Which f2p are worth?

Enthrall90Enthrall90 Member Posts: 3

Are F2P worth it? Im maybe looking to try cabal, perfectworld, (retry) runes of magic, etc. Or are f2p all grind / cash shop grind?

I could try them all but id rather not waste time finding out which ones suck.

Are F2P worth what, exactly?  Are they worth half a sack of rice and two Argentine pesos?

You get what you pay for.  Pay nothing, get nothing.  They have to get money from players somehow, and most people who play a "free to play" game will never pay a dime, so they have to push players very hard to pay, and to pay quite a lot.  That's simple economic reality.  If that bothers you, then don't play a "free to play"/item mall game.  To play one after another hoping that the next one will be different is like falling for one Internet scam after another (e.g., "I make $5k per month working from home" or "I need your help to smuggle $10 million out of Sierra Leone") hoping that the next one will make you rich even after the previous ones just took your money.

As for pricing most F2P are subjective to the game and the player, I know most people would rather lump them all in together and claim that all F2P are bad, but I think some of them do indeed deserve a closer look, some are totally free, some are cheaper than P2P and some can be alot more exspensive than P2P, in the end it's up to you to decide what's a rip off and what's a bargain and justify to yourself how you spend your money, just a thought.

First of all, just a simple question. Will you spend money on the game or just play for free?

With that question made, if the answer is "for free" then Cabal seems ok, i've played it for a while and cash shop is not needed at all, the grind it's not so bad but the game is boring at low lvls/skills lvl, once you are lvl 60+ with G. Master or Completer skills it gets way better. Leveling seems nice until lvl 130 or so then it takes some time, but 70-110 for example it's pretty fast depending on your class and skills level...(with fast i mean...like doing 1 level in 10 minutes, but thats just at lvl 80-95 in a dungeon)

Perfect world also seems more free user friendly tho it will get very grindy sooner or later, and some cash shop stuff is needed sometimes tho is not very important in my opinion. But i didn't like it, too much grind for me ;)

Runes of Magic really depends...if you plan on playing for free, the game is not for you, unless you don't like to PvP...then the game may be for you. If you don't like PvP and you won't spend money you may play it for a while and try it by youself, but if you love PvP don't bother downloading it because at lvl 50 it requires you to pay a lot of money (at least 150$) to upgrade your equipement, and if you plan on paying that much cash to enchant gear you should really think it and get a P2P mmorpg.

If i had to choose one, in fact i would choose Cabal online, but thats just my opinion since i don't know what kind of mmorpgs you like more.

Just intrested, what F2P's have you played that make you think like this about them?

I would like a game where I have the option to use cash shop. Im border line free/pay person. I would eventually pay for some items but I wouldnt want the cash shop to be required in order to actually have a good experience or awesome character. Like buying a bunch of stuff and pwning everyone. I might give cabal a try. I was looking on xfires top played games and something surprised me. Why is silkroad online ranked # 8 most played. I heard that it was garbage as in cash shop pretty much required to advance. ? Am I wrong?

So their you have it. I will pay but not to advance in a game.

Well, mmorpgs rating in general it's simply screwed and wrong...it's easy to exploit it when some people can make a lot of accounts to over hype a game so don't worry about that ;)

As i said, if you want cash shop to be optional then forget about RoM, it's a must if you want to PvP.

Silkroad is a horrible game in my opinion, but that's just me hehe...it's a heavy grindfest with not much to do, pretty boring.

Of course there are more F2P that may seem nice for you, i just talked about these 3 since you mentioned them. For example Requiem Bloodymare was ok when i played, tho it gets very grindy past lvl 50 even if you play with premium, cash shop was great when i played, nothing really needed. And dunno what other F2P...people says about Maginobi but i didn't try it since it's NA only, Ether Saga has some nice features, but it's another grindfest and those "kiddish" graphics weren't for me.

so-called f2p isn't necessarily free of anything, the item mall needs your real cash. you can try guilds war and shadow of legend, the price of their item mall is reasonable and the things you get are worthy of the price. actually, if you're willing to play hard, i.e. in SOL, running castle siege etc are paid very well and the drops from boss are also cool, you almost  no need to spend really money at all. hope will help u.
