How's the community for this game shaping up? Are there any guilds getting themselves together for this one?
I'm looking forward to playing this one.
I really hope that *insert game name here* will be the first game to ever live up to all of its pre-release promises, maintain a manageable hype level and have a clean release. Just don't expect me to hold my breath.

The community actually isn't bad. What is sorrowfully, is <some> of the decisions by <some> at the company. They are killing what could be a great game. However, it does still have a long way to go...

The SGW community is good. Being there for 2 years now and I am always having a laught there. If the community is one way to judge the game. It wont be half bad.
Or you can read through some of the recent threads here and get a good idea too. I think the comments from some of them about wanting people to die and such have been removed though.

I have never seen any posts or thread that make direct statements about wanting people to die. So I dont know were you got that from, since your not a memember of SGW forums for reason I dont know or care to know really. So please stop trying to ruin the name of SGW community people thank you Blakey.
Don't forget what a wonderful thing Prt Scn is mate.
ok i apologise for that please die comment Blakey, but I just dont like to see people drag potentional game driving trough the mud.
SGW official forums are pretty bad in my opinion. You may not ask about the pyramid scheme and words including MMOGULs have been censored. Also there's not many posters, the majority being a small gang who're mates with the MODS (MODs used to be posters). I find if they don't like what you're asking or disagree with your opinions you often suffer infantile abuse and the thread is derailed and the start talking about cookies, pie or just go back to blowing eachother about how wonderfull they are click.
That's how threads asking for information go, there has been no information on SGW for months. There has been one statement concerning the pyramid scheme that said CME has no contract with MMOGULs (true). Also another about how they have a cash flow problem. You'll get more info on CME on anyother gaming site but the official forums!
But yeh, go over there and ask why there has been no info for 3 months and when they intend on leting us know about closed beta starting.

Glad to see one of you guys come in and add your little bit to the mix
You convieniently left out the part that some members have been banned for just talking about the subject and asking questions, which they had every right to ask.
Oh please. No offence, because maybe you're not involved, but anyone that spends a bit of time in the IRC channel knows that's complete rubbish mate. Anyway, the "spam" isn't the issue.
It's the complete rudeness and attacks on anyone that has thoughts that deviate from what's deemed acceptable by "the pack" that's the issue. It's not boredom that causes that. It's a deep seeded sense of entitlement brought about by mods encouraging that sort of behaviour behind the scenes. Encouraging it because some of them act exactly the same way when they don't think the CM is watching.
Khabarach I'm just going to have to disagree with you, and anyone who wishes to know the truth need only go to the forum and start posting to find out the answer.

Thats good advice. If you are curious about the official forums, take the time to go visit them.

in general, i found the community to be much more focused on the stargate IP than on MMOs. back when i participated in teh forums, discussions or comments regarding the game's development or potential mechanics were rare. it seemed like the community was more fixated on discussing their favorite episode or character and showing off "cool" SGW signatures. although, to be fair, that could be due to a lack of information about the game.
since i'm not a huge SG fan, i just couldn't get into discussions about asgard technology or which SG-1 episode is my favorite.
Since I've since joined up, and been cruising the SGW community, I thought I'd at least give my take on it, since I asked the question.
I'm excited about the community, it seems older in general than many of the games I've been playing lately, and the community is comprised (at least the boards, the game isn't out) of mostly Stargate fans. The game site is completely devoid of information (the Stargate Worlds wiki is the place to go for info), as the the game is being kept pretty well under wraps. Going onto the boards to complain about this will get you laughed out, but I haven't seen anything nasty said.
There are some guilds already getting it together, so that's a good sign. Guild sites already up and lowly populated by future players.
The game itself, who knows. It's in beta under a NDA, and for whatever reasons people decide to speculate, not much info is out.
Anyway, thanks everyone who came in here to discuss this!
