Are you kidding? EQ2 is extremely userfriendly, almost to the point where it's completely annoying. EQ2 has a very very long in-game tutorial, when i played during beta - i was constantly clicking the close window button because the tutorial was driving me nuts. Talk about hand holding? Yeah, right.
I've played the same class/race twice through different testing periods - and I'm going to be playing the same class all over again in retail. I'm definitely not burnt out on this game.
I have never played EQ2 so I can't comment on it. But I have played many other mmo's and I did get so tired of playing for 12 hrs trying to get 1 lvl. FFXI comes to mind with that. Around lvl 55 I would have to play for at least 12 hrs, finding a party, finding a camp, killing, replacing ppl, waiting....... so when I got to play the open-beta of WoW I was very happy to play for a couple of hrs and actually do something, be it a quest, killing a few mobs, or just crafting. I could always get something done in an hour or two.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
And in response to someone that said it earlier I agree, always someone that has to brag about lvling in a week. I hate ppl that brag they have no life with the "I made it to lvl 50 in a week. Its not hard" We all have heard them, and would like to rap our fingers around their neck... or maybe its just me.
Now remember to always put off till tomorrow what you can do today... Oh wait a minute that didn't come out right!

Originally posted by elvenangel Actually EQ2 is the most complete game ever released as an MMO from America, where as WoW promised great PvP where as there's not and several of the classes aren't even finished. EQ all the classes are finished and they were upfront about PvP.
HAHAHA you're kidding right? Just some info no mmorpg is ever "complete" this can be learned from EQ/ SWG theres always stuff to be added. WoW seems pretty "complete" to me if its being compared to EQ2 lol. Not that EQ2 is bad... just not "complete" If I were to buy that game I'd Wait for a year or so.
---------About Kiddies~ I think that both games will have "kiddies" and its not much to worry about with WoW. Having Played in the Stress tests and OB I've only met a couple of immature people and they were not "kiddies".
Also, anyone crazy enough to let their child (I am talking 12 or under, my isdea of kiddies) play one of these games without supervision is out of their mind. There are just way too many poeple with no couth playing these games...
Funny, after playing my first EQ2 Char to lvl 14 I finally cancelled my sub, EQ2 is a waste of time, zoning gets tedious, particularly when you have to run across multiple zones for a quest, the 'ultimate' graphics.... lol..... I don't think so, good, but not that spectacular or realistic unless maybe you have a ridiculously high end machine, NPC interaction gets bloody annoying with the stupid speach bubble's and the amazingly irritating voices that have been chosen, and the combat interface is dumbed down to the point of stupidity.
WoW, has depth, No Zones (except at instances) can be solo'd if you area a casual gamer and to be honest is amazingly fun to play, which, at the end of the day is what it's about, actually enjoying a game for once....
Eq2 is actually very complete, as being a beta tester they did amazing things in just 1 month. It used to be i didn't have to go far to find a bug/glitch/exploit in beta (1 month ago), to where i have yet to find a bug.......at all! (relase)
and about that person who posted 1 or 2 posts back, lvl 14 isn't enough to know everything. And unless you are a pathetic fool who sits in their city afraid of the gnoll or orc army sitting outside, you would have left. The city-zones are very compact, but they have tons of stuff in them, and that if you had traveled outside your city you would have learned that the zones are just MASSIVE!
complete, Eq2 is, well at least as any mmorpg can be, but WoW..........i saw alot of things that they "promise", battlefields for pvp, pvp honor system, most classes aren't even complete. And about the person saying SOE added tons of stuff right before release........have you even seen what WoW is doing? Apparently not!! There are just a FEW things the game doesn't have that the designers said it would have, the ones i've found are: player-owned boats and fellowships, really the only things the game doesn't have.
lets look at this another way, what do you think the average "kid" computer is? probly a 3-4 year old crappy comp., probly looks like:
1.8 ghz, pentium 3/4; 256 mb of RAM, geforce 4 or something
and is that enough to run Eq2?............no!!! WoW is designed for kids, its just the way its made. Blizzard makes games designed for kids. Just look at them. Also, if you haven't noticed, almost ALL of their games have had bugs/glitchs up the wazoo. Look at Diablo........nerf!!!.......nerf!!!!!!........NERF!!!! little kid: "oh no my ubah zon was nerfed, now i gonna make a pally because they are good"
starcraft was horrible, diablo was horible (the series), have never played a warcraft game, but i assume it follows the same trend (easy and un-complicated)

