I want to go back to either this or AoC cuz they are my 2 all time favorite MMO's but i am afraid. everywhere i go all i heare is allitle long and this game will be discontinued. not enough people... so on so on. i dont want to reactivate this and get on again only to have it be shut down. If WAR and AOC are your two all time favorite MMORPG's then you must be new to the genre. Welcome.

Neither game is being shut down, find yourself a populated server and go play.

I was in this situation a few days ago.  I just couldn't make up my mind about what I wanted to play.  If you want my honest opinion I would tell you to just flat out stop listening to other ppl, especially ppl on this site.

This site is nothing but a bunch of whiners and trolls.  It's down right sad to see what has happened here. Use it for general info, dev interviews, stuff like that but stay away from the forums.

As for what game to play? In my honest opinion WAR bores me to tears.  I just recently went back to AoC and I'm very glad I did.  Don't believe what the haters here say about the game.  Try it for yourself.  If you have the comp to run it you wont be disappointed.  In the end tho just play whatever makes you happy.  If your having fun who gives a shit what other ppl say.

    Just my 2cents

*Edit* Both games saw server merges btw.  It has really made a huge difference in server pops in both games.  In a good way =P

For as long as there has been, there already were Doomsayers.

    Ignore them.

AoC and WAR are not going anywhere for a long time.

Hello Kitty Online: Island Adventures. Play it and prepare to be amazed.

if you liked WAR and AOC then you WILL love it aswell.

Well you see, Warhammer Online and Age of Conan.

Age of Conan isn't going anywhere. It's boring all there is to do is crafting, Mini-PvP games, and PvE raiding. Yeah that's about it. It takes about 116 hours to get from lvl 1 to level 80 and from lvl 70 to 80 is a grind fest.

Warhammer Online: You can do PvE and Scenarios. Plenty of them. No grinding at all.

End game: Raise your guild rank, PvE raiding, PvP raiding (FUN), massive city seiges, crafting, raise your renown rank (80 lvls; not easy), PLUS Call to Arms expansion next month

So, make your decision. Age of Conan is good for a full time 7 raids a week end game and crafting on the side. A good game to raid all the time, is there a point?

And Warhammer, crafting, full time 7 day a week PvP raiding and a few dungeon raids plus the Call to Arms expansion. Might be fun, check it out.

You haven't been playing AoC for a while have you? ;)

The new border kingdom changes make it a lot fun, you have to mine pvp resources to maintain your keep and these resoruces also drop if you are killed in pvp. So that zone is full of win right now for level 80's that like to pvp on both pvp and pve servers.

Right now i am subbed to both games, but AoC is the one i will keep. WAR is just too buggy to enjoy for me, even though it has interesting concepts.

WAR buggy? Nope, it has its minor issues but what game doesn't? Buggy is AoC, major, ya they fixed a lot but the game is still tons buggy. So please never put AoC and WAR int he same sentence while saying WAR is the buggy game.

Minor issues like castlag for months on end? Zones that don't lock, Doors that are broken, Zones that crash when the original intent of the game is reached (lots of people fighting).

    Things like that?

Warhammer would def. be the way to go atm. This week they are offering a few free server xfers to more populated servers, if your not already on one. First time since release i have actually had a queue to get in, and average time is 20 mintue wait or so,which i find is a good thing.

They also have some events coming up starting the 26th of Feb that are going to give you early eaccess to 2 new classes and these events will eventually lead to a new free expansion. I have been playing off and on since release and i have been having more fun the last couple of weeks than any other time. Scenarios are almost insta-join for about 18hrs out of the day, there is no shortage of ORVR going on. Its great seeing 2-3 full WB going for the same objective.

Yea there are some bugs but what game doesnt have them. None i have found that are game breaking. I think this game will reallly give you something to do until the other titles your waiting for are released, esp over the next 2 months or so. Just my 2 cents

If you have a choice join Ironrock or Dark Crag servers-- they always has some action going on.

It's funny, I agree with your comment about just play what makes you happy but have the exact opposite opinions about WAR & AoC. I am still very much enjoying WAR, but after a while AoC really did almost bore me to tears.

For example, I like to try out new careers using several Alts, but never bothered in AoC because the thought of having to endure 'Torture-age' over & over again was just too depressing. Not that creating Alts in WAR doesn't also involve quite a lot of repetition, but at least there are three different starter zones.

The specific likes & dislikes aren't worth dwelling on, but for me at least WAR has a much better community feel & the game seems far more enjoyable. That is just my opinion though & as you suggested, people should play what makes them happy.

If you can't "Have your cake & eat it too", then how can "The proof of the pudding be in the eating"?

Yeah, i agree, thats why i am curently subbed to both games because you can only make up your mind by actually trying it :) Its always very subjective anyway.

One other aspect of PVP to look at is: you've gotta know, do you want exciting open world, anyone can kill you at any time pvp or boring gotta go to ORVR zones or scens to get PVP. Dont get me wrong I enjoyed both I just enjoyed AoC more. They really have changed a lot for the better since release.

Or... you could roll on an ORvR server on War... I play on an Core server on WAR simply because when I hit lvl 20 in AoC, the first thing that happened to me was I was killed by a lvl 80 Necro just sitting around farming lowbies...

Don't get me wrong, I started playing online games with MUDs... a full PvP, Full Loot MUD, no less. I love those types of games. But in this game, there were consequences for farming lowbies (Community and Clans all Blacklisted you) In AoC and WAR there isn't, and that is what turns me off.

/agree all the way. WAR is a damn good game imo, but as Leowyatt said test it for your self IF YOU  like it,play it. the most pop servers atm Volkmar,Praag,Iron Rock, Dark Crag. GL on what ever game you do choose to play. Just remember its a game were suppose to have fun :)

It's true WAR isn't for everyone but I'm having more fun with it than any other MMORPG I could choose right now.

The key is to find an active server, I transfered to Monolith a while back and that made a huge difference in the gameplay.   Monolith has lots of oRVR action going on and there are constant battles to lock down T4 zones every night it seems.

Also the Bitter Rivals patch is about to go live and from what I've seen on the Test Server it really makes some nice improvements to the game.

Plus there's a free trial out there now, so if anyone is wondering if they'd like WAR I'd wait until the patch goes live next and give the free trial a whirl.

    I suggest trying this: http://ng.neocron.com/

Not as many people playing the game but, probaly more than if you pick a low pop server in WAR. BTW, its a better game with better PVP.
