Funniest release in history! ACT I Fun and games with pre-order

joshwajoshwa Member Posts: 118

Cruise though the DF Oforums for a few chuckles.

The system they have set up is just too funny. People have been trying to purchase for ten hours or so, the CCV numbers arent set up right for AMEX even though its in the list of CC. Some are even silly enough to submit the numbers multiple times due to not getting any confirmation and WILL get billed multiple times(thats gonna be fun). Theres more but you get the idea, tried to warn people this bunch has zero idea what they are doing but of course this is all just an illusion.

Enjoy

No sir, you have a freaking mess in your information. Pre-order is not out yet, only for the testers. Everyone claiming otherwise just do it for the fuck of it.

I'm sure a few accounts will pop up on e-bay for a crazy price.

Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

This is exactly what I was talking about. Aventurine does not have the capability to run a proper MMO and play with the big boys. They do want to charge like the big boys though.

If people were billed multiple times, I wonder if they'll ever get their money back?

Now the website is down again. Another DDoS attack? lol

Well a problem was that a beta tester leaked the PO link and everyone tried to nail it as quickly as possible (see Profreds post) causing Aventurine to have to shut the PO site down for now.

There are 3 types of people in the world.

2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"

I dunno, PO rules stated that the $5 fee was non refundable.

And your point is? The link was leaked almost imeadeatly, like that was a huge surprise. Now the question is does fanboism extend to billing systems also? lol you guys are great.

Yes because this has never happend in any other MMO.

no wait EVERY other MMO in the market has crashed on patch day.

The network framework for a billingsite has nothing to do with how the gameservers are set up

The billing system is the most revolutionary feature of Darkfall. It was extensively tested by our advanced AI bots and was found to be feature complete and ready to launch 7 years ago. Moreover, if it was going to launch now, it would be more stable and ready than any other billing system that's been released 3 months ago.

Any problems you may be having with our billing system is due to your system. We suggest you completely format your hard disk, reinstall Windows and try to submit your credit card information. Keep submitting it until it goes through, it may take a few tries due to the billing system being in debug mode.

sorry but the way you handle billing, csr's, and forums are also part of handling the game.

I hope that you realize, Darkstar, running an MMO is not just keeping the servers up and running. Billing and customer support are both very important aspects of this business. Without a proper billing system set up, people cannot play on the game servers. Not to mention the problems that may arise from people being billed multiple times.

Seriously man, you're so trained to lash out at any critique aimed towards Darkfall or Aventurine that it's begining to take a toll on your common sense.

I have to spell this out for u dont I ?

Thats ok, dont worry about it, it was to complicated for you, Ill explain it.

You see when alot of ppl, specifically gamers, starts to hammer the same site for, say a download, or maybe a preorder, doesnt really matter which its all the same, that site will fall.

Trying to put the blame for that on development company of the game is ofcourse ridiculous, it has to do with the fact that the site that people are trying to access is really only designed for normal peak traffic, not the massive amount that it is suddenly getting.

The reason for that has to do with stuff like server infrastructure and things that would really not be any point trying to explain to you.

Feel free to ask if there was anything more that was unclear for u, im always happy to help.

And yeah as u say, billing and support is part of it, and we have yet to see if AV will manage that part of it, specially support will be interesting to see how they handle at first.

But that doesnt mean that a site isnt gonna fall down with the amount of traffic its getting now, thats just how it is, and as I stated u see this happen with every company.

I can't think of an MMO that has sold its own game. Every MMO I have ever bought or pre-ordered has been bought through a third party like Bestbuy or Amazon. This is a symptom of not having a publisher.

You might have not started the thread but you're attempting to do damage control by blindly defending the company. A company which messed up.

As for it happening with every company, I have been playing MMOs since Ultima Online first came out. The only serious launch and billing problems I can remember were Anarchy Online and Age of Conan. But both are ran by Funcom and Funcom and competence don't play well together.
