Whoever would even THINK about donating to this company must be batshit insane.

    ...Even if you're extremely rich...

The fact that the question was even ASKED is pretty much proof of EXACTLY what is wrong with the MMO genre.

Where did we forget that we are customers that pay a price for a product and a service?  The game developer makes a nice income from providing this product and service (IF they please the customers), and they have no intentions of sharing their profits with the customer, so why EXACTLY would a customer consider giving them money?  (Other than for a product and service...I mean basically...charity.)  Why?  I don't even understand this train of thought here.  It's not like donating money to St. Jude's Children's Hospital here.  You're considering donating money to a developer of a GAME.

Somehow I really feel some gamers have truly lost touch with reality.  Amazing.

If you took this question and applied it to ANY.....ANY customer/client situation....it would look and sound just as ridiculous as it does in the case of a game.

The ONLY time contributions to a company, of which you are a client, would make any sense at ALL, is if they are sharing the profits.

<Snip>  Developers hold no promise or crap to anyone.  They can make the rules just as much as they feel the need to bend them.  Do people learn nothing from this fail of a game or anything before hand?  SOE?

Video game market is more or less for the capitalist.  It comes down to one thing.  It's a product, spend your money, and shut up and buy.  What you want it to be all equal and tolerant?  No such thing.  Welcome to the real world.

When did you start playing "old school" MMO's. World Of Warcraft?

No. I could pay for a sub even if I thought the game was still in paid beta, and if like what I saw but I won't donate money to a company unless it is a idealist non profitable company.

    lol

Seriously though- if the game or company cannot survive on its own, it doesn't deserve to live.

It's not a cause. It's a game. It's unfortunate that simple people seem to mistake one with the other.

Maybe RG will take them under his wing. He said he was interested in getting back into the Fantasy MMO game.

    what the....

Sorry, but no we dont! We are meant to be the customers. It is not the customers job to save a dieing company i'm afraid.

If you go to your local grocery store, and the lady at the checkout tells you "excuse me, but we are going through difficulties, can you give us an extra X dollars please?" would you do it?

NO....I would say, "You know what, lady?  We're ALL going through difficulties.  Is your "store" going to lower all their prices so that it's easier for MY family to pay their bills?  No.  I didn't think so.  I'm sorry for your struggles."  I would then turn around and leave.

I don't know where this OP gets off thinking that corporations and companies are suddenly charities.  WTF??

What would you do if that store then closed down and you had to travel extra miles to the next one, and then they closed down as well because of your greed?  Unfortunately, we only have one Darkfall.  Don't blow it.

Man...I do NOT know what you've been smokin'....but it CAN'T be legal.

Either you're a young child and just don't have any basic understanding of the words "greed," "charity," and COMMON SENSE, or.....you started this thread to be funny.  But you're failing at "funny," so maybe you don't know the definition of THAT either.  I don't know.

As someone else so eloquently stated previously:

DARKFALL IS NOT A "CAUSE".....IT IS A GAME.  It is an independent company that should have PLANNED better before starting a business venture.  Is it up to me, and the rest of us, to compensate for THEIR poor planning and financial lack or even possible incompetencies?  (I know...I'm using big words, sorry.)

If I'm going to DONATE money to SAVING something, it's going to be the RAINFOREST or helping some poor family put FOOD on their table or pay their child's hospital bills.  It's not going to be to "save" some GAME.  GET A FKING GRIP ALREADY.

    REALITY CHECK, puhleeeeease.

I think you have your answer no way in hell.

Besides wasn't something along these lines was tried in beta of DnL granted your 10 bux went the games pre-order cost ....Hmm is DnL still even around.

I would suggest to make a public issue of shares

Players can buy the share and be part of the company.

That way they can get there funds and its not donation

This is provide we assume the devs are genuine to the coz na d need the funds to support the game and not own personal gains

OK, here we are a few days after the servers for DF have come up(?)down/up/down/etc..... and those of us with common sense have to look on in amazment at the fanbois lining up with $$$$ in their hands to play in Beta quality gameplay. Amazing....AND...it also sets a bad precedent to all future game developers. Now they can all get paid to have Beta testers or so it would seem because they know fanbois of (insert next game here) will pay unquestioningly.

I would be willing to pay the original $50-$53, and then $15 every month.

I'd take money away from them to let it die as fast as possible.

  • 0k210k21 Member Posts: 866

The time to save this game was when it was in beta as thats what beta is SUPPOSED to be for, fixing bugs and making sure the general game works and there are no major problems, I hold no sympathy for an idiot company that fail to listen to advice ( There were literally hundreds of us telling Aventurine to delay but they ignored ).

Though I will admit this is not the worst MMO launch I've seen, it can still be saved but honestly, they'd be better off just shutting it down now unless they're actually willing to listen to their player base and not the fanbois now.

Quoting people doesn't make you clever, in fact, it makes you all the more stupid for not bothering to read the quotes you post in the first place.

I'm a fan and all, but this is a stupid topic.

We pay our subs, we get our product. If we're not happy, we leave.

I cant see why they need people to dontate them moneey. They have a mechanism in place for receiving huge amounts of money anyways - opening up more on-game slots. I actually aplaud their decision not to flood the game to a standstill. That said, wheres my copy? :P

I say give them a tax payer bailout.
