It has been known about since dual spec was announced, no big surprise and 1000g is hardly a bank breaker these days, i made that from potion sales alone yesterday, but as with fast flight it isn't a "have to have" thing so if you don't want to pay then you don't have to.
It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays.
Really...come on now; if this was pre-BC then yeah I'd have a fit, but 1000g is like pocket change now. You can easily get several hundred gold every day doing daily quests.
also..think about this for a minute.respecs, cost as much as 100G..you respec 10 times after that, which im not saying anyone would..dual spec already paid for itself. plus time, FP, and all that. 1k gold is nothing if you have enough skill, right profs..all that
breaking news, a brawl broke out between the hogger and arthas the lich king downtown gadgetzan. there where no survivers
Well c'mon, I haven't played WOW in two years and even I know that 1000g is pocket change in WOW these days. Should have made it 10,000 gold and put some sort of a challenge to it, but challenge doesn't appear to be what WOW is about any more.
But as I told my son yesterday, "this changes everything". I recall I used to hate playing my healiing spec'd druid back in the day since I couldn't kill anything when soloing. Now with a Feral/Healing spec the class would probably be much more fun.

Actually if I want to give it to all my lvl 70+ characters it would be 9000g while I don't even have the cash for 1 yet. I'm not saying I find it too expensive though, it's worth it in my eyes, just that to a lot of players it is a lot of gold.
I know getting money is extremely easy these days, but I also know that I personally find all those moneymaking ways too boring to do (yes I know, my choise, my fault, so I am not complaining). I don't enjoy doing the same old dailies again and again. A few times okay, but it gets boring fast. Same with gathering profs, bores me too much.
But again, I ain't complaining about the price since I know it only feels like a whole lot of gold because I have so many characters I like to give it to and they are all kinda broke.
I would of prefered 2 options to getting duel spec, class quest or pay the cash
The class quest would go along the lines of you would have to fight 3 copies of yourself, the 3 different specs (it has your gear and base stats - to help balance it) increase all stats by 50% to make it challenging and see what happens, some players would find this easy others not so. But would be a nice alternative to just giving out cash.
-
But 1000g would take 3 days to make just spending 2-3 hours doing 25 dailies each day, best place for this is icecrown.. made even easier with the argent tournament now.

The thing about that 1000g i made from potions (ok it was more like 960g) was that i didn't have to do anything but buy cheap from AH, find the niche markets and sell high. No gathering, no flying around for hours looking for nodes, just smart trading. Buying cheap healing potions, converting them to injectors and selling them for 2-3x the price or buy some reletively cheap herbs, convert them to popular potions and undercut everyone else by 10-20% to sell fast. If you just watch the markets a little and see where others aren't filling demand you can make a fortune doing it yourself without ever having to leave a city if you don't want to.

I so wish I could say that all you wrote was nonsense so I didn't have to admit the fact that the only reason my characters are poor is because of me being lazy in that department. Sadly I have to admit your comments to be valid.
one thing, i do think is BS. is that they make the min elvel 40..but cost 1K gold, at level..id say 77, to 80..gold is easy..but at low levels like 40, come on that -is- harsh...i mean, im not gonna have it for awhile after loseing my account..and am now useing one a friend gave me...given, im going to have to make a whole new one after i get the money cause, the name secret question and all that..thats besided the point..the price is harsh for the level needed..but, thats about it

How frequently can you change between speccs? As a pally can i start an instance as a tank and change mid way to a healer for example, or is there a cool down on the specc change?
You can change on the spot, so yes middle of a raid you can change spec (no need to visit a trainner etc), as to a cooldown I am not sure.. there was talk of one.

In all reality, dual-specs are not needed at all until lvl 80. You can tank or heal any non-heroic instance even if you are offspec and have decent gear. The devs originally had planned a lvl cap of 77 for dual specs, but some people asked for it to be lowered ( I don't know why, probably twinks). Also, not only can you tank/heal as an offspec at 40-70, those levels are also very fast, so you would spend very little actual time using your second spec. There is definitely no reason for someone to have a second spec at 40 who is leveling their first character, and people who are leveling an alt can afford the 1k if for some reason they want the second spec.
Gold is retardedly easy to get. My main is at 74 and has over 3k gold, and that's after blowing probably a grand on leveling the dk's enchanting and making a twink. And I'm lazy and not even trying to make money.
Hunters now have a spell to remotely assess the stable every half an hour or so. Maybe we will someday have the ability to remotesly access your bank every 30 minutes. So if you do not change spec more than twice an hour, you can just keep the extra gear in the bank. Ok I am dreaming.
As for 1k, its kinda trivial. After making level 80, every lvl 80 quest you complete gives you 13.23 gold. Doing 75 quests of the kind that give full xp at 80 will earm you 1k gold, plus the gold you get from killing mobs, and the gold from selling the quest rewards. So even if you are totally broke at lvl 80, you only need to go do some 60+ quests, which, is not that hard. The sons of holdir questline or the ebon blade questline alone would give up 500g I believe. Complete that, and you are close enuf to a dual spec.
But the true cost of dual spec does not stop there. The need to buy another full set of gear, enchants, gems, learn new spells, and if your are unlucky respec b/c you screw up your selection in your second spec. Those easily cost you 1k gold or more. A full set usually gives you 10 gem slots, plus 8 enchant slots or more (depending on your prof). Filling up these slots >> 1k gold.

Well 1 feature missing from 3.1 was the dressing room function, that let you swap out gear with a single click.. partners with duel specs I guess... not sure if that let you some how bring alt gear but not have it stored in your bags though... blizzard took it out as it was not quite ready/buggy.

my goodness, i don't know where to start with that post. blizz behind the gold selling? sorry, gold farmers are not exclusive to WoW.
you don't need dual spec, so you don't need to spend 1k gold. we've all played WoW for years without it.
