Well guys i downloaded the demo last night.....I found myself was glued to the computer screen for at least 4 hours My initial reactions when i logged in were kind of mixed i was a bit lost but slowly as i began exploring i suddenly found myself Very interested.
With that said today i went out to best buy and purchased a copy of the game... I am currently installing it and patiently waiting till i can log in... I have found a few bugs but the island where you start is newer than the main land and they were nothing serious, I have dealt with worst bugs when playing Age of Conan.
There is just so much more to this game than a grind to the cap... It feels a lot more like a sandbox game.
I play on Seradon and for a "Dieing game" as someone put it withing an hour of play i was in a group of 4 people and there were people everywhere running around!
Jhim Rains is my Character name, hope to see you all in Telon!

I totally agree. This game is deep... As stated in another post, i played for two months past summer, then got invited to a beta so did not renew my subscription. I am just back, and even if i seem to have some difficulties optimizing the client on my new rig - even when lowering settings i seem to be stuck between 35-40 fps, I still love the depth of the game.
Yesterday evening, I was just following the trial island questlines, when I decided that I wanted to improve harvesting... Ended up harvesting T1 mats and crafting new armor for my toon. My new helmet looks fantastic, managed to craft some grade A items, and finished the night as lvl 6 Blacksmith...
Welcome to Seradon! I'll give you a tell when I get to log in next (probably Friday). Make sure to introduce yourself on the community forums. You'll find that Seradon is very lively with more folks running around now than we've had in 1.5 years. However, be prepared once you leave the Isle of Dawn the game spreads out like you wouldn't believe... it's huge. So you will find yourself in low populated zones. But the chat channels are regional and you should always be able to find a group.
Erlijus.... I thought of sometime on your gameplay optimization. Sometimes settings get stuck.. meaning you adjust them, but there is no effect. You can try resetting to default and trying to adjust from there. You can also look at your ini file to if the setting there match your in game setting. If not, the file might be corrupt and you may need to delete it.
Also, if you play in windowed mode, the game assumes your desktop resolution and ignores your resolution setting in-game.
Actually 35-40 fps in Vanguard is pretty damn good, That what I run at with max settings and I experience no issues. Vanguard itself is one of the most hardware and graphics intensive games around, so really on high or better settings, if you are getting 35fps you got a good system. And for the most part, just ignore the general chat when you get all the little kids boasting 60fps and such, half of them cant even describe their systems in real terms and a number of them straight up lie LOL. As long as the game is playing smoothly for you I wouldnt worry about anything else.
60fps is a good number to shoot for outdoors. If you can get that, then you will probably have 20fps in dungeons in the biggest, bloodiest, crowded fights possible. There are so many settings though, and spell particle effects have a huge impact on raid fps with so many others around.
Here's a screenshot from just outside my house, looking east towards Rahz Inkur. We see a couple Galleons on the river probably fishing and Rahz Inkur in the distance is a very well done high end adventuring area.
Well crap, I wanted that to be a thumb-nail clickie.

Well all I have to say is good luck to you. If you would have done any research you would have known to never play another SOE made title again. This game was the worst launch that has ever been done in mmo history. I will never go back and a few million will say the same. This game is like fight club to many, never say the words Vanguard or Age of Conan you might get your arse kicked.
Sony didn't make the game, they published it.
and they did a very good job cleaning it up. It's debatable whether or not some of their changes are for the better as It seems a bit more soloable but I haven't gotten very far.
Personally I think it's silly to hold a grudge on something that is no longer an issue.
the game plays fine, looks great and if one is interested in exploring then all the better.
It just seems unreasonable to state that because at one time there were huge issues that a fixed game is not attractive.

All of us having a grand time in vanguard thank you for not playing it.
Cheers!
You are wasting your time with any game that SOE has any dealings with. Yes SOE didnt make it but they owned since maybe like 3 to 6 months after it launched. The reason they took it over bud like all their other games, they made the game fail some way shape or form. Keep playing the game if you want, SOE will devour you in the end, lol. And you will be crying like a baby.
this game is the largest game i have ever played. the world is huge, dungeons are like another world altogether. great depth and opportunities to explore.
go troll somewhere else mongoloid.
Great to hear kerigar!
I got hooked about 2 months ago myself. Played in beta and for about a month after. I came back and havent stopd . Just rember to try and find a guild. The community is the most helpful i have found in any MMO. The world outside the isle's is HUGE! dont get overwhelm'd. Take your time and have fun.
Yes, i believe SOE's mission statement is to "Ruin all games we are associated with so they will fail."
That there is just good business.
SOE CHANGED MY SWG!!!!, SOE PUT IN CASH SHOPS!!!, SMED TRIED TO HAVE SEX WITH MY CAT!!!!
Its really getting old. They just make games you know, no reason to hold a huge grudge.
And by the way SOE may have made some changes to Vanguard that were not welcomed by those who loved the original concept of the game, but they have also made it playable for many. That is a good thing. And if all they really want to do is keep it afloat for those who want to continue playing it (as they are doing with Matrix) then that is a good thing also.
SoE did a nice job saving this game. It would not have made it without their intervention. Not all their game decisions have been popular, but they have improved Vanguard an incredible amount by fixing the vast majority of bugs and improving performance 200%.
I agree with you, had a lot of fun playing EQ2, but I still wish they would fire Smedleys butt, the guy is bad on communicating with the customers. SOE do have many good devs and I hold no grudge to them but Smed is another matter.
This is one of the few games I have yet to play between EvE Lineage 1 and 2 "Lineage 1 being my 10 year addiction"POTBS and COH I'm pretty much out of time to play new games, but I'll give this a shot it's one I been meening to try for awhile and Im curious to see what rabbits Sony has pulled out of their preverbeal hat.
its a bummer that you bought the game..if you downloaded the trial, all you have to do is sub to the game and they don't charge you for the client. They don't seem to advertise this of course.
Hehe i knew that when i baught the game... I just did not feel like downloading 18gigs lol....
Now i will never have to download it again.. Plus i got some horseshoes or something i havent been able to retrieve yet because im not off the island
So last night i hit lvl 10... Ran into some minor bugs on the trial isle but as stated previously hte island is new... Just about ready to venture out into the big world im planning on getting my crafting to level 10 and perhaps diplomacy before leaving.
In the process i managed to get my other friend sorta hooked on the game.. He is also level 10. Now my question is do you need to sub to the game to leave the island? I have already subscribed myself my friend has not.
Cannot wait to see what the mainland has in store
AFAIK if you downloaded the trial island you can only roam on the island. There is a 14 day free trial from fileplanet but no clue if thats different.
And about the bugs... The isle has maybe... MAYBE fewer bugs than the rest of VG, but it wont get much better/worse in the rest of Telon.
Hate to tell you but i played on telon last night for about 4 hours and so far no bugs....
Been playing for one week now, and honestly, the only bug I had in one week is the graphical engine freezing on me when changing chunk (geographical unit in Telon). Just had to restart the game. Appart from this one, game is rock solid. BTW, and may start a post with this, game looks so much better once you rift out the island ! Go to mountains range around Khal, and check. The view is amazing ! I am using shaders 3.0, and whereas water on island was brown and dumb, water around khal is blue with all sorts of reflects... Impressive !
Yes, to see the Main Land you need to subscribe to VG. However, the Island has content up to lvl 10 in all 3 spheres: adventuring, diplomacy and crafting. Additionally, if you roll another character you have the option of starting on the Island or the Mainland, granted of course you are a subscriber.