Sounds as though you only read about WoW, and that you haven't even tried it out. Just a guess.
That's not important. What is important is your (forgive me) incredibly flawed logic regarding the "kiddies" and their computers and Blizzard's games. If you can't see it, there is no point in explaining it. It's that obvious.
Also, your description of Blizzard's history of flawed and buggy games is so remarkably contrary to the general consensus from the video gaming industry that it's not worth examining.
Look. If you like EQ2, then please go and play it. Why are you even trolling these boards? I know that when WoW Open Beta was still going on, I would NOT be on these boards bashing EQ2 or any other games.
Originally posted by Xreeon I keep reading Wow is for kids. From the reviews I have read, it seems just the opposite.
WOW is designed to appeal to both kids and adults. The game is flexible enough to be enjoyed on a lunch break, or for that one or two evenings a week that a responsible adult might have to spend. Or WOW can make for night after night of fun.
EQ2 seems designed for kids, those that never became an adult or wish to quit being one. I played EQ and DAOC. I never had the time to get to level 50 I only read about it from "kiddies" or EQ divorcees. (Honest, I know more then one.) From what I am reading EQ2 is apparently following the same formula for success...
Well in WoW I would always see people doing /fart /fart /fart /fart or /v silly /v silly /v silly /v silly or being immature idiots. I dont think either game really apeal to kids, just one apeals to immature people.
Yeah, I never see people doing /BeAseriouseTightAss emote. Like wtf?? Gaming is supposed to be absolutely dead seriouse and if having fun even comes close into the picture well then the game itself has failed at life.

AH so lets have a game thats dead serious gameplay and has no humor at all. Just great if I wanted dead serious I'd stay at school rather than play videogames. Jesus what the hell is wrong with some of you people?! I guess its the "work" determined mind set. "FUN!? what in the hell is that! Lets grind and grind and grind and get mad at someone that has a sense of Humor. And dont respond to me saying "oh well immature people get old after awhile" I already know they get old after awhile. But guess what?!?! You "Questies" saying the same damn thing, time in and time out, to troll World of warcraft gets old and tends to be more immature than anything else.
Oh and while I'm having a little rant here let me go on about a couple other things.
1. I don't know about you but I find it odd that people that play EQ2 and that have tried World of Warcraft complain about how many quests there are.... WAKE UP PEOPLE the title of YOUR game is called EVERQUEST--> EVER--QUEST. So W-T-F mate?!
2. IF this game is so flipping bad what are you doing in the World of Warcraft forums?? Is your game that boring, that you have to resort to trolling the forums....
3. I said it before and I'll say it again WoW and EQ2 will both have "kiddies" too bad the immature ones are not the "kiddies" but the ones that cannot put up with them. "OOO its a "kiddie" Run away he might have germs and make us die"
4. GO to your forums please!!!!! Either that or make a constructive post rather than saying in general WoW is a horrible horrible game.
5. I am a WoW fanboi but I dont go trolling EQ2 24/7. Actually after christmas some time I might actually buy the game but then again why would I want to put up with what I see as a community of Serious "kiddie" hater immature "adults" (as they claim to be) that have no sense of HUMOR!
6. Don't call me a hypocrit I do have a sense of humor I just tend to rant from time to time about things that PISS ME OFF.
First off I think Blizzard is a great company. I liked Starcraft and I liked Warcraft. I was unbelieavably excited to play WoW but truth be told I was let down. The game just got stale after awhile. I thought maybe it was the race/class I didn't like, but when I tried others it had the same stale feel. I just can't justify paying monthly for a product I'm going to bored of quickly. I think alot of people will likw WoW beacuse it is a solid game, just not for everyone.

Just wanted to thank everyone for the excellent feedback!

WoW is alot more userfriendly than EQ2, so in that case I would say WoW is for the kiddies.
That doesn't mean it's only for kiddies tho, it's just as much for MMORPG veterans.
I'm not sure who EQ2 is for tho, but if you have fun with it, keep playing and don't listen to the trolls.
