When it comes to things I want to do before I die, watching movies doesn't exactly spring to mind. But I would agree that classics are better than the stuff Hollywoood puts out today.
You know, in Paint Your Wagon, Lee Marvin isn't the only one who sings. So does Clint Eastwood.
Here's the Simpsons' version
I've probably seen most of the movies that I want too, but just give an answer I'll say...wait a minute, you know what? I did just think of a movie that I want to see that I haven't.
A Man for all Seasons - The story of Sir Thomas Moore, starring Paul Scofield, who won the Academy Award for best actor. Also won best picture.

Following the collapse of his clan, unemployed samurai Hanshiro Tsugumo arrives at the manor of Lord Iyi, begging to commit ritual suicide on his property. Iyi’s clansmen, believing the desperate ronin is merely angling for charity, try to force him to eviscerate himself—but they have underestimated his honor and his past.

I'll be dead in about a week or so from my virus. I'll be sure to check e'm out. JK. lol.

One older movie that really suprised the hell out of me was:
Barabba
www.imdb.com/title/tt0055774/
It was an amazingly epic movie for one I had never even heard of. Anthony Quinn (Zeus from Legend of Hercules Series) plays Barabbas, who was the one the crowd chose to free instead of Jesus when Pontius Pilate gave them a choice. There are some pretty amazing scenes in a Sulphur Mine and some awesome Gladiator stuff as well. I'd even say it was better than Ben Hur or Spartacus because Barabbas actually has some depth to him and isn't such a rigidly "good" character.
Do yourself a favor and check this one out.
I have lots of favorite movies so I'll name the 'Obvious' "Gone with the Wind"
Cool Hand Luke
Hands down Id have to pick Logans Run and Robison Crusoe goes to Mars. Those movies opened my mind in so many ways. Albeit the Martian Chronociles were amazing.
Does cut scenes in Zelda - A Link to the Past count?
Depends how "old" you mean by old movies.
Relatively new then i would go with
1984 (awesome film and spot the similarities with today www.orwelltoday.com/ )
Animal Farm (awesome film about the rise and subsequent corruption of Communism)
Moving to older films then
Citizen Kane
Metropolis
Nosferatu
Problem is there are so many good, meaningful films out there it's difficult to give a definitive list
"The problem with the French is that they don't have a word for entrepreneur." -George W. Bush, discussing the decline of the French economy with British Prime Minister Tony Blair
The Burbs!!!
gamertag - Swaffle House

Seriously....you need to watch both those and Cat Ballou...with Kid whats his name...that one is funny as well.
Drunken master was awesome. You forgot to add The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and all of the star wars.. regardless of what you think of the new ones.

I watched Cat Ballou when it was in the theatre. The only thing I remember about it is the drunken horse.

You saw this in the theater when it first came out? Awesome. I wish they would bring these movies back and play them at theaters today. That would be great. ^_^

People don't ask questions to get answers - they ask questions to show how smart they are. - Dogbert
I would include "Ben Hur" watcing the chariot race and looking at the set they actually made was amazing.

Ya I am a Heston fan
Ran - japanese 1985
Seven Samurai - japanese 1954
Duck Soup - Marx Brothers 1933
Barry Lyndon - kubrick 1975
the plot is a bit less interesting near the end but this movie won 4 well deserved oscars for Best Art Direction-Set Decoration, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, and Best Music
These two are two I recommend as well! Great movies!
i will see the movies which deal with the classics of literature, such as jane eyre.
Lee Marvin's performance in Cat Ballou is truly over-the-top. He is genuinely funny in this film. That's what makes it so unexpected.
BTW, he won the Oscar award for Best Actor for his performance as Kid Shelleen in this movie.

- I don't know, but some people without brains do an awful lot of talking, don't they?
Yahoo has compiled a list of 100 must see movies before you die. Thought it was appropriate for this thread.
Nice list. ^_^
