People, please don't let the desperate grasping at straws denials coming from SGW fanbois cloud your judgement. Keep in mind, these people are trying to say that a company that's trying to scam people has set up shop on in the same building on the floor below the CME offices. That the companies are in the same building and owned by the same person has already been shown to be true.
Any reasonably intelligent person that looks objectively into the situation themselves further will undoubtedly see that there's a clear connection between CME and this, what looks to me as being, pyramid scheme company.
Don't take anyone else's word for it though. As I said look around yourself.
This is turning into a real black mark on the entire genre. Potentially causing more damage than the gold selling issues that abound. This isn't MMO players spending their own money on something arguably foolish.
This looks to be be a company making an MMO having plans that are involved with bilking people like your parents, your siblings, your children, your friends, out of large amounts of their hard earned money under false pretenses. A company that looks like it's planning to prey on people at a time when economic hardship is a reality and many are desperate. All this while associating itself with one of the games in a genre most of us are associated with.
It's a company that appears to be willing to have every other game in the genre looked upon with distrust. It will end up effecting the bottom lines of other games because sure as you're sitting there, the perception will become that those associated with MMOs are dirty scam artists.
Time to step up people. Time to make yourself heard and to show that MMO enthusiasts will quickly turn their backs on such shady goings on, and companies that want to soil the gene with these kind of underhanded dealings need not bother trying because we as gamers will not support them.
From what I gathered, some company that may or may not be affiliated with SGW is asking for $250 up front to play a bunch of games (to include SGW) plus a 50 dollar a month fee. Is this right and if so, whats the problem (besides it being pricy) ?
Actually, this could be a brilliant business model.. I can see the potential.. paying one time fee of $250, plus $50 a month to access 6 games online for a total cost of $850. Think about this, to purchase six games will cost $300 right out of the gate or more for the boxes. If you subscribe to all 6 online at $15 /month for 12 months, it will cost you $1080 per year (15*6=90*12)=$1080.00. So the idea has merit to it and the motor racing game is probably www.iracing.com/home.html check it out.
Also, in my personal opinion, there is nothing wrong with MLM, - it called "word of mouth" the difference is one you being paid, the other is not. All type of business model has suffer with a few bad apples.

Except you're only talking about a part of the picture. The "front" if you will.
The seedy underbelly of the plan is recruiting people to feed the pyramid up the line. It's the false promises of @ $10, 000 a month or even week incomes to those that buy in for more and recruit and recruit and recruit others to recruit recruit recruit.
It's people buying in high on the promise of products to come (i.e. more games) that very likely will never come, and because of the shell game wording of everything absolutely no chance of getting your money back.
It's people getting threatened and harassed by those up the chain for not performing (i.e. not recruiting enough) and being constantly pressured to go to real life friends and family to get more people, or to put in more of their own money so the next guy above can send their "quota" up the pyramid.
It's you logging in the game and being constantly harassed by people trying to get you to join their leg of the pyramid, and having to totally put up with it because there's no way in hell that the company is going to impede people from recruiting .That's how the guy that owns the company will be making money. Do you see them doing anything about it?
It's almost every command in the game being just a front for these scam artists to lure unwitting players in and "pitch" them in to buying in high.
Not only that, but listen to Gary Whiting in that audio presentation. He's talking about YOU like you're nothing more than a dumb mark. Some idiot gamer to be used.
Oh and about your belief that most MLMs are on the up and up? I call B.S.
... and you need to not become an unwitting accomplis in promoting that people should get involved in possible criminal activity because of some misplaced loyalty to a game.
I'm going to declare this a hoax purely on the basis that, if it were real, they could make a far better scam out of it. I mean, come on. "Motor Racing Game"? "To American Football Game"? You're expecting to get people to pay for that? Come on; if you're going to make promises on which you can't deliver, at least take lessons from Adventurine or FailCom on how it's done.
$250 plus $50/month for six games, each of which you wanted to play, might be a pretty good deal. But if you pick any six games on the market, even six really good ones, how many people are there with active subscriptions to all six right now? Very few, and furthermore, I'll bet that most of the ones that there are are the sort of people who don't check their credit card bills very carefully and forget to cancel subscriptions.
And that's if you pick six good games. If all you have on a couple is a single phrase description, and no information whatsoever on others, that's not going to be six good games.
Does anyone else think it kinda ironic that Stargate Worlds is a pyramid scheme?
ROFL. Maybe that's how the idea came to be. You're on to something there!
No it's called a mothership scheme! Which makes Gary Whiting first prime to the system lord "So'krap"!

The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience"

And that is why...
Conservatives' pessimism is conducive to their happiness in three ways. First, they are rarely surprised -- they are right more often than not about the course of events. Second, when they are wrong they are happy to be so. Third, because pessimistic conservatives put not their faith in princes -- government -- they accept that happiness is a function of fending for oneself. They believe that happiness is an activity -- it is inseparable from the pursuit of happiness.
It a bit sad to read through this thread and see so many that were unfortunately proved wrong now that there's no denying who's involved, and what's in store for people that play the game if it's ever released with these same people involved.
lol I just finished reading how STO has removed ships and now SGW has this massive scandal.
Is it that hard to produce a major mmo without having an agenda?
