Just curious. Did you actually play DAoC?

You say it "looked like shit", yet you put "it was yet another medieval etc"

Not defending the OP, but I will defend DAoC if anything.

    Tried it, Trashed it fast.

Go back to 2001, the game looked like shit, even anarchy online which had a million bugs was more worthwhile in looks and depth

Oh ok you trashed it fast. That's fine.

You just never even brushed a lot of the things in game.

Why bother. He obviously is one of those that trash old games just cause their graphics sucks. We, who grew up in the 8-bit era actually enjoy alot of those games even today.

I run mame quite often to enjoy a hectic arcade shooter now and then, I emulate alot of stuff from the 8-bit, early 16-bit era, I often buy those small games from indie companies, which I might add often contain subpar graphics but a helluva good gameplay.

I was subbed to AO for a very long time and had a few returns lately allthough the game is dead for me now. It still is one of the best scifi mmo's out there at the moment allthough Shadowlands tried to do a EQ on the userbase. Bottom line is, he must be very young or just inexperienced as a gamer, which is ok by the way. It would be fun to see him defend Halo, or WoW in some 20 years from now.

Wow, huge offtopic there. To keep in topic, this is a troll thread. You see them now and then. Best is to just skip on to the next one. It's good to see that the Darkfall trolling syndrome is cooling off now, when we see threads like these.

Not that I've done my share of trolling. I just do it for shit and giggles though. It's fun to shackle the fragile world the fanbots live in

WAR hits a new low on xfire with under 10000 hours played. Xfire so far has been spot on predicting the general trend in recent games so say what you will.

Either way, expect another big subs loss in the EA 1Q earnings report. I can't see this game reaching the end of the year.

I suppose it's almost inevitable that so many troll threads degenerate into trash arguments about Xfire.

I would 'Say what I will' if it hadn't been said so many many times before how unrepresentive it is.

If you can't "Have your cake & eat it too", then how can "The proof of the pudding be in the eating"?

I've been defending this game for some time, not because I am fanboy, but because I thought it was fun and had potential. However, to claim this game doesn't critically drop in population is just ignorant. My main who was made on release(eu) has been offered free transfer for 2nd time now. I'm not playing anymore, eventually I lost my patience, but how hard is it to predict same would happen on last orvr active server in Europe?

There is definitely something wrong in core game design(I will ignore bugs here), which doesn't keep people attached for longer periods of time, meaning they would want to invest in their character and experience new content..it's just renown grinding until your eyes pop out of boredom.

Sadly, cause I found pvp mechanic to be fairly good- group vs group or wb vs wb fights were awesome (if equal numbers/skill).

I blame EA. Think of WAR if it was released in January 2009. It would be a whole different story.

imo, they brought out too many servers during launch.. which is why they are starting to merge some now. The more people there are on a server the more active open-rvr would be.

It's simple, EA as NCSoft is a big company with money in their minds. If the game lose other players, they simply shut down the game, maybe after an year as Tabula Rasa or brutally as Earth and Beyond ... (the first from NCSoft, the second from EA)

We are talking about money and Warhammer was an expensive game... Maybe it wil be reduced to 5 servers to let him live....

It's difficult to say how a mmorpg as EVE online has now a grater number of subscriptions than AoC or Warhammer...

Maybe the wind of change (ironically the power of Tzeentch) is blowing up all the theme park games for the new generation sandboxes??

It is a matter of number: only two games in development arew theme park (obviously with a monthly fee): Aion from NCSoft and The Old Republic from EA... It is an hint on these problems...

Other mmorpgs in development are all sandbox, or quite similar, such as Mortal Online, Fallen Earth, Earthrise, Star Trek Online, World of Darkness, the upcoming Elder scrolls online and Fallout online; Tera have some sandbox features too (also a combat system more likely a sandbox than a theme park)..

Sadly is the cycle of life, one upon a time the mmorpgs were only sandbox, or similar, until now only theme park, in the future another sanbox era....

I hope there is another sandbox era coming.  I miss the days of logging into a world, instead of now logging into a page in some chapter of a linear story.  If there are many "sandbox" games in development, I will be very excited.

WAR failed, in my opinion, because it is a one-note song:  log into a linear themepark and go zerg.  Not much to that; gets old fast.

OP is an obvious troll. This game is very active. People who play it know this for fact.

One full warband is hardly a healthy population for a game. If all I seen was one or two warbands of peeps then I would be worring about the game. When there is less then 4 full warbands per tier then something is wrong with your server.

For the most part the game has stayed true to what they promised and every patch as dramatically bettered the game. PVP mmo for the most part only only cater towards a very small portion of the mmo community. We will never see a massive WoW esk population in a game that caters mostly towards pvp. War is a good game and what it strives to do it does very well. It won't die anytime soon and will continue to grow again.

Well Ive just resubbed after getting bored to death of the bland genericsm of WoW and tbh im loving it.

A strong feature of WAR for me is that there is fun relatively balanced PVP tp be had at every level. I dont feel the need to power lvl any of my characters or grind rep to get that extra 5% crit on my shoulders. I can just turn up and have fun.

    Great stuff.

Throw more DoTs... maybe the game will die faster that way.

Lots of inflating and intervention, until it finally collapses.

    Some say it's by design.

Four full warbands per tier?  Every tier, including the lower ones?  And no matter the time of day?

Pardon me for saying so, but if these are in fact your criteria for WAR (or most any other game) to be a success, there's no way that WAR was ever going to entertain you.  It's just not realistic, nor is it a real requirement (other than for you, perhaps).

As it is, one to two warbands per side in a lake is quite sufficient to provide the feel and enjoyment of large scale battle, in my opinion.  And the game provides that, even on medium population servers, in my experience.

Expecting 4 or more full warbands perpetually fighting in Tier 1 is simply absurd.

Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned.

The game won't be dieing in a hurry, however it will (has) dwindle into mediocrity and just chug along for a while.

I know you did it on purpose. Im' juts benig a joketser

Good catch on "invisioned" by the by.

My contribution to it all will be that he did not capitalize the letter/word "i" at the beginning of his paragraph.

Well so much for the game of the century bullshi* people were spamming all around the forums.

However this game would prolly do better if they started some server merges. I dont really get why so many companies are to proud to do it.

I'm not a no life that sits in front of his computer all day long, I'm an intern that sits in front of his computer all day long.

I'm with the OP on this one...  I REALLY REALLY wanted this game to be sweet.  And it was.  For a month or so.  Then EA had to come along and give it a nice firm Falcon PUNCH! right to the nuts.

Thank you EA, for destroying everything you lay your hands on...
