The Older Gamers [TOG] Looking for Mature NEW members.

OzTOGgerOzTOGger Member Posts: 2

Are you 25 or older? Then I hope we're the guild for you.

The Guild Wars division of TOG has over 300 members fitting into five guilds and 1 (new) hard mode guild. The guilds are joined in an alliance (Kurzick but we change every six months or so) and considered a single guild (they have matching capes to prove it!). Most of our members are from America, followed by Australia and finally Europe, but we also have a few logging on from Africa and Asia.

The guild offers access to a TeamSpeak server, an active forum, a division website, guild events etc. We are mainly PvE, though some members prefer PvP.

We were chosen as the  Guild of the Week   in November 2006.

If you are interested in joining us, please visit the division website and the TOG website which also hosts our forum.

Otherwise, The Older Gamers [TOG] is an international gaming community of people that still enjoy playing computer games, but are in a bit of an older age bracket (25+) than the 'stereotypical' gamer. TOG is for gamers who are passionate about their gaming, but who want to escape or separate themselves from the abusive, disruptive and disrespectful behaviour, usually attributed to younger players, that is so often encountered when gaming online. This is exactly what TOG is about: a friendly, vibrant community full of PC gaming addicts from around the world, who are old enough to know how to enjoy themselves properly!

All we ask of our members is that they meet the age requirement and that they abide by the TOG Acceptable Use Policy.

That's us and we hope to see you soon.

Ermmm when you say 25 years or older- you are stating that age=maturity.....Believe me thats not true.....

I am 19 going to 20 but I consider myself far more mature than my fellow gamers.....Even my guild in WoW agreed to that. I have recently bought factions and plan on buying EOTN next month so if your guild makes an exception for some young but mature players I would love to join.

P.S : My WoW guilds average age was 25-35.

Just out of interest, how do you play on verifying that members are indeed over 25?

I also wondered that. And as a response to snowytechna: I'm not sure that they made the connection age=maturity it may also be, even though quite unlikely, that they want older players just for the sake of them being older. Sure it may sound stupid, but remember that they maybe watched older TV programs than you and can discuss them and such. However I've never been much of a fan of guilds requiring a certain age, probably due to my own age.

Hi guys,  Firstly to Snowytechna, unfortunately there are no exceptions to the age limit as that is a cornerstone of the TOG way of life. TOG are not only into Guild Wars, but span around 30 different games of varying genre's. The age limit is there for all the games.

Lydon, as to how we police the 25+ limit, you have to post on the public forums first before you are granted full access to the private TOG forums and guild acceptance. The post needs to include info about yourself and you also have to read and agree to various rules and regulations and state that you will abide by them. One of the things in them is that you are 25 or over. If it is discovered that a person is under that limit, they are removed from the guild after thoroughly being investigated by the admin and mod teams. So basically we rely on your honesty.

    Cheers

Sorry to break the news, but generally it is VERY true.

Now if you want to argue that age doesn't equal maturity in mmo guilds...you might be right.  But in RL ages does, in general, indeed equal maturity.

Therefore, age does not = maturity. Sure it may in many cases, but as you just said it doesn't in all, therefore the initial equation is true.

I am very interested in joining, just recently picked up Guild Wars again after a long initial break (only played the factions campain). So now i am going trough nightfall, and then prophecies afterwards :) so some pveing to do first, but i hardly have any skills unlocked so i need to hehe :)
