I think this game will do very well in the market. It has a d2 kind of feel to it and is very addicting. This pvp is fun for those who like pvp, and the pve is fun also. I have Alpha tested this product for a while now and I like it. I have played many games UO SB SWG L2 and tested alot of those too. I am very hard to please as a gamer but i see myself playing this one when it hits gold. One key thing about Guildwars is that it won't be P2P. That in itself is worth a look imo. All in all i like the game and will continue to test it til its gold.

The game will do well on the market, and be popular forever aftwards, just like the game Diablo II before it.
Personally I think they're geniuses.
It seems to be lacking a wee bit of something. But. It'll make tons.

I think it's a great game, mostly because of the PvP.
I want to see how they handle actual "guild wars", though.. after all, that should be the main focus of the game, and I hope it is.
IMO, the PvP is the best in any game I've seen.

I agree that all in all it lacks in that certain feeling of accomplishment you usually get from a real mmorpg. When you are a really high level and have some new cool equipment....
But it is still a very fun game and will sell out in stores for at least a couple weeks and unless you have your pre-order you won't get the game for a while..
I think it has a large amount of play time enclosed in it. Why you ask? Well, I can't decide on my goddamn class, for one! Christ, there are so many combinations, I just can't decide. Right now I am giving Elementalist/Necromance a go. I already tried Necromancer/Warrior, Warrior/Monk, Mesmer/Monk, Monk/Mesmer, I can't choose! Looks like I will have to do them all...
Im not sure how I would rate a game, like say... Dark Age of Camelot, if I was already level 30.
And I think that is why people are having mixed feelings about Guild Wars. They do not have the sense of achievement or depth of character that you develop when playing a game from the start.

I kinda didnt like this game for the first day and 1/2 mainly due to the fact that the paths system I felt it was very limiting.. But I have to say it kinda grew on me and I found myself trying to speed twink one of my toons just so I could eat up people in the arena in PVP.. Speaking of the Arena that was awesome I really enjoyed myself in there...I most likely will be picking up a copy of this if I can find some way to tear myself away from WOW.

You see, every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with their surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You spread to an area, and you multiply, and you multiply, until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet.-Mr.Smith
Its from NCSOFT a company that is building a reputation like that of its competitor SOE.Take that statement any way you like .
Want to ENJOY an mmo?
Dont start a guild and dont be a leader or volunteer to be coleader or captain.
Just play the damn game:)
I personally don't like NCsoft or SOE for that matter. But I like this game It kinda brings a strategy to PvP and group combat is always fun. Ive always loved group combat from my UO days Order vs Chaos much fun there. Anyway IMO this game is fun and I still think it will do well another simple reason its gonna do well is the fact that it wont be p2p
was a great game when i was going through mission after mission, but after finishing all missions getting like 25 fame and lvl 20 n getting my armor.. it gets boring 3 styles of pvp.. guild v guild.. 8v8v8v8 or 8v8
Trust me after u get bored with the pvp there is a complete boring holt/lack of content.. you can explore but whoopdie dooo when you exit out to explore u take a group of 4-8 people or yourself.. both ends up very boring with people getting tired and leaving your group becoz when ur out exploring there is nothing to find/do cept for some dragons or something
my vote is definately not.. take it back to production for a year and add more content then maybe id change my mind
the game shouldn't be classed as a MMORPG due to the sector/district thing
From the Guildwars FAQ at http://www.guildwars.com/faq/default.html
What kind of game is Guild Wars?
Guild Wars is a competitive online role-playing game. Players can engage in cooperative group combat, in single player adventures, or in large head-to-head guild battles. Guild Wars is a mission-based game set in a stunning 3D fantasy world that offers full, integrated support for guilds. Because the team that is developing Guild Wars has had experience creating successful online game series such as Warcraft, StarCraft and Diablo, the members are familiar with the complex issues surrounding online games, and are creating a game that's both easy to learn and compelling to play long term, and yet doesnt require players to spend hundreds of hours slogging through the preparation just to get to the fun bits.
hmm
guildwars is gonna let me spend a bunch of time on my ass. It was sweet in the WPE and Beta, cant wait till the next beta weekend
Three guys and a girl are marooned on a desert island. After one week, the girl is so ashamed of what she's doing, she kills herself.
After another week, the guys are so ashamed of what they're doing, they bury her.
After another week, they're so ashamed of what they're doing, they dig her up again.
HOT -> For someone that can't afford a real MMORPG like Everquest 2 or WoW.
NOT -> For someone that can afford a real MMORPG.
At first I thought EQ2 was very linear and similar to GuildWars. I was so wrong. EQ2 is still a true MMORPG with a huge world!
Guild Wars will remain as a game like Diablo 2. Where you meet up with thousands of people in the city, then decide your group, then go in small groups in your own dungeon or wilderness.
Which isn't all that bad... but as you keep playing, for someone that can afford to pay for a MMORPG, we are going to miss those huge 30 people battles against 1 huge dragon!

Everquest 2 female elves are HAWT! World of Warcraft nightelves are NAWT! I'm not an EQ2 fanboy, I'm an elf fanboy. (^_^)
I'll go for blond hair, white skin elves anyday!!!

Stealth - Ambush - Hemorrhage - Sinister Strike x2 - Cold Blood - Eviscerate - Vanish - Preparation - Cold Blood - Ambush - ... you're dead! :P
Who needs a huge dragon when you have guild battles of more than 8v8v8v8v8v8? Id take that over a wusy NPC dragon any day, and I had a lot more fun playing Guildwars than WoW so far (although i am having alot of fun with WoW now )
Guild Wars is a pretty good game but I probably won't be buying it, the pvp is great and has room for expansion, pve is pretty much only used for camping materials for gold/equip but otherwise if you play not even a lot you can max out pretty quickly, I'll prob buy WoW

So far, it's shaping up to be exactly the game that my friends and I have been waiting for since D2 went downhill. "Real" mmos are way over-rated for the most part, more drawbacks than benefits. It's more work than fun, and you have the "privilege" of throwing away more money every month for it. Admittedly, I don't come from a rental crowd. I come from a D2 crowd. We entertained the idea of migrating to a rental, but they all just sucked and we couldn't justify it, and this remains true still. On the other hand, other games we tried such as DS and NWN just didn't quite give us what we were looking for. Good in their own right, but just not enough. A solid migration there never materialized. But now there is GW, a hybrid between the two types, trying to give us all the good elements we wanted while cutting out most of the crap. I won't say the game is perfect. It's not and never will be. No such thing. But it does seem to be just the sort of thing to fill the void. It is fiercly competetive, yet gone to great lengths to make things resemble some degree of fairness. There is plenty of content and exploring to do, and there will be more overtime. Nothing can be all things to all people, but this should scratch our itch quite well for a long time.
