then click to stop using. We'll have to wait and see.

Well so far from what I've seen, I think the combat system looks interesting. It definately beats games like TR, wow and others where you just sit there and just button mash and real skill required only half the time.
