Yeah I was just checking out their website. It seems to have a bit of potential though. I wouldn't mind trying it out in the future. Not everything about WOW is terrible.
I agree. I love spin offs though, which reality is this is kind of what this game is. I mean I'm not the type to say games copy and or are like a game just because they are new and based on their subscriber base they are like a more popular or less popular game. I'm just saying, this looks exactly like wow. Could be a good thing. Maybe they won't make it so gear based and step away from some of wows mistakes.
I'm not even going to talk about the look of the game, or how much the world looks like WoW.
But did anyone else notice that humans come from an empire called Asheroth? LOL
Just playing devil's advocate, but one could also point out Turbine's game Asheron's Call. I'd say Asheroth is alot closer in spelling to Asheron than Azeroth. *shrug*
Either way, graphically to me it does look alot like WoW as far as the landscape. I didn't look at any avatar models to see if they had the same eaggerated features and weapons as WoW does. Either way I'm not a fan of their art direction as WoW is the first thing that comes to my mind when I looked at the landscape screenshots.
"Many nights, my friend... Many nights I've put a blade to your throat while you were sleeping. Glad I never killed you, Steve. You're alright..."
It's frankly simple; everyone is entitled to make their own games whether you like it or not. I'm not the kind of person to compare a game to another. In my perspective; all games have their flaws. Just try it out and If you don't like it.. No need to rush on the forums and be a troll about it. I'd say something I don't like about a specific game and leave it at that.. and try something else. Why compare? Why judge? This game is in DEVELOPMENT, lol. You know, you gotta admit that you will try this out despite the posts you made today.

That's like saying I'm going to try a cricket to see if it really taste like chicken someone said it did when really I know it looks nasty.

Not rly....but ye...k
But It did taste like chicken
Anyways, why rely on what strangers say especially on the internet? These games are for YOU to experience. No harm, no foul.
You ought to check my profile and see how many games I have tried and check out the posts I've made about any one of them which you will not. I personally believe that people who made the games, earns the money (despite the f2ps) deserve credit regardless on how displeasing SOME of the games can be towards the gamers. If one of the games aren't that great for me, I would simply not subscribe and move on. Why talk down to others, compare, and do some constant bitching that would make no benefit for anyone. They (devs) would only listen to the positivity in a rational manner on what needs to be fixed. Do the developers really want to hear that their game has been compared to this game, that game or that game over there? No. None of them do. They spent their time, their lives, their money to make a game and knew what kind of games are out there, what characters look like, what landscapes look like, and everything else.. I honestly think that none of them intended to make carbon copies of other games because that'd be a waste of their time. So really, I congratulate to those developers that made the gaming world fun as much as they can. That's simply my perspective.
I'm so going to try out Alganon. It merely looks interesting which is good enough to try this game out.. Not because it "looks" like WoW everybody says.
Just make your own game if you want the specific expectations on it.
Like the woman said, dont like the direction games are going, make your own.
But so what if it has some simular designs to WoW? The main thing that makes WoW successful is that it runs on almost any computer. So what is wrong with trying to make a game that runs simular?
Like the woman said, dont like the direction games are going, make your own.

I agree with her. However; saying a statement like that is ridiculous. I mean come on. I wouldn't play a game if I made it and it would take way too much money to get a game started from the ground up. I'm talking about a real 3d game, not some browser based game. That I can do and get it going pretty easily with a few hundred bux, lol.
But anyways, I agree for the most part. People shouldn't look at games and put them down when they are in their early stages of development just based on a few screen shots.

Btw, I book marked the game.
If i made a game, no matter what kind of game it is, i would play it to enjoy the fruits of my labor.
I agree that it's dumb to tell people to make their own game. I would certainly try this game out. Like a previous poster said, hopefully it won't be as item based as WoW.
Why a lot closer? It's just as close really. In both cases it's one letter replaced with 2.

Asheron - Asheroth
Azeroth - Asheroth
It's obviously just a combination of both.
Ok, seriously, who gives a <insert expletive of choice>? It's not like what I wrote (and that you highlighted) was meant to be taken seriously, sheesh. Cookie is in the mail.
"Many nights, my friend... Many nights I've put a blade to your throat while you were sleeping. Glad I never killed you, Steve. You're alright..."
WoW wasn't a bad game even tho people, usually the elitest snobs, try to use it as a 4 letter word, err 3 letter word.... ah never mind.
I could careless about similar graphics and names, my main concern is quality game play. If Alganon can take what did work good in WoW work on what didn't work then they may have a fine game on their hands.

Just getting set up on this forum but wanted to say hi and reply to this thread.
Alganon uses a lot of themes and conventions that are common to other MMOs you've played but we're also concentrating on some core features that add additional gameplay options that you might not have experienced before. These features include The Library, Studies, Families, Deities, and the Hybrid Character Progression System
There is a lot of information about these and other parts of the game on www.alganon.com - especially the About, Features, and FAQ pages.
Check them out and let me know if you have any questions or feedback.
All games use features taken from other games. Guild systems, chat systems, con systems, auctions, banks, classes etc. This is a basic truth in MMO's. WoW was by no means original in its creation as it took many things from EQ, Anarch online, and who knows what else. WoW did have some unique features though and they also spent about 10 times more money than anyone else at that time was spending on the development of games and thus had a much broader more advanced product that anyone else had at the time.
Every game is unique in some way or it will fail completely. As Samaxe said in the previous thread, Alganon like every other game has core features that are similiar to many other games out there but it also has many features unique to itself that should perhaps make it a game worthy of playing, only time will tell on that one.
On that subject can anyone name the first MMO with a mail system? How about the first MMO with a customizable UI?(I remember when that came out was a great advancement to the industry)
How about the first MMO to have a raid? How about the first MMO to make a UI specifically for raids? For guilds? What was the first MMO to use bags in your inventory?
Many systems people take for granted today did not always exist out there in the MMO gamescape. Original UO was an extremely basic game with I think about 10 skills that ranged from 1 to 99 and a few stats that moved based on your skills. You could max a character in a couple of days and from their on out it was just a matter of getting equipment which did not have very much variety. Then EQ came along and added stuff. Then anarchy Online came and added more stuff. Other games popped up in between and all around and added their stuff. Now current games take advantage of all the testing that went in to many systems to see which ones work and which ones look good on paper but suck in reality.

Id say the opposite of what you said,

I just thought "Asheroth" is funny.
They should have never made an art director who is on a program with WOW addicts anonymous think up a game of his own.
My brand new bloggity blog.

Yes, that's what they are trying to do. I so hope that they will succeed.
They have a lot of really great ideas and I keep my fingers crossed that this will be a new home for me in the near future.

Exactly what I was thinking.
WoW is in no way original anyone who knows MMOs in any depth would use , original comparrisons. You must try harder this Troll is a fail.
